Ben Carson Blows Up at Reporters During Presser: Why Don’t You Care About Obama’s Past?

You have interpreted my facetious, flippant, tongue-in-cheek remark as a smear; perhaps it may appear so but that was not my intent. I do know that many Catholics, particularly here on CAF, believe all abortions should be banned; but I am not talking about such Catholics in my previous comment. Rather, I am talking about moderates and liberals who are not likely to agree with Ben Carson’s words about a no-exception ban on all abortions, the theory of evolution, the hypothesis that if Jews had guns in Nazi Germany, they might have prevented the Holocaust,
In his new book, A More Perfect Union, Carson writes, “Through a combination of removing guns and disseminating propaganda, the Nazis were able to carry out their evil intentions with relatively little resistance.”

When asked by Wolf Blitzer whether the Holocaust would have happened in the absence of gun-control laws:

“I think the likelihood of Hitler being able to accomplish his goals would have been greatly diminished if the people had been armed." [source linked below]
Seems pretty clear that he was talking about the German people as a whole rather than specifying the Jews.
and his refusal to vote for any Muslim who might run for the presidency.
And an explanation for this and more at the link.

Isn’t this crazy? We have to fact check the journalists!
Such comments might give some people pause concerning what kind of mindset Carson has. With him, it is not so much an issue of trustworthiness as it is a sincere way of thinking which, to some, does not sound quite right.
But Democrats, when they are honest, also reveal “sincere ways of thinking which, to some,” do “not sound quite right,” wouldn’t you say? I can give examples if you want…

This is without a doubt ,the single greatest disservice the left has done for the poor and marginalized, black and while alike but especially the black youth. That black men like Dr. Ben Carson, and others like him are demonized and their accomplishments diminished, soley because they are of the wrong political persuasion.:(When you compare and contrast Barack Obama, who has been for the most part coddled and propped up for most of his life,to Dr.Carson’s youth and his will to overcome adverse conditions,it is startling that he isn’t held up as a model for the black community.

:blessyou: I think I agree with most of your posts but that is so well said and in addition,

Dr. Carson is very much a man of the book: :bible1:

That too, is what America very much needs, across the spectrum of Americans.

Here is a good article about the Politico’s smears of a good and honorable man (my words, not from the article!). They make about 5 good points, if not more, so hard to choose what to include here as a representative bit of text.

*Let’s begin with two propositions: There is a difference between an admirable man and a perfect man, and there is a difference between “vetting” and viciousness… *

…His account, in fact, resonates with my own experience. Many years ago I was “offered” an ROTC scholarship before I even applied. After speaking with officers familiar with my academic record, they told me I would receive a full academic scholarship, and that the application was a mere formality. My teenage self certainly took their statements as an “offer,” and I wouldn’t have applied without their word. (I filled out the forms and was formally accepted, but declined in favor of a better scholarship elsewhere.)

(My note: here’s someone who actually also has experience with being a sought-after top-notch student!)

*…At the end of the day, what are we left with? An admirable though imperfect man who rose from abject poverty to the pinnacle of one of the most challenging professions in the nation — all while never forgetting his roots, maintaining grace and humility even as he earned riches and honors. In fact, his life story — and his character — would make him one of the most inspiring Americans ever to occupy the Oval Office… *

TBH, I am very unsure that Dr Carson would make a goid president, but I really admire him as a person. His accomplishments alone are stellar; the fact that he is also a decent and honorable man is amazing.

This last point may be the most telling:

…But he’s a direct threat not just to leftist narratives regarding race and class but also to the leftist stranglehold on the black vote. And for that reason alone he must be destroyed…
👍 Thank you for your excellent post St. Francis.

What does Carson say? He had an outburst and he prayed for 3 hours and read Proverbs when he was still a teenager, asking for deliverance or at least, a way to cope with what was troubling him? Sounds good to me.

I don’t have to prove what Carson wrote in his book.

You can read it for yourself as the multiple articles on the issue quote him on.

I don’t have a horse in this race so lets not make the thread about me, just because you don’t accept the information in the articles I’ve posted.

Jim
why don’t you accept what others have posted?

Dr. Ben Carson is a good man. I am praying that Ted Cruz gets the nomination.

I realize that we all change as we grow. However, I have a problem with electing someone to be President who says he once attacked his mother with a hammer. This is because people tend to regress under stress to much younger types of behavior. I don’t want a President who might regress to a state that includes an over reliance on violence.

This has nothing to do with party. This has to do with basic human behavior.

I agree Jeanne. that is what I have been saying - black lives matter to the democrats unless you are a conservative black male like Herman Cain or Dr. Ben Carson or a conservative black female like Condoleeza Rice. there are some liberal posters here at CAF who aren’t stupid-they seem to be intelligent. I would think this hypocrisy or double standard their democrat party follows would bother them.

I haven’t seen anything in Ben Carson that would prove to me that he would regress under stress. Dr. Carson is an admirable man.

Of course he is admirable. And he has been responsible for the life or death of one person at a time. However, he was not able to stay cool under the pressure of being questioned by reporters. What will happen when he has to deal with a North Korean or Chinese head of state making threats?

How about his behavior over the past forty some years as not only an adult but as a brain surgeon? This requires not only mental and physical stamina ,but patience as well.He no doubt has had to stand for hours, doing intricate brain surgery requiring a mental discipline that would bode well for any president. What he might have done as a hormonal teenager, really should have no bearing on what he is now or could be as a world leader:shrug:

Yeah, you would think so.Yet the double standard continues.Whether is be woman’s rights, black rights,it does seem the dem voters are on auto pilot. The hypocrisy slides right past them:eek:

Apparently, Jesus wasn’t able to “stay cool” when faced with money changers in his Father’s house, so what conclusions are you drawing from that? No “Son of God” status for him, then?

I don’t know about you, but I’ve never tried brain surgery. I am pretty sure I would lose my “cool” faced with lives hanging in the balance.

Furthermore, you really have no idea what kind of pressures are on these candidates especially when such cheap shots are being used to unjustly derail the chances of candidates BEFORE they have had the full opportunity to prove their mettle.

The press (particularly Politico) is being unfair, unjust and cheap AND so are we if we don’t give each candidate a fair shot at being elected. That is why all of us ought to be vigilant regarding what is fair and what is not.

AND I ain’t even American, so I have no skin in the game, whatsoever. This is from the point of view of neutral observer.
