It would be very beneficial to our country to have two people who are genuinely interested in advancing the concerns of ordinary people. I don’t see it as a choice, though. I lean to the left because I am more aligned with their world view. Although, i myself am pro-life, I feel that that is a conclusion I reached from my own conscience, I dont feel everyone is of the same mindset and I respect that.

Nice of you to use the least favourable renderings of his comments from sources completely unfriendly to any Republican position in order to unfairly misrepresent what he says (and likely thinks) leaving out completely HIS explanations of what he might have meant by those comments.

We (royal) don’t seem to be very willing to give him a fair hearing, much less try to understand where he is coming from.

Are you a shill for the Democrats, an apologist for Politico or just have an axe to grind?

Clearly, in this charged political climate the right and sensible thing to do is NOT listen to the hearsay or “interpetations” or commentary, but ONLY and directly to the candidates, like Carson, themselves.

Evolution has been a very effective tool of the devil that has turned many away from Christ.

We either have a choice in our sexuality, or all of our choices are determined by our hormones and our physiology.

Sexists and Nazis must be born that way too, if free choice is such a small thing in who we are.

America is one of the least racist countries on the planet.

People who would never vote for any Republican would never vote for Ben Carson on that account.
But he will not lose the Republican vote on account of standing up for free will, and God, and the right of even black babies to be born.

Because as was said earlier in the thread, there’s a sense of gleefulness about the media’s quest to destroy to Dr. Carson.

When asked about a comparison of SSM to slavery, Carson suggested that the difference is that homosexuality is a choice, and when Cuomo pressed him for evidence, offered the idea that some “go into prison straight and… come out gay.”

Like a gambler who plays the horses who is then introduced to the even more immediate effects of gambling at a casino, this may indeed be the case. The fact that a very high proportion of the homosexual male population admits to having been sexually abused in their childhood or youth by a male might also be introduced as evidence for Carson’s assertion.

Carson then went on to discuss his idea that homosexuals want the legal benefits of marriage, and questioned why this could not now be extended further.

Altho he goes against what is commonly pereceived as generally believed fact these days, his ideas comport with those generally held only a couple of decades ago.

First, there seems to be some confusion over whether Carson said “worse than slavery” or “worst thing since slavery,” but he ended up saying he should have said “worse than 9/11.”

He says the difference is that 9/11 was an "isolated [event] as opposed to things that fundamentally change the United Sates of America and shift power from the people to the government. That is a huge shift.”

I can’t copy his exact words, but basically he says that entropy would not result in the type of order in which we could accurately predict comets.

(The article goes on to explain why Carson is wrong, given that order can be generated in one area of a system but not another; however, since their examples involve (name removed by moderator)uts from outside the system, I don’t think their explanation works.)

I was also amused by this The New Yorker’s headline: “Ben Carson’s Scientific Ignorance,” written by the man who thinks that nothing is a form of something (but who does then present more technical arguments against Carson than in my first link, but I lack time to change all this).

Could not find anything resmbling this. Mostly Carson seemed to acknowledge a (metaphorical) sickness of racism which can be overcome by black people, and a division in our nation which should be healed.

What Carson said: “Back in August, he said of Planned Parenthood, ‘One of the reasons that you find most of their clinics in black neighborhoods is so that you can find a way to control that population.’”

Well, an interesting exercise in how abysmal and biased reporting has become.
 
WSJ‘s Reid Epstein reports that in his 1992 autobiography, Carson writes about how his psychology professor at Yale decided to test the class by telling them that all of their final exams had burned and they would have to retake the test.

Carson claims in the book that every student but him walked out after finding the new test to be much tougher. And once he was the only one left in the class, he was informed by his professor that it was a hoax and they wanted to find “the most honest student in the class.” Carson says he was given $10 and a photographer for the Yale Daily News took his picture.

Yes, a claim that Carson “makes a lot of intellectual missteps,” written by a man who is renowned for his own clumsy intellectual stumblings, ought to be taken VERY seriously. :rolleyes:

Well, no, that isn’t even the case.

More like the press misstated what Carson stated took place in order to make it look like Carson -]lied/-]… …uh… misstated the truth.
