  • CNN is saying a suspect is in custody. NBC is saying there is no suspect in custody. Reuters does not have any confirmation of an arrest.
  • CNN and Boston Globe are reporting that investigators believe they have identified a suspect based on surveillance tape from a Lord & Taylor department store. A law enforcement source has confirmed this with Reuters.

Let’s just say from what is being reported, it’s not what the Liberals and Leftists wanted but it’s still very early.

Fox has not commented on description yet, CNN has.

I think all Americans are hoping they’ve arrested the correct person, and it will lead to any additional arrests required.

There may be some americans— liberals, leftists, progressives, conservatives, neocons, rightists —disappointed they won’t be able to exploit it for their goals. I won’t group all of any group together in that regard.

Yes, dark skinned young man. Looks like it’s someone they had questioned already - hence the quick identification and arrest.

Suppose now we can expect CNN to start a campaign banning pressure cookers. Can’t wait to see Piers Morgan’s first attempt at cooking broccoli…or maybe turnip would be a better fit for Piers.

It would suit the left agenda if it turned out to be a nominal Christian so they can make the headline “Christian Bomber Found!”.
 
I don’t believe he’s under arrest as of yet? Detained for questioning. The Lord and Taylor surveillance video saw the man put the black duffle bag down. We’ll see, probably by tonight.

Of course, it’s not all liberals but quite a few liberals and leftists have said something like the above. And CNN is reporting the suspect is dark skinned at this point, Fox News is not.

Liberals are hoping it won’t be a Muslim. But if it is they have a standard procedure of ignoring that fact.

Whomever it turns out to be , someone will exploit it and well lose rights in exchange for feeling safe…
 
Liberals blamed Sandy Hook on guns instead of blaming the one who used the gun. I wonder if liberals will say that we need to ban bombs and act as if the bomb made him do it?

Better inland enforcement- take 10% of TSA employees and use them for checks on employers, follow-up on those on visas.

Prosecute companies which knowingly hire illegals.

Liberalize tourist/short term visas/family visits. If goal is detering terrorism it should be about identifying who is here, not focused on keeping everyone out.

Work visas for agricultural/menial labor work. Liberalize those, have employers provide state department with an estimate for number of bodies they are looking to hire and time period. State Dept issues visas based on those numbers to applicants from foreign countries, employer and foreigner on visa report their location and update as required.

Do not allow family tag-ons for those on work visas.

We don’t have to offer citizenship-- it just draws more illegal entrants. Why we keep doing this ‘one time amnesty’ every 20 years. We need to make it easier to identify and allow entry for those where it is mutually beneficial. Lower the number trying to enter illegaly make border security more manageable within the allotted resources. Easier to find the one or two bad apples in a bushel than in an orchard. Technology can detect entrants, but it takes folks on the ground to react to each detection, they can’t currently respond to every detection.

Some of those suggestions are already being done, though there are a limited number of prosecutors, etc… Some of them are unconstitutional, and will never be done, unless the Constitution is amended, or the courts reverse themselves. At least one is not very practical. Just how would you cut off “sanctuary” states? How would you determine which ones they are?
 
Shucks. CNN had someone on his way to court. Now they’re saying that everything we know is wrong. Best to wait until the official press conference.
