Never tried to stop them from seeing the movie yet the box office figures showed that the Kinsey movie only made back about half the cost of making it. Don’t expect that with the DaVinci Code because most people want to see the movie since they have read the book. Just try to inform.

Not sure seeing another movie will have an effect. It will show that people want more family movies but Hollywood already knows that. Just be giving them more money.
Kinsey did the business it did because of exposure and because it took a serious look at a serious subject. The fact that most people don’t want to be challenged is a considerable thorn in my side. But it is fact.

Kinsey’s research was flawed and people reacted. Movie barely made 10 million and cost of making it was I believe was 22 million. Movie theaters dropped it as they have to have a strong flow of movie goers to even keep a movie in their theater… Started to advance in the number of theaters showing it and then just fizzled out.

You can’t actually beleive that Joe Q public 1) agrees on a whole with a very ancient view of sexuality and 2) actually refrains from seeing a movie like that based on knowledge. Guarantee 9/10 movie goers don’t know who Kinsey was, or didn’t until the movie released.

It’s a start 😃

Domain should be working in a day or 2.

What’s the point? Almost everyone here already spits out a lung at the mere mention of the book, and the few that don’t have heard it all and aren’t likely to visit. Just curious. You’re preaching to the choir.

Guaranteed 9/10 of people didn’t know who Kinsey was and probably still do not know or even care. They are not interested and certainly not in a man who used children in his research.

It would have actually been better if the movie had kept going because more information could have been given out.

Would you shut up? Idle talk is a sin. You don’t do anything but gripe and moan about a lot of nothing on these forums…typical liberal.

Not to keep you moaning but this was a PG-13 movie. It looks like it was just silly humor to relax people.

Hollywood will continue to make these movies as long as they are profitable…

Brokeback mountain made almost 83 million in the US and 87 million overseas. Movies are usually release slowly with five theater and then 30 theaters etc until they do a major weekend of say 600 theaters. They often start in California, go to IIlinois and Brown’s home state? and then to East coast as the theaters keep increasing. If they are not good, they can’t make the expansion to many theaters. Overseas doesn’t get them and they go to Video fast to make up losses. The movie box office list the theaters. Phone calls to theaters are good.

Brokeback mountain…
Opening Weekend:
(limited, 5 theaters) $547,425
($109,485 avg)

Opening Weekend: $5,805,082
(wide, 683 theaters, $8,499 average)
% of Total Gross: 7.0%

Widest Release: 2,089 theaters

DaVinci Code…

**Producers are said to have invested $100m (£56m) in the movie, ** which uses the Louvre Museum in Paris as one of its main backdrops. (France got a court injunction and stopped an Advertisement depicting the last supper)

The Da Vinci Code will be screened out-of-competition at the 11-day annual festival.

It will be released in France and Japan on the same day as its Cannes screening, and in the UK and US on 19 May.

I have seen a lot of Rob Shneider movies. Then I’ve seen Meet the Parents. There’s good silly humor, and there’s not even trying silly humor (and I am a film buff so I do have a bit of a strong opinion there).

Ooooooh, yes, all we liberals are alike. Boy have you got US pegged. But I do beleive this is against forum rules, unlike anything I’ve posted. Can’t bear to have someone disagree with you there?

Sadly, many people believe everything they read and see. Hence they ignore the part about fiction and speculation. 😦
This is very true… not everyone knows their faith as they should and are being mislead…That said, it has made some do a little searching…not a bad thing.😉

Haven’t seen many of his movies and you may be right Last one I saw was Home Alone II. Wouldn’t mind seeing Around the World In 80 Days. I like Jackie Chan

I wonder if we ever will because people like the commercials)

Reality shows? Not my thing. And Around the World in 80 Days was good entertainment, nothing special, but fun like the first Shanghai movie. Also has a few spots that are groaner enough to be inspired by the second Shanghai movie, but overall not bad. Is Shneider in that? If he was it must have been a cameo.

I believe it was Jeffery Lyons who pointed out that films (like the DaVinci Code) get made not because of box office, but in order to impress the powers that be in Hollywood, as “serious filmmakers,” so that those who make them will get accolades from their peers. They could care less how many people go to see it, especially if it is a message film in which Hollywood values are supported. Such a sad comment, but all too true!
You’re right about that. Also, the filmakers could care less about how many people see the movie in theaters. It will be released soon on DVD for rental and purchase. That’s where their money lies. Example::Brokeback Mountain is already avaliable for rental or purchase from Wal-Mart.

What? Brokeback Mountain got released on DVD? How dare they! I’ll never buy that!
