Finally, An Answer To Why So Many People Voted For Trump

And do your statistics account for genetics, culture, education, and a million other variables? Does it account for, say, a black person raised by an affluent white family, vs other black people? I’ve seen some of these stats… and there are far far far too many variables to make dogmatic decrees about the intrinsic ability of any given “race” based on genetics… which is what white supremacy is all about… it also has nothing to do with the inherent dignity of all human beings as taught by the Church.

You refer to science. There’s far more genetic diversity in Africa than anywhere else… so why are “black people” lumped into a single “race” when members of two different African tribes may be far more distinct from one another, genetically, than Swedes are from the Japanese? …perhaps because social classifications of “race” are not actually based on science?

Also interesting that you’re very concerned about socialism, yet seem to speak very highly of red communist China…

I do think that whoever said it has it right, that the left thinks the right are evil, the right just thinks the left is wrong.
That must be why I see the word “demonic” used about the left here on CAF.
I had the same thought. On my planet the left definitely demonized as evil incarnate.
How about disregarding ALL the extremists, both on the far right and the far left? And start to look at others not as mortal enemies, but others with whom we can have a dialog, and strive for mutual respect and understanding.
I thing that would require a maturity an perspective that seems to be missing in a lot of Americans today.

He was defending Hitler on another thread stating, “Hitler didn’t make absolutely stupid mistakes like Mao.” So I guess a little racism is at least milder than that.

There are extremists on both sides of the political spectrum though.

Back to the topic.

The author says this:

What is being demonstrated by the far left today is a level of sanctimony that defies all reason. The left has taken the you’re either with us or against us approach, and God help you if you’re against them. If you don’t smile and nod while they scream in your face, you’re a racist, sexist, homophobic, Islamophobic, transphobic bigot and you deserve nothing more than to be torn down and destroyed.

The left is nothing but pure judgement.

But, in fact, . . . some on . . . the right in reality . . . are pure judgement.

If you’re gay, you’re wrong. . . . If you’re not a Christian, you’re wrong. If you want to help immigrants you’re wrong. If you’re not like us you’re a stupid, evil heathen and going to hell.

If you’re gay, you’re wrong. No, you can’t live with someone without marriage. If you’re not a Christian, you’re wrong. If you want to help immigrants you’re wrong. If you’re not like us you’re a stupid, evil heathen and going to hell.
Anyone, who is extremist exhibits the same features - whether extreme right or extreme left - we are right and you are wrong, or evil. That is the sad problem.

Actually, the right, morally, is all about "NO!'. The left is all about “Sure, that’s okay”.

The moral conservatives have a tough row to hoe. They are telling people that some things are wrong, not only for adherents but for everyone. Birth control, gay marriage, etc. That’s a really tough sell.

The liberals are the opposite, and just give people license to do anything they please, no matter how freaky.

That’s where we are, at least morally. I think that drives the political divide.

Very well said. A minor correction: the permissiveness is only allowed for those acts, which do not adversely affect others. “The right of your fist ends, where my nose begins”. This needs to be emphasized. Of course the “right” will scream about the “rights” of the unborn, and they consider a cell, or a bunch of cells to be “persons”… and then we have a stalemate.

A lot of pro-lifers for Trump, a lot of choicers and pro-abortionists for Biden.

Article snippets:
“He offers a truly safe space for human frailty and hypocrisy and self-doubt. He offers what no priest can credibly offer— a total expiation of shame.

A good example of this is our attitude toward fast food. With documentaries like Super Size Me shining a light on the dangers of fast food and the United States’ burgeoning obesity epidemic, everywhere we look people are now telling us what, when, and how to eat. Consciously or not, all of this advice is set against the backdrop of fat-shaming. Who wouldn’t want relief from this shame?

Tell that to the black and brown people who are victims of white supremacy!

istorical revisionism… all of the sudden anyone evil in history was a socialist… Stalin represents the extreme left… Hitler represents the extreme right. Both were very evil. I didn’t use the term white pride, but it was still the concept of racial superiority that was used to justify the Holocaust… white supremacy is just one manifestation of various racial ideologies, all of which are wrong.

And where is this line on what is genocide?? Look at the article, this isn’t what Trump or Republicans do.

Who supports laws that is being a terrible occurrence to minorities? Isn’t Trump or the Republicans.

If one is liberal and supports the laws, they need to own up to them. If a 3rd or more babies of some of these groups are aborted because of the laws, that blame should be adequately assigned.

It would be so very nice to have the proper nomenclature for the two sides. The so-called “pro-lifers” are really “anti-abortionists” and the so called “pro-abortionists” are actually “pro-choicers”.
Sure, we should just accept the “nomenclature” that your side chooses. How about if you accept the truly proper nomenclature that we use? That would be very nice!
If it would be possible to use the proper descriptions, we might make a step toward mutual understanding.
Yes, when you all start using the proper descriptions, we might make a step toward mutual understanding.

I myself try to use a descriptor such as supporter of legalized abortion solely because I want to make a first step. I also try to use terms such as unborn humans (altho using human in a discussion on abortion was recently criticized as well, despite it’s being very scientifically accurate).

I also find it ironic that the proponents of “my body, my choice” are more willing to think mandating or forcing covid vaccines on everyone is a good idea 🤔

Trump and current Republicans are not guilty of genocide, true… but that doesn’t mean Hitler was a Leftist rather than an extreme representation of the Right.

Rwanda, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, everywhere has experienced these tragedies.

Only because it is accurate. No one likes or prefers abortions.

Just show me one woman, who intentionally chooses to get pregnant, because she prefers to have an abortion.

If only you would differentiate between an adjective and a noun, we might take the first step. Human tissue is not the same as a human being. What is so complicated about this?
I also find it ironic that the proponents of “my body, my choice” are more willing to think mandating or forcing covid vaccines on everyone is a good idea
The reason should be obvious. The virus is contagious, pregnancy is not. Savvy?

I like how you are kicking up your game prior to the close of the forum

I guess after it’s back to 4chan

I think the value of the article comes at the end where he talks about “accurate disagreement.”

And that might be the more valuable point to discuss here as well, instead of re-hashing the same arguments we’ve been having for months, if not years, as it seems like we might be beginning to do
Discussed over and over for thousands of posts on this forum for many, many years., just the name Trrump.

Since you posted the article why take a side? Any thread on Trump certainly would arouse problems.

The race card had to come up. This is the last paragraph or article…
I think we need more accurate disagreement in our lives. We need to stop writing people off by calling them stupid or racist or homophobic because those answers are too easy, too simplistic.

Only regarding what might be called traditional morality.

Regarding the New Moralité, the far left is beyond hyper-judgemental. The people who believe there is no difference between the sexes think, first, that people who think they are the opposite gender have a point (talk about cognitive dissonance!) and two, that adolescent males who think they are girls should be allowed onto the girls’ sports teams (utter denial of scientific reality, but a doubling of cognitive dissonance), and moreover, that those who disagree should be denounced in the harshest ways possible.

Saying All Lives Matter will get you in trouble with the far left, too, and possibly even killed. If your relative says the wrong thing, you can lose your job.

The far left is absolutely rigid with its dogma, and you will be entirely excommunicated if you so much as mention that other points of view exist.

It must be nice living surrounded by people who believe exactly as you do, bit for the rest of us who don’t live in the government-funded land of “inside the Beltway,” we have to deal with these things.
