No - it’s not funny.

“The test of a good religion is whether or not it can laugh at itself.” - G.K.Chesterton

Are you actually boasting about the severity of your Catholicism?

Really?

“Angels can fly because they take themselves lightly.” - G.K.Chesterton
But you are a convert, Right?

I was actually quoting from the Catholic Bible at the USCCB.👍
It doesn’t matter which Bible you read, you have to look to the Church for the interpretation, if it offers an ‘official’ interpretation. Scriptures do not contradict.

We really need to move this discussion to the Sacred Scripture forum. 😉

When Christ commands us to love one another, as He loves us, it’s unconditional. Remember, He also taught us to pray, ‘forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.’
He also told us to help our brother remove the speck from his eye.

He also told us to help our brother remove the speck from his eye.
Did you typo?
Mat 7:3 And why seest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye; and seest not the beam that is in thy own eye?
Mat 7:4 Or how sayest thou to thy brother: Let me cast the mote out of thy eye; and behold a beam is in thy own eye?
Mat 7:5 Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thy own eye, and then shalt thou see to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

I have shown you using St. Aquinas.

Once more, we should move this discussion to the Sacred Scripture forum.
And I also cited Aquinas to you:
The Summa Theologica
Article 1. Whether fraternal correction is an act of charity?
"The correction of the wrongdoer is a remedy which should be employed against a man’s sin. Now a man’s sin may be considered in two ways, first as being harmful to the sinner, secondly as conducing to the harm of others, by hurting or scandalizing them, or by being detrimental to the common good, the justice of which is disturbed by that man’s sin.
Consequently the correction of a wrongdoer is twofold, one which applies a remedy to the sin considered as an evil of the sinner himself. This is fraternal correction properly so called, which is directed to the amendment of the sinner. Now to do away with anyone’s evil is the same as to procure his good: and to procure a person’s good is an act of charity, whereby we wish and do our friend well. Consequently fraternal correction also is an act of charity, because thereby we drive out our brother’s evil, viz. sin, the removal of which pertains to charity rather than the removal of an external loss, or of a bodily injury, in so much as the contrary good of virtue is more akin to charity than the good of the body or of external things. Therefore fraternal correction is an act of charity rather than the healing of a bodily infirmity, or the relieving of an external bodily need. There is another correction which applies a remedy to the sin of the wrongdoer, considered as hurtful to others, and especially to the common good. This correction is an act of justice, whose concern it is to safeguard the rectitude of justice between one man and another."
-St Thomas Aquinas

And I also cited Aquinas to you:
So yours trumps mine? I told you, they do not contradict. The quote you used speaks of ‘brothers’, the quote I used speaks of making enemies your ‘brother.’

The Douay-Rheims is my favorite version, but I also read, for comparisons, two Aramaic to English translations, two King James Versions, the RSV, The Greek New Testament Interlinear, the Vulgate, and for the Old Testament I occasionally refer to the Septuagint with Strong’s numbers.

I would not suggest that Christ’s teachings contradict one another. You have to read a verse in light of the passage, the passage in light of the chapter, the chapter in light of book, the book in light of the Testament, and the Testament in light of the other Testament.

When I have questions, I look to see if the Church has an ‘official’ interpretation in the Catechism. I will also look to the early Church fathers, up to the men of the Church of present times.

When Christ commands us to love one another, as He loves us, it’s unconditional. Remember, He also taught us to pray, ‘forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.’
He also tells us to go and sin no more. This woman has reveled in the death of Americans and Israelis, who were murdered. I as a Christian cannot support her receiving a reward, (especially as rewards by nature are not given to everyone, or all our ‘enemies’ or brothers who sin, but are supposed to be a special reward for those who do good). It is also not a good political move for Mr. Obama to then give her a medal by the International woman of Courage. How courageous is it anyways to gloat over your enemies death, the death of women and children by the way, innocent people who are vacationing or just going to work.?

Giving people awards and honors has NOTHING to do with loving anyone.

Giving people awards is doing good to them.

Not at all:
Read the whole chapter. It begins with:
Mat 7:1 Judge not, that you may not be judged.
Mat 7:2 For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Mat 7:3 And why seest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye; and seest not the beam that is in thy own eye?
Mat 7:4 Or how sayest thou to thy brother: Let me cast the mote out of thy eye; and behold a beam is in thy own eye?

Trumps?

No.

Completes?

Yes.

Our Lord went to “enemy” territories with the disciples. For instance Samaria.

The Samaritans were sworn enemies of the Jews. In fact the Jews would actually avoid going in to this area at all costs.

Did our Lord not show fraternal correction to the Samaritan woman at the well?

No, giving or not giving people awards is not a Christian virtue. It is a secular practice. It has nothing to do with loving anyone. It is an honor of which is measured purely by secular standards, which by the way can means they can honor people for bad reasons, I do believe Margret Sanger won a few awards in her day.

Read the whole chapter. It begins with:
I have read it- many times. Thank you.:tiphat:

It is NOT an admonishment against judgment per se. But rather, it is a warning against hypocrisy.

Once you remove the greater guilt of the matter from your OWN eye - THEN you must help your brother remove his error from HIS eye.

See? (pardon the pun) 👍

Behold the Fraternal Correction extended to an enemy by Our Lord:
"Jesus said to her, “Go call your husband and come back.” The woman answered and said to him, “I do not have a husband.” Jesus answered her, “You are right in saying, ‘I do not have a husband.’ For you have had five husbands, and the one you have now is not your husband. What you have said is true.” - John 4:16-18
