Hail Mary,
Full of grace,
The Lord is with Thee.
Blessed art Thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb,
Jesus
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners
Now and at the hour of death,
Amen

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Hail Mary,
Full of grace,
The Lord is with Thee.
Blessed art Thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb,
Jesus
Holy Mary,
Mother of God
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of death,

“Look! No blood!” So thank you again to all of you who support Boise’s Catholic street evangelization efforts by your prayers and other sacrifices! May God bless you at least a hundredfold! Three evangelists were available last week.
  • First-time evangelist, “Bill”, has followed our adventure posts for a couple of years now. About 6 weeks ago, he decided to join us “on the street”. Unusually, during this last session we had a significantly high rejection rate . I saw it as perhaps Bill’s “trial by fire”, which God seems to allow our best evangelists their first time out. Bill talked with evangelist Mike about the apostolate and watched us in action for a while. Then he picked up a Rosary and offered it to a couple of people passing by. They politely replied, “No, thank you.” Bill turned back toward us and I remarked, “Look! No blood!” Bill had weathered his first rejection in grand style and promised to come out with us again soon. He’d make a great street evangelist, so please pray he pursues the call!
  • Seeing our table was “a walk down memory lane” for a couple. They told us that on their first date, 3 years ago, they received a Rosary from us (but have since misplaced them). Both people are non-Catholic Christians not currently connected with a faith community. They accepted a map of area parishes and the invitation to attend any Mass. When they showed further interest, we also offered them a copy of the Catechism, encouraging them to read it from the beginning “to catch the Catholic worldview”. The man accepted it with gratitude. He and the woman also accepted a Rosary, a copy of its brochure, and the encouragement to begin praying it daily.
  • A man, perhaps 20, let his friends continue without him for a moment while he chose a Rosary. His dad “used to be Catholic”; his mom is a non-Catholic Christian. Their son, our visitor, has not yet been baptized. He accepted a Rosary, its pamphlet, and a copy of the kerygma/Good News pamphlet.
  • Altogether, despite many “no, thank you” responses, we gave away 5-8 Rosaries, 1 Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1 map of area parishes, and 1 kerygma pamphlet.
Please pray for us again today? We plan to set up downtown again in just an hour or so. Please ask God to send people to us with their hearts open to perceive their need for Jesus Christ and His Church. Please ask God to grant us evangelists all we need to reach each soul for Him. Please ask that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of our efforts today?

We’re hard-wired to be social, so rejection can hurt. Still, the Good News about Jesus Christ needs to go out, and God is blessing the Boise team and granting us continued courage. So thank you again so much! In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and yours!

“Demons all over him!” but, thanks to your ongoing prayers for Boise’s Catholic street evangelization effort, the work goes on. Three evangelists were available.
  • Our first visitors were a father and his 3 sons (all under 10 years old). The father claimed to belong to a non-Christian monotheistic religion. The dad and only one of the boys accepted a Rosary. A few minutes later, the boys returned, leading their mother and grandmother. Both women and, now, the other two boys accepted a Rosary. The adults and at least one boy also accepted the pamphlet describing the meditation.
  • A group of three women, all under 20, each accepted a Rosary. They professed that they didn’t belong to any religion. Evangelist Lucy offered them two copies of the Catechism of the Catholic Church to share, inviting them to read it from the beginning so they can understand the Catholic worldview. They seemed willing to do so.
  • A man, sporting many symbols, answered our offer to receive a Rosary. He accepted a Rosary, but not its brochure. As he walked away, Fr. Tom remarked that the man had “demons all over him, didn’t you feel it?” So, please pray for that man? Shortly afterward, a person with a device putting out painfully loud music walked by. At the time, two high-school-age boys were receiving a quick explanation of the Rosary devotion.
  • The father of a family of two young children gladly accepted a (properly blessed) St. Benedict medal for himself and one for his wife. Fr. Tom blessed the family’s third child, still in the womb, and the mother.
  • A couple in their mid- to late-20s stopped by. He was an inactive Catholic; she a non-Catholic Christian. They each accepted a Rosary and brochure, as well as a quick explanation of how to pray it. We encouraged them to actually pray it through, since many find an unexplained peace when they do so. The man also accepted a map of area parishes and encouragement to attend Mass that evening.
  • A man, very angry at the Catholic Church, did not stop. He called to us, however. He didn’t hate Catholics, he said, but the institution itself. He said he’d think about coming back only if his childhood and that of his brother and sister could be restored. No other details were offered.
  • Altogether, we gave away 20-25 Rosaries, 2 copies of the Catechism, 2 St Benedict medals, and 1 map of area parishes.
Please pray for all these and for us again today? We plan to head downtown in just a couple of hours. Please ask God to send people to us prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Church. Please ask God to grant us all we need to reach each soul for His Kingdom?

Despite demons, the Good News goes out! So thank you again so much for your prayers and other support! In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and yours!

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him we humbly pray, and do Thou , O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell satan and all the evil spirits that roam around the world seeking the ruin of souls, Amen

Counter-witnessing to error, thanks to your ongoing prayers and support for Boise’s Catholic street evangelization efforts!
  • “Patty”, a non-Catholic Christian, no longer attends church. She came to us several times during the session. Before heading home, she had accepted the Rosary pamphlet and encouragement to pray it, a “What About Mary?” pamphlet, a Miraculous Medal, and a map to area parishes and the invitation to attend.
  • “Mike” at first didn’t want a Rosary. Professing non-belief, he began talking with evangelist Mike. The evangelist led our visitor from creation’s complexity to the question of whether we have a purpose. By the end of the conversation, “Mike” had accepted a Rosary and pamphlet “for his wife” (an inactive Catholic), as well as a map of area parishes and an invitation to attend. “Mike” was heading to the store for food; we pray he gained food for thought as well.
  • The semi-annual assembly of a non-Christian sect was being held in the sports arena. Since our debate with some members of the group a few years ago, convention attendees carefully avoid us. This leads me to think 1) perhaps our previous encounter was “successful” and helped certain influential members leave the sect, and 2) perhaps attendees were avoiding us under threat of “shunning”, the sect’s most painful punishment. Two security-uniformed men were watching everyone. At any rate, the fashionably dressed participants steered clear of our table or politely said no to receiving a Rosary.
  • But one man was glad to see us there. Dressed casually, he repeatedly thanked us for being a counter-witness to that group of “crazy” people, their incoherent tenets, and their close-mindedness to rational argument. He accepted a Rosary, but was attempting to meet up with someone. When his party appeared, they were a fashionably dressed mother and two young girls (who had previously declined our offer of a Rosary).
  • Altogether, we gave away 8-10 Rosaries and pamphlet, a Catholic Bible, 2 Miraculous Medals, 3-4 maps of area parishes, and a “What about Mary?” pamphlet.
Please pray for each of these people? And please pray for us again today? We plan to head downtown soon. Please ask God to send people to us, hearts open to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ, that He grant us all we need to reach each soul for Him, and that much fruit for His Kingdom comes of our effort.

Visibly claiming to be Catholic, by itself, is a counter-witness to error. God hears your prayers, because without Him we could accomplish nothing. So thank you so much! In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and yours!

Repeated “miracles” show God’s hand visibly at work. So thank you again so much for your ongoing prayers and support for Boise’s Catholic street evangelization effort. God sees.
  • God wrought another “weather miracle” for the Boise apostolate last week. A freak Spring snowstorm had just dumped a quick 2 inches of snow in the area. It was still coming down at evangelist Bill’s house when he headed downtown, about 5 minutes away. But then the sun came out and, by the time our team started arriving, the tops of the cobblestones were already dry enough to set up out in the open. The sky remained clear and blue, making us think of the Our Lady’s mantle of protection. Between the now-beautiful weather and the flower-and-garden show in the convention center, there was plenty of foot traffic. Glory be to God!
  • “Jerrel” and “Amanda” spent some time chatting with evangelist Bill. Non-Catholic Christians, they were a bit leery of us at first. But once they understood that the Rosary was about Jesus, they warmed up to it. As Bill found common points of connection with the pair, it reminded me that the first step toward conversion is the building of trust. In the end, since Jerrel and Amanda were new to Boise and didn’t currently attend any church, they accepted a map of area parishes and the invitation to attend Easter services, even the Triduum, if they liked.
  • Several other non-Catholic Christian groups stopped briefly, including a mother with children, and then three young women in their early teens. Most of these people, too, once they understood that the Rosary was about Jesus, accepted one for themselves.
  • “Anna” was part of a signature-gathering crew working the area. She talked a while with evangelist Mike, and accepted a Rosary and its pamphlet.
  • Several active Catholics, with “lots of Rosaries at home”, gave us encouragement. We ask them to pray for us.
  • A non-Christian man and his toddler were dressed in matching shark sweatshirts, complete with fins. The dad got a Rosary for his son and accepted the pamphlet describing the devotion. Asked if he went to church, he mentioned going to a non-Christian place of prayer.
  • Altogether, we three evangelists gave away 20-25 Rosaries and its booklet, plus 1 map of area parishes.
Please pray for us again today, Easter Sunday! We plan to gather downtown in just a couple of hours from now. Please ask God to send people to us prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Church. Please ask God to grant us evangelists what we need to spread the astonishing news of the Resurrection and God’s love for us. Please pray that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s effort.

God continues to encourage the Boise team, in response to your prayers and other support for us! So thank you again! In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and yours!

Walking out on his church that day, he found us! So thank you again for your prayers for Boise’s Catholic street evangelization effort.
  • A repeat visitor made a beeline to our table as we set up. His request: a turquoise (mind you) Rosary for a niece. Just happened to have one today. (Another big thank you to our Rosary maker volunteers!)
  • A homeless man held an extended conversation with evangelist Mike, who challenged some of his unquestioned beliefs. The visitor believes in Jesus but that the relationship is personal and so there’s no need to go to church. Mike then led him in a lively debate around the question: if he believes in the Bible, why doesn’t he go to church since Jesus founded one? No good answer for that one. Please pray for him.He accepted a St. Michael card from us.
  • A man came up and asked if the Books of Wisdom and Tobit were in the Catholic Bibles we were giving away (thanks to our benefactors!). His mother-in-law is Catholic and talks about stories in those books. Evangelist Lucy showed him where the Book of Wisdom was, and suggested he also read 2 Maccabees for an amazing story of courage under persecution.
  • Then a man approached who had walked out on his non-Catholic Christian service that very morning. Despite it’s being Easter Sunday, the message there focused on popular culture entertainment and never even mentioned Jesus. He accepted not only a Catechism but a copy of our map to area parishes. He said he’d start attending this weekend!
  • “Adam”, who recently had foot surgery, was looking for the person in charge of survey jobs. He didn’t want to wait for prayer, but evangelists Mike and Lucy prayed for him as soon as he stepped away.
  • A man with an arm in a cast from a skiing accident, did accept a brief prayer from us. Evangelist Mike was led to pray about how fragile life is and how we need God. He accepted a Rosary.
  • A man and woman passed by, then he came back to accept a Rosary. As he was leaving, Evangelist Mike warned him about his shoelace being untied. When he knelt down to tie it, Mike teased him about his girlfriend perhaps mistaking the gesture and thinking he was proposing. Judging from the look on her face, that hit home. Please pray for them?
  • Altogether, although foot traffic was light, we two evangelists gave away 10-12 Rosaries, 1 Miraculous Medal, 2 maps of area parishes, 1 Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1 Catholic Bible, 1 St. Michael prayer card, and 1 3rd-class relic of St. Monica.
Please pray for us again today, Divine Mercy Sunday? Please ask God to send people to us to receive the Good News about Jesus Christ and His Church. Please ask that much fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s effort.

Those looking for Truth are finding us, thanks to your ongoing prayers and other support for our apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and yours!

Divine Mercy at work, thanks to your ongoing prayers and support for Boise’s Catholic street evangelization apostolate.
  • A Catholic couple helped get our supplies to the evangelization site. Unfortunately, they entertain deep distrust for certain Church leaders. Evangelist Lucy encouraged them to trust in the Holy Spirit, which they said they do. Please pray for unity within the Church?
  • In separate encounters, someone compared the Rosary to non-Christian meditation beads. The first was a woman, identifying as Christian. She accepted a Rosary, its pamphlet, a quick explanation of the devotion, and encouragement to actually pray it, “since many people find an un-explainable peace” when they do. The second was a non-Christian man. Besides Rosary, pamphlet, and explanation (“I believe it”, he said about the peace experience), he also accepted a copy of our Good News/kerygma pamphlet.
  • Evangelist Mike again conversed with “Walt”, the homeless man from last week. Walt mostly talked about his aches and pains, including the recent back injury he got in “a mix-up”. Evangelist Mike offered a quick prayer for his healing.
  • Meanwhile, a survey taker stopped to talk with evangelist Lucy, simply out of boredom. He was not interested in what we offered, so she didn’t push, which surprised him. He was raised a non-Catholic Christian but lost his faith when his desire to audibly converse with Jesus was not realized. The evangelist talked a little philosophy with him. But when he asked if there were non-humans on other planets who needed a savior, he heard “I don’t know” as evasive rather than simply a statement of fact. So the evangelist declared what she did know: “There is a God; He sent His Son, Who died and rose from the dead, is alive now, and will come again to judge; the living will then get to live in His new creation where there will be no more crying or dying or pain.” The man smiled patronizingly and took his leave. Please pray that seeds were planted?
  • An older couple said they had Rosaries at home. Evangelist Mike offered them a pamphlet that showed the new Luminous Mysteries and they gladly accepted it.
  • Two boys in their early teens stopped. One was a Christian and accepted a Rosary, its booklet, and the encouragement to sit down and actually pray it. His companion was not Christian, but also accepted Rosary and brief explanation. He then accepted a copy of our kerygma pamphlet.
  • Altogether, the two evangelists gave away 10-15 Rosaries and its booklet, as well as 2 Good News/kerygma pamphlets.
Please pray for us again today? We plan to head downtown in just a couple of hours. Please ask God to send people to us and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts?

We offer the Good News about Jesus Christ, so thank you for your ongoing prayers and support! In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and yours!

Speaking the Truth, thanks to your ongoing prayer for Boise’s Catholic street evangelization effort.
  • A young adult couple stopped to get a free Rosary. He was raised Catholic but now belongs to a pseudo-Christian religion. However, he has respect for Pope Francis since he apologized for alleged offenses given to certain groups of people. We offered him a map of local parishes and invited him to get reconnected. He seemed open to do so, but said he would look them up online. He also accepted our last pocket-sized copy of the Gospel according to St Luke.
  • Evangelist Mike then entered into a long conversation/argument with “David Michael”, who had talked at length with evangelist Lucy a year or so ago. David identifies as Catholic and occasionally attends Mass. But he is also involved in an Eastern meditation group and was handing out pamphlets about how members of that group were being persecuted to death in another country. David began discussing with evangelist Mike how to spread love in the world. David also had an interesting take on St. Michael the Archangel, assuming he had a body. Evangelist Mike told him that angels are pure spirit and do not have bodies. Mike then challenged him to bring us credible evidence for his case. David departed smiling and was invited to return for more lively conversation. During the course of the conversation, he had accepted our pamphlet on Suffering and, later, a St Michael holy card. Please pray for him?
  • “Annika”, a non-Catholic Christian with Catholic friends, accepted a Rosary, explanation, and brochure. Annika and her church group are planning a trip to Rome this summer, to which she is looking forward. Please pray they all discover the primacy of the Catholic Church there?
  • On her second trip past our table, a non-Catholic Christian woman changed her mind about receiving a Rosary. She seemed, though, a little leery. Evangelist Lucy assured her that many non-Catholic Christians have begun to pray it, and some have even come back to tell us that it helps them “walk closer” with Jesus. That seemed to reassure her, and she also gladly accepted the booklet explaining the devotion.
  • Altogether, the two evangelists gave away 15-20 Rosaries, about that many booklets, at least one map of area parishes, one pamphlet on the “Meaning of Suffering”, one copy of the Gospel of St. Luke, and one St. Michael holy card.
Please pray for us again today? As far as I know, one evangelist will be available. Please ask God to grant us a session that bears much good fruit for His Kingdom.

Sometimes, people need to be challenged about their erroneous beliefs. And thanks to your ongoing prayers and other support, our team members can do some of that. So, thank you again! In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and yours!

“But I am not alone” (John 16:32), thanks to your ongoing prayer support for Boise’s Catholic street evangelization effort. Here are some highlights from our last session.
  • I gave away 3 Rosaries before I had even set any out. The first man who stopped was not Catholic, but was familiar with the Rosary because his neighbor has been trying to get him to pray it. He enjoys going into Catholic churches just to sit. He accepted a Rosary and its booklet, as well as a map to area parishes, with local Mass times.
  • Blustery winds seemed to discourage foot traffic. Once, a man with a dog had just declined my offer of a Rosary when a gust of wind blew pamphlets off the table. As I was holding down the rest of “my stock”, he chased after and retrieved the adventurous papers. Coincidentally, once I began praising the Holy Spirit, Who blows where He wills, the problem with wind gusts went away.
  • Twice more, a couple stopped when the man showed interest in the Rosaries. Both men were non-Catholic Christians and listened to the explanation of the devotion. One of them said he “would sit down and try it”. Please pray for them?
  • One of a pair of skateboarders in their early teens stopped for a free Rosary. He and his friend then used one of the grills surrounding a tree to set up a jumping ramp. And their conversation remained respectful.
  • Another group of three teenagers stopped. All were non-Catholic Christians, and at least two accepted a Rosary. Their initial, looking-for-trouble attitude seem to change during the brief visit as they perhaps remembered their Christian upbringing. May God bless them.
  • A man and his date stopped because he wanted a Rosary. He “used to be Catholic”, so I encouraged him to sit down and pray it. He then asked for a Rosary for his brother. I let him have one as well as a Miraculous Medal. His girlfriend quietly chose a Rosary for herself.
  • Shortly before I left, an “anti-war” student set up at a picnic table near me to invite passersby to his event. Since it was sponsored by a socialist/communist group at the local university, I declined. He, in turn, declined my offer of a Rosary, even when presented as “a prayer for peace.” God help us! How can an anti-God political system will lead to peace or justice?
  • All in all, the evangelist gave away 12-15 Rosaries, 1 map of area parishes, 1 kerygma pamphlet, and 1 Miraculous Medal.
Please pray for us again today? Please ask God to send people to us prepared to receive the good news about Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Church, that He allow us to reach each soul for Him, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.

God continues to protect and encourage us! So thank you again for your prayers and other support for our team. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and yours!
