Please send up a prayer again for the Boise Catholic street evangelization team that is planning to head downtown again in just a few hours. Please pray that God will bless this work so that it bears much fruit for His Kingdom, that He will prepare the hearts and minds of the people passing by so they will take a serious look at His Catholic Church and the hope it offers for eternal salvation in Christ Jesus, and that He will use our members for His loving will. Thank you and may God bless you and yours!

Please pray for the Boise Catholic street evangelization team that is planning to head downtown again in a few hours. There is a big Christmas tree festival going on, so lots of people should be about. Please ask God for pleasant weather for us so that Boiseans are encouraged to come outside and feel free to spend time at our table. And, of course, please pray for the effectiveness of our ministry and that people will come to us with hearts prepared to take Jesus Christ and His Church seriously from this day forward. May God bless all of you.

I can’t thank you enough for your prayers last week! When God repeats His miracles, sometimes it’s tempting to no longer see it as so miraculous. But the steady downpour of rain we had in Boise last week stopped about an hour before our Catholic street evangelization team headed out. By the time we got downtown, the clouds had lifted significantly and it did feel comparatively pleasant out. (See? God hears your prayers. All thanks and praise to Him!)

And, again, there was one table in “our” little park by the convention center that was significantly less wet than the others. After brushing off what water we could, a slight breeze sprang up. [Praised be Jesus Christ, now and forever. Amen!] By the time the Rosaries were set out, the rest of the table could be completely dried off by just wiping it by hand. So the paper pamphlets could all be set up without damaging any of them. We had a good crowd come by and two men even noticed that our table alone was dry and recognized God’s hand at work.

We’re planning to head downtown again today in a couple of hours despite the sub-zero numbers currently showing on the thermometer. PLEASE keep those prayers going up. We can do nothing without Him. But, with Him, all things are possible, including having lots of people out, with eyes to see us and hearts open to the call to salvation from Jesus Christ and His Church. Thank you again and may God also bless you and yours!

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen

Thank you, captainrick and all of you who prayed for the Boise Catholic street evangelization team last week. Subzero temperatures are quite unusual here in Boise and considered severe weather. Yet, within minutes of my post and captainrick’s appeal for Our Blessed Mother’s help, the temperature jumped to above zero; it then continued to slowly climb until it had nearly reached the double digits by the time we headed out.

When we got downtown, one of our evangelists got cold feet and almost had us convinced to head back home before we had even set up. As we stood there in indecision, a man came by. So we offered him a Rosary. He enthusiastically accepted it and an explanation of what it is and where he could find its Mysteries in his Bible. Encouraged, we decided to set up. Before we even got everything laid out on the table, we had given away three Rosaries and a Bible to very interested people! We concluded that God wants us out there trying to reach lost souls and that His mother is pulling for us.

Please pray for us again this week as two of us head again to downtown Boise in a few hours: that God will bring people to us with their hearts prepared to take Jesus Christ and His Church seriously before it’s too late, that He will give us the wisdom, the manner, and the words to best reach each of these precious souls, and that much fruit for His Kingdom will result from our efforts today.

Please pray also for the rest of the evangelization team who will be leading a door-to-door campaign at the same time in Nampa, about 30 miles away: that God will use their efforts to bring many people to (or back to) the Church and the practice of the Faith.

Thank you again for your prayer support! God is good. The Nampa team visited about 600 homes near their parish, giving out Christmas cards and a letter from the pastor with their Christmas Mass times. The downtown Boise team gave away about 20 Rosaries and literature about the Catholic Church to people who showed a real interest. Without your prayers, all of this wouldn’t have happened! Thank you so much.

Please pray for us again today. The Nampa team is already out, trying to visit the last 250 homes on their list. The Boise team is planning to head downtown again in just a couple of hours. Our prayer is that God will open people’s eyes to see His Church for the beauty that she is, and that they will be granted a sense of peace when they look seriously at her, that they recognize the Catholic Church as the way that Jesus Christ founded that leads to Himself and eternal happiness, and that the Holy Spirit will plant a hunger in each of their souls for full Communion with Him and His bride, the Church.

May God bless you and grant you a blessed Christmas.

Thank you so much for your continued prayer support for the Catholic street evangelization ministry in Boise, Idaho. Last week was disappointing. Although about 100 people passed by our table, NOT ONE accepted a Rosary, and ONLY one even accepted a brochure. People just weren’t experiencing that hunger for the Lord. (I’ve noticed a similar phenomenon on Easter and Mother’s Day–almost as if a minor act of charity or an hour spent at a church service somehow made everything right between them and the Lord, made them no longer need a Savior.)

So please pray for us again today as we head out again in little more than an hour: that the Holy Spirit will draw the people of Boise toward Him–truly present in the Church founded by Jesus Christ, that they will recognize for their ongoing need for the salvation that only Jesus can give, and that we will have the words and manner that will make us effective witnesses for Him.

May God continue to bless you and yours in this holy Christmas season!

Thank you, everyone, for your prayers. The week following the last post was markedly better. Even though only four people stopped to chat, two were seriously seekers and one accepted a Bible to take home and read. Last week, some kind of bug took out some key members of the team and the rest decided to take the week off. 😦

Please pray for us again today as we plan to head out in little over an hour. May God send many people to us with eyes to see the beauty of His Church and hearts open to Jesus Christ. Please pray for our evangelists, too, that they will have the courage and ability to continue to offer Jesus to those in Boise. As our beloved Pope Francis says, “we are convinced from personal experience that it is not the same thing to have known Jesus as not to have known him, not the same thing to walk with him as to walk blindly, not the same thing to hear his word as not to know it, and not the same thing to contemplate him, to worship him, to find our peace in him, as not to.” (Evangelii gaudium, 266)

Praying from today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

INTERCESSIONS

Let us give thanks continually to Christ, our teacher and our head, who came to serve and to do good to all. In humility and confidence let us ask him:
– Come, Lord, to visit your family.

Lord, be present to the bishops and priests of your Church, who share your role as head and shepherd,
may they lead your people to the Father under your guidance.
– Come, Lord, to visit your family.

May your angel be with all who travel,
to keep them safe in soul and body.
– Come, Lord, to visit your family.

Teach us to serve the needs of others,
and to be like you, who came to serve, not to be served.
– Come, Lord, to visit your family.

Grant that in the human family, brother may always help brother,
so that, with your assistance, it may be a city compact and strong.
– Come, Lord, to visit your family.

Have mercy on all the dead,
bring them to the vision of your glory.
– Come, Lord, to visit your family.

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Concluding Prayer

O God,
who have commanded us to listen to your beloved Son,
be pleased, we pray,
to nourish us inwardly by your word,
that, with spiritual sight made pure,
we may rejoice to behold your glory.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
– Amen.

DISMISSAL

May the Lord bless us,
protect us from all evil and bring us to everlasting life.
– Amen.
Amen!

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Thank you again so much for your prayers. Thank you, too, to josie L and chero23 for your encouraging posts! Last week, although we got rained out about 15 minutes before closing, we had a good turnout and good responses from people. In particular, we were able to encourage one man to return to Mass and the Sacraments as he was beginning to try to regain his feet after a battle with addictions. We also gave him a Bible.

Please pray for us again today as we plan to head into downtown Boise a few hours from now. (And, if you see this post later, please pray anyway – God is outside of time and you can always ask Him to backdate your prayer.) Please ask the Lord to send people to us with their hearts prepared to see their need for God and the beauty and value of His Church, and that He will grant us the words, the manner, and the wisdom to help each precious soul – especially the lost – to move towards Him.

Please pray again for the Boise Catholic street evangelization team, heading out this afternoon–on Super Bowl Sunday. Not many of the evangelists are available, so we need EXTRA prayer support! Please pray that the Lord will send folks to us with hearts prepared to give Jesus Christ and His Bride, the Catholic Church, the consideration they deserve and that He will give us the words, the wisdom, and the manner to bring them forward on their journey to Christ. Thank you and may God bless you and yours!

Oh, thank you so much for remembering to pray for us again today! I forgot to post my prayer request before I headed out.

After weeks of gray skies and the last several days of ice, rain, and slush, God granted us sunshine and blue skies today. Therefore, many people were out walking in downtown Boise. And many people were happy to receive Rosaries and brochures about where its Mysteries are in the Bible. One un-churched 20-something man was so interested in actually learning about the Catholic Church that he gladly accepted a Bible and our flyer on the Catholic 101 (drop-in inquiry class) that is being offered at a local parish. He and his friend were also excited to receive Miraculous Medals blessed by Pope Francis himself.

So thank you again for your prayer support. At one point I became discouraged, but looked up and there, against a perfectly blue sky, was a group of fluffy white clouds forming a image of the Sacred Heart. So, I took heart and continued. It was after this that the young men approached our table. God is good!

Please pray for the Catholic street evangelization team in Boise, Idaho. We are planning to head downtown again this afternoon. A first-time evangelist may be joining us, although we haven’t received confirmation of that from her. Another team member has been under attack, out of the blue, on a personal level. This probably means, as St. Jean Vianney would smilingly say after any especially distressing night of spiritual battle, “Big fish today!” But we NEED your prayer support–we’re all weak and imperfect human beings, and without God we can accomplish nothing. And there are so many lost souls out there who don’t even know they’re in trouble. Please send up a prayer for us today?

Thank you for your prayers last week! We had unusually nice weather in downtown Boise and therefore many people were out. One about 30-year-old woman had completely crossed the plaza and then turned around and came back to us. She knew nothing about the Catholic Faith and not only took a Rosary and several introductory brochures. A young man in college did the same thing a bit later on. So thank you for your prayers that people come to us with hearts prepared to take a serious look at the Catholic Church and their need for Jesus Christ.

Please pray for us again this week as we head out again in just a couple of hours. There are many souls out there in need of a Savior, but we can do nothing by ourselves. May God bless you and yours, too!

Thank you so much for your prayers: an incredible session last Sunday. We had two new evangelists show up. They were too shy to talk to people at first, so they stood to one side and prayed the Rosary for us. Wow! Immediately people flocked to us. One woman had been traumatized because, years ago, she had donated an egg and then found out that the embryo (her baby) had been used for embryonic stem cell research. It left deep psychological as well as spiritual wounds. Beginning to heal, she was trying to decide where to go for Baptism. One of our evangelists talked to her at length and gave the woman her contact information.

Please pray for us today as we plan to head to downtown Boise again in just a few hours. There are so many people who desperately need Jesus but don’t even know it. I think He is blessing our efforts to reach them. But we need YOUR continued prayer support! We can do nothing without Him. So, please send up a prayer (or even a Rosary) for our ministry today. Please?

Thank you for your prayers last week. Although we got rained out a half an hour early, we gave away our coffee-table sized vintage Bible (with Paul VI pictured as the current Pope) to our first visitor. It turns out this man was practically the only one who stopped to talk with us that day. In Boise, a few drops of rain mean a downpour of icy water is only moments away. Therefore, people here disappear (or are hurrying toward shelter) at the least sign of rain. This really dampens our ability to reach them.

So, please pray for us again today as we head back to downtown Boise in a couple of hours. Besides asking the Lord to prepare people’s hearts to recognize their need for a Savior and the help available in the Church that He founded, it’s actually quite important to also ask Him for pleasant weather so people will step outside and encounter us.

Thank you and may God bless you and yours!

Thank you for your prayers again for the Boise Catholic street evangelization team, planning to head downtown in just a couple of hours.

Last week we got rained out about 2/3 of the way through our session–for the second week in a row. So, I’m asking half-again MORE prayers from you this week. 😉 Please? As soon as the weather is nice, lots of people venture outdoors and many of them are in the mood to stop and talk about the Faith. But when the weather turns wet, people either huddle indoors or are in too much of a hurry to reach indoors to take a serious look at us. So, please pray for our ministry? This is God’s work, and without Him we can do nothing.

May God continue to bless you and yours!

Thank you for your prayers last week. God granted us a perfectly beautiful spring day, the first of the season, so tons of people were out. Here are a few of the highlights of the Boise Catholic street evangelization session last week (and, please, send up a prayer for each of these people and their need for the Church):

Briz - stationed at the nearby Air Force base. Although baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church, he now considers himself an agnostic but is still seeking for Truth. Asked if he ever thought that he might die soon, he answered, “Every day.” He took a Rosary for his Mom.

Kacey - a seeker from a nearby town. We told her about her local parish there and about the Transfiguration.

Jesse - was baptized and confirmed Catholic but is not currently attending Mass. He says he plans to go to church but never makes it. We pointed out the Cathedral near here that has a Mass this evening and he said he’d really try to get there. He accepted a Rosary, pamphlets on Confession and Salvation, and a Bible.

Lorna - goes to the Church of Christ, but “respects all religions.” Her problem is with people kissing the Pope’s ring. She thinks that only Christ should be honored that way. She agreed that there can only be one “Truth.” We told her that Jesus established only “one” Church and it is our responsibility to find it and believe in its teachings. And, last but not least, PLEASE send up a prayer or three again today for us and those we’ll encounter? We head to downtown Boise in just over an hour, but we can do nothing without HIM. Thank you and may God bless you, too.

Sorry to report we didn’t make it to the street last week due to an overwhelming last-minute illness in a key team member and to other obstacles. So, I’m asking early this week for your prayer support for protection for all of our team members and for an effective time tomorrow (Sunday) in downtown Boise when we take the Catholic Faith to the streets. Thank you and may God bless you and yours!
