As long as they donât vote. And one can be a registered Democrat without fatally compromising Christian morality. Your point?

Okay, now youâve gone too far, honey. Being that Iâm an egg-sucking, possum-eating Evangelical down here in the wild green rolling hills of Pennsylvania, me and my husband/first cousin/granpa (thatâs one person there, sweetie) is gonna hafta hog-tie you (the hog can go loose fur a bit) and drag you down here to larn you summething. Donât you worry, we got good eats here.
Or you can just visit Redeemer Presbyterian as stated to rectify your ignorance. (Iâm still not sure if youâre kidding through all those posts regarding your ideas of Evangelicals or if youâre really that ignorant.)

So you are surprised that"smart" people are evangelicals? If an organization was present in your backyard that stands for so much of what you disagree with (marriage equality, mixing religion and state, etc.), would you not be a little disturbed too?
Also, I would have expected an evangelical church out in the booniesâŚNot the Upper East Side of Manhattan!
I can tell youâre not a lawyer, as you are evidently unaware that most of the law is premised on Judeo Christian principles. In times past, judges even admitted to that. Now they donât, but they still follow precedent. Religion is very tightly interwoven with English-derived jurisprudence, and always has been. There are, of course, some modern deviations based on a pagan view of society. If an organization was present in your backyard that stands for so much of what you disagree with (marriage equality, mixing religion and state, etc.), would you not be a little disturbed too?

You are assuming, of course, that any of us wants to be kept posted.Iâm being tongue in check. The âspeaking in tongueâ and âbooniesâ comment was a jokeI am seriously planning on attending service at evangelical Redeemer Presbyterian soon. I am genuinely curious about what they are up too. I will keep yâall posted.
One party is pro-abortion (at any time of the pregnancy mostly) and pro gay so called marriage. The other is not. How are they in any way equal regarding those 2 positions? Both political parties are culpable. Probably equally culpable if truth be told.
Neither come to the issue with âclean handsâ
SeriouslyYou are assuming, of course, that any of us wants to be kept posted.![]()
By restricting the determination of the issue to only two subjects. Why would you do this? One party is pro-abortion (at any time of the pregnancy mostly) and pro gay so called marriage. The other is not. How are they in any way equal regarding those 2 positions?
In all seriousness, one has to keep some things in mind in doing that. The âspeaking in tongueâ and âbooniesâ comment was a jokeI am seriously planning on attending service at evangelical Redeemer Presbyterian soon. I am genuinely curious (and a bit uncomfortable) about what they are up too and about. I will keep yâall posted.
Depends, do they believe the Earth was created in 6 days?So you are surprised that"smart" people are evangelicals?
Not to derail the thread, but âEvangelicalsâ are a broad bunch. Some take the 6 day account in Genesis literally, manyâIâd say mostâdonât. Itâs not a central or defining doctrine for us by any means.Depends, do they believe the Earth was created in 6 days?![]()
Why now, he looks just like my husband/first cousin/grandpa!
If your attendance to one of the services is done in good faith (i.e. not -"itâs cheaper than a movie ticket and we can make fun of them afterwards) and the speaking in tongues thing was a poorly executed joke I would like to retract my comment related you one of your prior posts. The âspeaking in tongueâ and âbooniesâ comment was a jokeI am seriously planning on attending service at evangelical Redeemer Presbyterian soon. I am genuinely curious (and a bit frightened) about what they about and up too in my neighborhood.
I was thinking âgood for herâ until I saw what you put in parenthesis. It completely discounts your earlier remarks and makes your âwas a jokeâ defense less than believable. The âspeaking in tongueâ and âbooniesâ comment was a jokeI am seriously planning on attending service at evangelical Redeemer Presbyterian soon. How is voting for Charlie Melancon or Joe Manchin evil again? As long as they donât vote.
Before 2010, there were 64 just in the House, plus another 3-5 in the Senate. So itâs not nearly as hard to find pro-life Democrats as people want you to think. However, their numbers have been successfully (and very sadly) diminished through Republican gerrymandering.I guess if he doesnât vote for Democrats, he could. Well, Iâll admit, NARAL and NRL both identified six or seven prolife Democrats in congress. I guess one could vote for them.
There arenât Protestant religions youâre frightened of? Iâm certainly frightened of many Protestant religions that border on encouraging violence. The Westboro Baptists, for example, though I do want to post a disclaimer that they are not related to the Southern Baptists since some people donât know. Iâm also frightened of âChristianâ religions that I donât consider to be Christian such as Mormonism, but for different reasons that border more on heavy misguidance of the soul into evil.I was thinking âgood for herâ until I saw what you put in parenthesis. I hope your experience helps you grow a little.
Does Harlem count as âthe booniesâ?If an organization was present in your backyard that stands for so much of what you disagree with (marriage equality, mixing religion and state, etc.), would you not be a little disturbed too?

Thatâs a lot of fear. I trust in God, so I donât have those issues. There arenât Protestant religions youâre frightened of? Then of course there are the individual churches within some Protestant denominations with individual pastors that preach violence or child abuse that frighten me.
