Just out of interest, do you believe that homosexual activity is a sin?
PS - OP not trying to derail your thread, won’t get extensively sidetracked into a debate about homosexuality.

Just out of interest, are you comfortable calling Fr. Martin a “heretic” on this board?

Don’t you think that’s what He meant when He said “Go and sin no more”?
I.e. - He said she was sinning, and He would not condemn her for it, but she ought not to continue in her sin.
Or what does “go and sin no more” mean to you?
It’s a headscratcher! 🤣

Fr. Martin is certainly trying to think up explanations why it isn’t. He goes so far as to admitting homosexual activity is condemned in the Bible and then questioning the text. One of the ‘many more’ examples you mentioned @sealabeag.

No problem. I suppose it’s linked to the discussion, as it seems to be the one topic Fr. James Martin is obsessed with.

As far as I am aware he hasn’t officially come out as gay, and there is no definitive proof of him being gay, but his actions and words would suggest it’s highly likely he might be because LGBT stuff seems to be the main thing he talks about.
That’s very unjust. Many priests and religious have ministries to particular groups without being secretly part of that group.

But do many priests and religious have ministries and attempt to redefine and undermine the Bible? You can minister to a group that needs help without trying to undermine the teaching of the Church.

Given that he seems so desperate to find loopholes to justify homosexual activity, I highly doubt this is just a particular group or subject he has been assigned to.
And your doubt, of course, justifies making public assumptions about his sexuality.
Got it.

Newsflash. A person can gather information and come up with a theory/assumption based on that. You know academics come up with theories all the time, right?

I never said he was definitely gay. I said I think it’s highly likely he is, because I do. What’s the problem?

I’m not speculating on his private life.
I’m commenting on his public teaching.
Would a priest or religious who ministers to a group say that the people in their group should continue in their sin?
Would a priest or religious who ministers to addicts say “I long for the day when you can shoot up in church”?

I know this isn’t the first thread that has been posted on him
Far from it. And in those threads he’s been discussed to death. There isn’t anything new to say. Using the search function is a better bet than starting the whole thing up again.
