He has separated himself.
What do you mean by this? He has been living solitarily in his own residence since shortly after he joined the SOLT in 1990.
He has declared himself “formerly Father”.
The parameters of his suspension require that he no longer put himself forward with this title.
Code:
He has given himself a new name (the black sheepdog),
This is not a “new name”. It is the title of his autobiography that he chose over two years ago (all this is available info on his page). He sought a trademark on it a year before all this came about!
where Scripture tells us it is the prerogative of God to give a new persona to the faithful.
This is not a “new persona”, either. He has shared details about his testimony in many talks. He was a blacksheep, then reverted to the faith of his baptism. He has expereinced a call to guard and protect the flock of God by preaching the Truth. He has done this consistently for 20 years. The only part of his “persona” that has changed is that he can no longer call himself a priest, or allow others to do so.
. He has pumped himself up and cynically marketed his wares, and resorted to some exceptional double-speak, while watching this disaster unfold from the comfort of his ranch.
This is just speculation. And from the pain and anger in his voice messages, he is anything but “comfortable”. I wish he had handled things differently too, but I see no “cynically marketing of wares”. What “wares”? What cynicism? He is cynical about the process of investigation. What does that have to do with “wares”?
He has taken measure of himself and found that he is indispensable to his fans.
How do you figure that?
Code:
If he just wants his "sheep" to follow the Church, WHY DID HE SET UP A WEBSITE under his new persona?
This website was already set up to support his autobiography that is due to be published soon. This is not a new development for him. The allegation started a avalanche, but his rolling out of his testimony in book form has been years in construction. How does any Catholic having a website or a public persona equate to having the sheep not follow the Church? I have followed all the links to Catholic bloggers, youtube, and news feeds posted in this thread. They all have a “persona”. None of them deter the sheep from following the Church. I don’t like what some of them have to say, but that does not mean they are trying to draw me away from the Church!
Code:
Here's an idea! Get rid of the website, re-join the community and then tell people to follow the Church!
Personally, this is what I would like to see as well, but we don’t have all the facts, and we are not in a position to know what is best for him. God will guide him.
He has sewn confusion, doubt, and division with his actions. What he has said, he has said for shock value. He has threatened. He has revealed the sins of others. He has shown shocking disrespect to the ordained Bishop of Corpus Christi by turning this into a three-ring-circus. I spent the last few days ruminating on giving him the benefit of the doubt. But with the lack of clarity, the semantic gymnastics, and the hijinks with web addresses, phone messages, and non-disclosure contracts that by definition “hide” information, I’m done.
Perhaps that is best. He is not perfect, and I think he has said and done some things out of his hurt, anger and frustration that might have been better left undone. But then, all of us are guilty of that!

No, CT. Most of us don’t find these allegations “legitimate” at all.

Unfortunately for your point, Mr./Fr. Corapi’s accusers’ claims won’t be judged by the self-reported popular consensus of his devoted fans. lol

And your posts show anything but “concern” about anyone.

**I’m not masquerading as someone who is just here for ‘concern.’

Correct me if I’m wrong, but you are playing with the word concern in a less than constructive way: I used it in the sense that we ‘have reason to believe’ that this man might be cavorting with women and using drugs while behind the collar and receiving money from people like you, who buy his tapes.** His religious superiors and ecclesiastical authorities certainly have reason to believe so.

No, CT, you have not posted facts but meanness. It might behoove you to take a time out, and read the forum rules. It is a violation for you to make posts as you have, demeaning ordained clergy, whatever their current status.

If you notice factual inaccuracies or errors, please bring them to my attention. I am not ‘demeaning’ Mr./Fr. Corapi, and if you feel that I have it would behoove you to point out exactly how, so that I can amend my behavior.

If you see yourself as being abused by the situation, perhaps it would be in your best interest to separate yourself from it. This man needs our prayers right now, not vitriol.

**I see this discussion, in which people are calling this guy a prophet and comparing him to St. Paul. This is a man who has flirted with character assassination, in order to undermine his accuser. CAF deserves rational discussion, because Catholicism is a prophetic religion, not a religion of prophets. **

We are to do unto others what we would have them do unto us, not as we perceive they have already done unto us. If you feel he has treated you badly , rather than reacting so spitefully, how about exercising some fruit of the Spirit, and take up the cross?

Gal 6:2
…bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ

I don’t see how, but I will respect the fact that you are seeing things from some other perspective than I. It seems it would be in your best interests to find another focus for your attention, since your uncharitable attitude will probably get our thread closed.

**This thread is a gossip-riddled abortion. Its name isn’t even valid. Its full of mud-slinging on all sides, and is seething with a lack of charity. It would be GREAT if it were closed, and then all concrete updates on Mr./Fr. Corapi’s scandal could have their own threads. **

This is grossly disrespectful.

**I’m sorry if you feel this way, but the expression ‘straight from the horses mouth’ does not have negative overtones. Mr./Fr. Corapi lives an enviable lifestyle that is ostentatious for any religious priest, and for most lay Catholics, as well.

No disrespect is meant.**

Please note the statement I was responding to–someone stated definitively that Mr./Fr. Corapi was a good priest.
I noted that. As you can see, I resected that part of the post so it would be clear what your “not quite” response was connected to.
Code:
All-in-all, this comment of yours could have been avoided if you paid closer attention to what I said and why I said it.
Really?

I think you are making erroneous assumptions about me as well as Corapi. In fact, I found your post so insulting I went back to read several of them. I rarely report members, so when I do, I want to make sure it is not spurious.
Although I can understand why someone is reflexively defensive after even the most remote criticism of a figure that they have spent ‘literally’ days listening to.
Again you are assuming that I am “reflexively defensive”. I would have the same response, no matter who you directed rude comments toward. However, the forum rules are very specific about posting detractions about clergy on CAF.

I don’t see what you are trying to accomplish with this comment… Is this a tooth and nail battle to protect this guy, for you?

He tells us himself. Go learn from the horse’s mouth what the Stud does with his wealth.
Referring to a Catholic priest as a “Stud” is enormously disrespectful.
I’m certain that you must be aware of that fact.

i noted that. As you can see, i resected that part of the post so it would be clear what your “not quite” response was connected to.

as far as i can tell, i made two separate statements in that comment, and you somehow managed to weld them into one insulting statement. Is this correct?

really?

I think you are making erroneous assumptions about me as well as corapi. In fact, i found your post so insulting i went back to read several of them. I rarely report members, so when i do, i want to make sure it is not spurious.

so now its personal? Well, that’s not what i wanted, and i would’ve appreciated if you pm’ed me to discuss this in closer detail. Apparently you’ve made your own assumptions.

again you are assuming that i am “reflexively defensive”. I would have the same response, no matter who you directed rude comments toward. However, the forum rules are very specific about posting detractions about clergy on caf.

**i don’t know what the deal is here, and maybe i don’t want to know. It seems like you have a great deal of concern over someone you’ve likely never met. Maybe you should take a step back and cool off?

I’ve made it clear that i am not out for mr./fr. Corapi’s blood. Its just that he has an extremely devoted fan base, many of whom are obviously unwilling to brook any criticism of what’s going on here. As far as i can see, i haven’t written anything demeaning or slighting about mr./fr. Corapi in this thread.

I should also point out that, compared to the talk in the vocations and traditionalist subsections, this talk is comparatively mild. **

Referring to a Catholic priest as a “Stud” is enormously disrespectful.
I’m certain that you must be aware of that fact.
Would you prefer ‘Gelding?’ Sorry, but there are only so many equestrian terms to go around. This really isn’t as disrespectful as you’re prepared to take it, I’m sorry.

Unfortunately for your point, Mr./Fr. Corapi’s accusers’ claims won’t be judged by the self-reported popular consensus of his devoted fans. lol
You are making yet another erroneous assumption, CT. And this is no matter for “lol”.

The allegations should not be judged by “fans” or any popular media, or even fora at CAF. This thread has been allowed to remain open if we can charitably discuss the facts. You have stepped out of bounds.

Popular consensus, far from “unfortunate”, is not a factor in determining cases such as these.

I think we can all agree that the publicity around this issue has not been beneficial for the subject of investigation, or any of the parties connected to it, nor to the church at large.
I’m not masquerading as someone who is just here for ‘concern.’
Well, you are the one who said you had “legitimate concern”. 🤷

Why are you here?

Your violation of the forum rules seems to indicate you did not plan to stay. Hit and run, perhaps?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but you are playing with the word concern in a less than constructive way: I used it in the sense that we ‘have reason to believe’ that this man might be cavorting with women and using drugs while behind the collar and receiving money from people like you, who buy his tapes.
No, I don’t see any reason to believe that whatsoever. Besides, I never bought any of his materials. Yet another erroneous assumption you have made. Is this a habit?
His religious superiors and ecclesiastical authorities certainly have reason to believe so.
No, CT, they do not. Fomenting such misinformation is not productive.
I see this discussion, in which people are calling this guy a prophet and comparing him to St. Paul.
He has a strong prophetic gift, and he does seem to have a temper similar to St. Paul. Or have you forgotten, that when Paul got angry at the Judiazers for insisting that the Christians be circumcised:

Gal 5:12
12 I wish those who unsettle you would mutilate themselves!

You have to admit, there does seem to be a hint of temper there. 😃
Code:
This is a man who has flirted with character assassination, in order to undermine his accuser.
Yes, it seems that way to me too, regrettably.

Almost as bad as Judiazers with abbreviated private parts!
CAF deserves rational discussion, because Catholicism is a prophetic religion, not a religion of prophets.
Indeed it is, and Corapi has faithfully echoed that prophet religion. His series on the catechism is excellent. I highly recommend it (it was a gift, by the way).

Well, you are the one who said you had “legitimate concern”. 🤷

I did, and–as stated–I meant that there is reason to believe Mr./Fr. Corapi might have been misbehaving. Not, as you tried to imply, that I was just here because of a [cynical] cherubic concern for those I don’t know.

Why are you here?

Re-read the statement you’re quoting from, please.

Your violation of the forum rules seems to indicate you did not plan to stay. Hit and run, perhaps?

Please be more specific. As far as I can tell I haven’t violated any rules. If that last statement isn’t uncharitable, I don’t know what is. I didn’t know the ‘C’ in CAF stood for ‘Corapi.’ I guess balanced debate is beyond our capacity here.

No, I don’t see any reason to believe that whatsoever. Besides, I never bought any of his materials. Yet another erroneous assumption you have made. Is this a habit?

Once again, if his religious superiors and ecclesiastical authorities believed that there is reasonable chance that he might be doing this, then I do see a reason to believe this might be the case. Read carefully: MIGHT. BE. THE. CASE.

No, CT, they do not. Fomenting such misinformation is not productive.

There is an ecclesiastical investigation because there is a reasonable chance that he might be doing this. Are you suggesting that they’re wasting time and money on an impossibility?

The mods said that anything in the public is fair point of discussion. Fr. Corapi has often mentioned his temper in his talks. Even if one never listened to his teachings, just the recent releases would be sufficient to confirm that observation. It is not a sin to have a temper. It is a sin to let the sun go down on your anger.

Mother Angelica was talking about her temper on the radio today (pre-recorded). She said “it is a good thing they called, instead of coming over!” She cracks me up.
Further, are you SERIOUSLY defending him by saying that he was SIMILAR IN VICE with a saint?
I don’t think I would go that far. I did compare his sense of vocation about preaching to Paul. I do think he has a “woe to me if I preach not the gospel” sense about himself.

Actually, I think it was the “knife slipping” that caused the absence of it that I introduced, and the temper that fomented such an image. 😉

To quote a colleague “codswallop”.

You know what? You’re right about the ‘stud’ remark, and if I could delete it, I probably would. CAF does not allow posts to be deleted.

However, I didn’t mean it in its worst way–only as a reference to the fact that Mr./Fr. Corapi, even as an ordained priest, is still living life in the fast lane and to jive with my ‘straight from the horse’s mouth’ metaphor.

This still pales in comparison with how less-popular bishops, priests, lay posters, &c. are dragged through the mud–in this subsection and others. You clearly find my posts to be a ‘disruption’ because I’m making terrifically good sense in criticizing someone who you’ve devoted hundreds of hours listening to. I’m sorry, but it looks like you should consider finding a better way of allocating your time and money. :-\

Congratulations, you’ve lived up to the etymologically literal roots of your name.

He has spent the last 20 years making up for lost time by teaching the faith constantly with very few breaks.

You are spewing those erroneous assumptions again, CT. I have spent hundreds of hours studying the Catholic faith, here on CAF, listening to online broadcasts (I don’t get EWTN) and Catholic radio. Although I contribute to CAF and Immaculate Heart radio, Corapi has not been the beneficiaries of my charitable contributions or purchases. That being said, I have not found a better source for the study of my faith than CAF. I have learned more listening to Fr. Corapi and the other fine speakers on Catholic radio than I learned in half a century previously. My catechesis as a youth was very poor, and this has been corrected in the last few years by these great resources. Who are you to tell me I should look elsewhere?
congratulations, you’ve lived up to the etymologically literal roots of your name.
As an organic gardener, I can confidently assert that there are no more nutritious sources of plant food anywhere. 😉

Now for some nutrients on your request about violating forum rules:
…Our bishops are finally cracking down on the miscreants behind the collar, and I mean that without exception–by hook or by crook, the filth is being purged from the Church.

Now that the whole tension between (b) and (c) is removed from his repertoire, because–duh–he’s no longer a priest (i.e., in active ministry) and it wouldn’t exactly be wise for him to dwell on how hopelessly sinful he has been given the present scandal, his shtick is reduced to (a) his Darth Vader voice. Which we’ll be able to hear a lot in coming weeks, as he struggles to carve out a place for himself in what Michael Voris calls the media of ‘professional Catholics.’
I commend you to reflect on the content of this post in the light of the forum rules.

Identifying individual parishes, clergy, or hierarchs as “unfaithful to the Magisterium”, guilty of “liturgical abuse”, or otherwise engaged in unacceptable or unpopular practices, based on personal “knowledge” or opinion

You have opined that his financial status is incompatible with priesthood, implied that he is a “miscreant behind the collar”, that he is a “crook” and that he is part of the “filth” that must be removed from the Church. In the next paragraph you have condemned his behavior as “hopelessly sinful”.

You wanted specifics about your violation of forum rules, I hope that helps.

And what is this need that you have to apply equestrian terms to the man?

Yes, it is more disrespectful than we are prepared to take it. I am disappointed that your need to express yourself this way will probably interfere with your posting privileges.

**More than prepared to take offense–well, don’t be surprised when you find everyone lacking charity.

Consult my original ‘stud’ comment–made after I advised someone to receive Mr./Fr. Corapi’s luxurious lifestyle ‘straight from the horse’s mouth.’

Get the equestrian reference(s)? No, of course you don’t, you don’t want to cut me a break. I’m making potent arguments casting doubt on someone you inexplicably **

No, CT, you are confused. The allegations are a matter of public record. The findings of the investigations are not affected by public opinon.

**That is exactly what I meant, and my point conveyed this perfectly well. I see you’ve finally learned that this is the case, apparently I am doing some good here. **

You found a credible reason? Curious.

I need only trust the good bishops and superiors of the SOLT–don’t you?

Yes, it seems clear that you have no concern, cherubic or otherwise, of those other members of the Body of Christ that are suffering over this matter.

**This is charity?

So, I think I have more concern than the people fighting tooth and nail to shore up the reputation of someone very interested in becoming a ‘professional Catholic.’**

I just posted some links above. I doubt you have taken the time to read the forum rules, but it may be that you don’t see your posts as problematic. Unfortunately, your lack of awareness that your comments are uncharitable does not change the facts.

**So good of you to assume that… Is there a passive aggressive parallel for lack of charity, or did the Corapi Catechism skip that section entirely?

C.f. my penultimate post.**

It did cross my mind that you may not be ready to participate in CAF.

I meant those slavishly defending someone they’ve never met, as if they were a close friend or family member. But from your obstinacy, balanced demeanor, and boundless charity its clear that you’re not one of this category…

Maybe it would help if you went back and read the thread? No such "reasonable chance that he might be doing this " existed. That is not why he was suspended.

**So there’s not a reasonable chance that a recovering drug addict might relapse? The experts at Narcotics Anonymous would beg to differ…

So there’s not a reasonable chance that a wealthy, successful public figure might engage in relations with an underling? Many a wife would beg to differ…**

There is an investigation because there is an allegation. “Reasonable chance” is not a factor.

That’s actually not true.

I don’t think I would go that far. I did compare his sense of vocation about preaching to Paul. I do think he has a “woe to me if I preach not the gospel” sense about himself.

Nah, I’m pretty sure that’s what you were going for.

Actually, I think it was the “knife slipping” that caused the absence of it that I introduced, and the temper that fomented such an image. 😉

**Well, its clear where your mind is this morning. **

To quote a colleague “codswallop”.

**… uh-huh. **

It probably will not affect you, since you may not be able to post anymore at that point. Perhaps you may consider learning how to embed your quotes, for the short duration of your stay?

**Well,–since we’re in the business of making these ridiculous comparisons between ourselves and saints, &c.–they banned Jesus, too. I know how to embed quotes, its just of no value to me, whatsoever.

You’re going to get me banned on a Christian forum that you pay in order to procure an imaginary title. Whoopie!** This still doesn’t change the truth of what I’ve said.

Oye Vey!

You’re right, let’s just all submit to Mr./Fr. Corapi…

How did you try to “avoid” making such uncharitable and downright offensive comments?

Did you know you can delete a post up to 20 minutes, after you post it? Perhaps that will give you enough time to read and realize?

**Everyone makes mistakes. Rather than trying to make me feel stupid, won’t you try to squeeze in some more excuses for how you can separate the fact that you’ve listened to hundreds of hours of this man speaking from the fact that you’re compromising charity to defend Mr./Fr. Corapi. **

It’s not a question of “defense.” Rather, it seems
to be a question of your taking issue with the fact
that others will not join you in your attack.

Your posts do leave a lot by the wayside
in terms of simple charity. IMO.

Only for 20 min can you edit and delete. That is why, in the forum rules which you don’t seem to have read, it says to consider that whatever you post will be there for a long time.😉

So you’re winking at me and trying to make me feel stupid. Hm.

I don’t think you are qualified to comment on whatever “lane” he travels. What makes you think you are?

His own statements about his quality of life.

He has spent the last 20 years making up for lost time by teaching the faith constantly with very few breaks.

… and you know this, how?

Let me get this straight. You are dragging Corapi’s reputation through the mud, and you are justifying your actions by saying that worse mud dragging happens?

**There wouldn’t be any reason to say ‘pales in comparison’–bishops and priests are trounced on a regular basis. I’m only pointing out facts and happened to use an ill-thought expression (“stud”), and that’s enough for you to threaten to use your pull to ban me. Must feel good! 👍

Every priest is a potential Guy Fawkes for us here, except–of course–Mr./Fr. Corapi. I’ve made no accusations, I’ve only pointed out what’s on the record… strangely, that’s enough to hurt your feelings.**

**If this is your understanding of what it is to be a Christian gentleman, I can see the shadow of your catechist looming over the product he formed. **

As an organic gardener, I can confidently assert that there are no more nutritious sources of plant food anywhere. 😉

I work on an organic farm.

Now for some nutrients on your request about violating forum rules:

I commend you to reflect on the content of this post in the light of the forum rules.

Identifying individual parishes, clergy, or hierarchs as “unfaithful to the Magisterium”, guilty of “liturgical abuse”, or otherwise engaged in unacceptable or unpopular practices, based on personal “knowledge” or opinion ****

You have opined that his financial status is incompatible with priesthood,

Actually, I didn’t. He could own all the property in the world and still be a priest. C.f. my actual statement.

implied that he is a “miscreant behind the collar”, that he is a “crook” and that he is part of the “filth” that must be removed from the Church. In the next paragraph you have condemned his behavior as “hopelessly sinful”.

**I neither said nor implied that he was crook, filth, or a miscreant behind the collar. I applaud the bishops on their assertiveness–Mr./Fr. Corapi flushed himself out. It didn’t even take an arduous proceeding.

Rather than telling me what I said, why don’t you either try to understand what I’m saying or cite what I’ve actually said.**

You wanted specifics about your violation of forum rules, I hope that helps.

So tell me this…: will I have to sign a gag order before or after I’m banned?

I’m not asking anyone to join me, and I think its clearly manifest that this person wants desperately to salvage Mr./Fr. Corapi from the situation he’s put himself in. He just has to understand that Mr./Fr. Corapi has chosen this for himself, and to simply let it go.

CTCatholic5,

I hope that you are not banned. I think you made a mistake by using the expression ‘stud’ etc… and of course, you are opposing the apposite position desired by your opponent. But, in the same way he has learned a lot at CAF I would think that instead of getting you to violate even more forum rules he would want you to stay, regardless of the fact that you are not backing Father Corapi.

Don’t play the game… contact the moderators. Maybe they will give you a break.

May God bless you abundantly,

Abba

I think that any member who has been at CA for an extended time can well understand that there is no call for denigrating a priest who is in fact, still a priest, having been suspended from public duties. Anyone who understands the policies of CA must understand and accept that promoting a firestorm of negativity directed at any priest is unacceptable and counter-productive. To insist that any others accept/ignore your ongoing mockery of John Corapi is both useless and uncharitable.

Commission or omission - it is difficult to ignore mockery (lack of charity) directed at any priest. There is no game, only a call to charity. Good advice thought that perhaps one who has presented uncharitable posts directed at a priest might voluntarily call on a moderator. In this instance, this thread, clearly - charity must rule all comments.

Code:
More than prepared to take offense--well, don't be surprised when you find everyone lacking charity.
That is just it, CT. Although there are many posts on this thread with which I do not agree, and I think some of them reflect negative prejudice, I have not read any that are as disrespectful as yours.
Get the equestrian reference(s)? No, of course you don’t, you don’t want to cut me a break. I’m making potent arguments casting doubt on someone you inexplicably ???
Yes, I get it.

I don’t find any of your arguments “potent”.

It may seem inexplicable to you that a Catholic would have respect for a priest that has faithfully taught the Truth for 20 years.

Nothing you have said has caused me to have any “doubts” about anyone but you.
apparently I am doing some good here.
I think not. There is certainly no need to flatter yourself, either.
I need only trust the good bishops and superiors of the SOLT–don’t you?
Yes, I do trust them. I trusted them when they said they had no credible reason, that they were following the policy. I think it might behoove you to read what they wrote. You are making yourself look very foolish.
This is charity?
It is an observation on the tone of your posts.
So, I think I have more concern than the people fighting tooth and nail to shore up the reputation of someone very interested in becoming a ‘professional Catholic.’
A priest is, by definition, a “professional Catholic”. They have a full time vocation to serve the flock. Have you considered such a profession?
So good of you to assume that…
My perception of your posts as uncharitable is really of little relevance as well. You will be evaluated by the mods, in the light of the forum rules. I have tried to inform, advise, and warn you. That is all I can do. I have seen more people lose their posting privileges since I have been here than I can count. I have some experience in these observations.
Is there a passive aggressive parallel for lack of charity, or did the Corapi Catechism skip that section entirely?
You have revealed your ignorance once again, CT. Corapi taught the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The series is called “the TEaching of Jesus Christ”. It is not his. He faithfully echoes what we have received from the Apostles. You might want to consider it.
I meant those slavishly defending someone they’ve never met, as if they were a close friend or family member.
I suppose there may be such persons. I have not read anything from them. I have only read this thread, and the links that it contains. I have not seen anyone “slavish”. Fr. Corapi is a close friend and a family member to any faithful Catholic. He has taught the faith, and brought many of us back from sliding out of the faith with Truth that comes from the Magesterium. He is a family member because we are all members one of another in the Body of Christ.
But from your obstinacy,
Does my lack of appreciation of your insulting comments mean I am obstinant?
So there’s not a reasonable chance that a recovering drug addict might relapse? The experts at Narcotics Anonymous would beg to differ…
You are revealing your ignorance once again. there are no “experts” in NA. They are all non professionals, one beggar telling another beggar where to find the bread. And if you knew anything about relapse, you would understand that people avoid it by surrounding themselves with protective factors. The more one avoids risky situations, then less chance there is of relapse. There is absolutely no evidence that Corapi has engaged in any behaviors differnent than the structures he has in his life for the past 20 years that have kept him clean and sober.
So there’s not a reasonable chance that a wealthy, successful public figure might engage in relations with an underling? Many a wife would beg to differ…
No, I think this is not a reasonable expectation to have of Corapi. Nor would I have that expectation of any priest.
There is an investigation because there is an allegation. “Reasonable chance” is not a factor.

That’s actually not true.
You have a lot of reading to do. Maybe you can do that instead of posting?
Nah, I’m pretty sure that’s what you were going for.
And speaking of Mother Angelica, one of her favorite sayings is “we are all called to be saints - don’t miss the opportunity”. Corapi believes this as much as any faithful Catholic. Is there some reason that he should not strive to be saintly?
Well,–since we’re in the business of making these ridiculous comparisons between ourselves and saints, &c.–they banned Jesus, too. I know how to embed quotes, its just of no value to me, whatsoever.
This may come as a shock to you, but sometimes it is expedient to conform oneself to patterns of expression that are acceptable in a certain venue. Here at CAF, it is customary and recommended to use the quote features. It reduces confusion about who said what. You may be used to only doing what is of value to yourself, and it may be beyond your normal way of life to act in a way that benefits others, but I thought it was worth asking. Can’t blame me for trying!
