Why is this thread continuing?

Catholicism is incompatible with Freemasonry. Catholics who are Freemasons are in a state of mortal sin and may not receive Communion. That is the official Church position.
End of story.

No attempt here.
I was just thinking that if the Holy Father, who is simply amazing, can state in a frank and honest discussion that he wasn’t standing in judgment of others due to a particular lifestyle then we can certainly open our hearts and minds to other huge blocks in society.

I see the Holy Father opening all sorts of doors that should have been thrown open long ago. Amazing forgiveness and acceptance from that man. Truly a servant of God.

As Jesus stated “let he who is without sin, cast the first stone”.

… then we can certainly open our hearts and minds to other huge blocks in society.
“We” do not have the authority nor the prerogative to do that. That would be ***taking advantages ***of the pastoral charity of our Holy Father. That is what the secular media does… 🤷 The Holy Father expresses his Christian love towards a group of people and the secular media immediately **twists his words *to say that he approves of their lifestyle., You may love that sinner but you can never *condone the sin.
Jesus loved the prostitute who washed his precious feet, but he added: “Go and sin no more.” His divine love for her could never lead Him to condone her lifestyle.

Those are not “huge blocks in society”, those are *sinful lifestyles *contrary to the will of God.

I pray this helps,

To Jesus through Mary 👍

Literally everyone in my immediate family belongs to the Masonic lodge. None of them worship Lucifer or anything like that. The men are Freemasons. The women belong to the Eastern Star. I’m the only Catholic.

Since I converted to Catholicism, not a single person has tried to hunt me down, etc. The lodge knows where I live and work! They would have plotted my down fall by now.

The way some Catholics react to Freemasons is no different than how anti-Catholic protestants react to us. Pot, meet kettle.

On a side note, no, I don’t belong to the lodge. I’m a female and not forbidden from joining the Eastern Star. I just don’t want to for reasons completely unrelated to religion.
Well put and worded. My father, grandfather and great grandfather were all Masons and did not worship anyone except Jesus Christ.
Honorable men all.
They progressed through ALL the degrees so you can’t say that they weren’t well informed. They were just good men that believed in good things.

That does not change anything.

Catholicism and Freemasonry are NOT compatible. A Catholic who is a Freemason is in a state of mortal sin and may not receive Communion. Such a Catholic dying unrepentant will by their own choice go to Hell.

That is why I am so incredibly glad that we have Pope Francis that can see that things need to change.

The Pope has NOT said anything about changes to the Church’s position on Freemasons. That is fantasy. Nothing will change on this.

You are in fantasy land.

The Pope has not said there will be changes to ANY teachings. He made that perfectly clear when the media jumped on comments about homosexuality, abortion, and contraception thinking changes might be in the wind. The Pope directed everyone back to the CCC where he said the teachings remain unchanged. He talked about more love towards people but no changes to the teachings.
Freemasonry is and will remain incompatible with Catholicism.

By the my previous to this post (the shorter one) wasn’t meant to get through. I started it and my computer hung and I thought it was lost.

Oh really?
Interesting
The Masons in Europe tended to be very anti-clerical, that is not nearly so true in the USA.

My crazy (Literally) step dad in Midland Texas used to tell me that the Masons and the Knights of Columbus were mortal enemies, but I always took his stories with big grains of salt since he was schizophrenic.

But the Catholic truth is that one cannot belong to two faiths at once. My step-dad’s father never set foot in a church, masonry was his faith. When he died he had a Masonic and not Christian funeral.

Everything can change with prayer.
Shame on you for saying otherwise.

Just a great thought amidst the hatred and misconceptions.
Note that Pope Francis doesn’t say anything about condemnation and ridicule.

Since Masonry is run from the bottom up, this is the Code that all masons have to operate by without exception. Sorry to break it to you but there are no secret documents other than the ceremonies Masons have. Always remember this; the highest degree in Masonry is the 3rd. (the Scottish Rite has up to 33, the York Rite has 10 more plus honorary bodies, and then there is the Shrine). Yet the Highest Body in Masonry is the Grand Lodge, and the Grand Master only needs to be a Master Mason (and past master of his local lodge). In every Masonic Jurisdiction the Grand Lodge calls the shots… all other bodies exist within that jurisdiction because the Grand Lodge says they can, period.
excellent answer… explains alot for me, thanks

Perhaps you need to read some other postings on this site with the same subject.

I pray to God that you never have to depend on a Masonic charity for your children or yourself. I pray that you open your heart that nothing is above reproach. Most importantly I pray that you open your heart to change and acceptance of those around you. What you personally view as irrevocable doctrine can, and does change. We are seeing that every day with the current Pontiff.

Mostly I just pray for you and for the thousands of devout Roman Catholics that also attend a Masonic lodge that does not CONSPIRE against anything except ignorance and the betterment of mankind. I know these to be true even without being a Freemason.

Perhaps you would be happier as a member of the Greek Orthodox faith.
You can probably find a congregation located around you so you can attend their services.
I do not consider the Holy Father either liberal or conservative, however I do consider him to be open minded and full of mercy. He is both leader of the Holy Catholic Church and a splendid example of what we should all emulate: tolerance and mercy.

If you view my written word as patronizing then you should develop a better sense of the written word. I neither intend nor attempted to be “condescending” to you. That would imply more concern for your opinion than actually exist. Hope that was blunt enough for you.

I continue to pray that the will of God opens your heart, mind, and eyes, to the real evil that is NOT manifested in a Masonic organization. There are far greater evils out there that should employ your time and efforts.

Have you ever read "Morals and Dogma" by Albert Pike? How about the occultism of Manly P. Hall?

Masonry is not compatible with Christianity. It is a Luciferean belief system. I used to think that Freemaonry was great. Many cousins and uncles on both sides of my family
were Freemassons. And I don’t mind telling you one was General in the Army and was the cheif commanding officier over a major army fort. Another was a full Colonel in charge of squadron of B-52 in SAC. The Colonel’s father was my favorite great uncle. Another cousin was/is maybe Master of a lodge that does all there work in Italian and this is a Scottish Rite Lodge for the first three degrees.
Code:
These all are outstanding gentlemen of the highest caliber of morals and integrity.

But that doesn't mean that at the core of Freemasonry is Luciferean dogmatic beliefs.
It also doesn’t mean that alll Freemasons are aware of the full implications of what this fraternity is really about. Nor does it mean that all lodges of Freemasons are bad but historically some have been such as P2 (Propaganda Two or Due) lodge of Italy which almost bankrupted that country.
Code:
There has seems to haven been, in my humble opinion, an infiltration of Freemasons into the the Catholic Church. Christ said "You will know them (the enemies of God) by their works." Look how much disobedience there has been by clergy to the Vatican and even the Holy Father himself.

I am not a Sedevacanist either. I have studied the 16 documents of VC II and they are some of the best theology the Church has produced according to Fr. Fortea. However, during this time of change the enemy seems to have slipped in. Pope St. Pius X wrote:

"Do not allow yourselves to be deceived by the cunning statements of those who persistently claim to wish to be with the Church, to love the Church, to fight so that people do not leave Her...But judge them by their works. If they despise the shepherds of the Church and even the Pope, if they attempt all means of evading their authority in order to elude their directives and judgments..., then about which Church do these men mean to speak? Certainly not about that established on the foundations of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone (Eph. 2:20)." [Pope St. Pius X: Allocution of May 10, 1909]

Napoleon Bonaparte seized control of the Vatican and took the archives therein to France. Many of these important documents were used by butchers in Paris to wrap meat. He tried to destroy the Church from the outside, failed, and a new strategy has been initiated from inside.

But Jesus Christ promised to be with the faithful of the Church He founded in Jerusalem nearly 2000 years ago. So I pray for the Church. Christ prayed and is still praying for all of us.

It should be obvious that Lucifereanism is not compatible with Christianity period.
Here vare some quotes by Freemasons:

“The Masonic religion, for all of us, Initiates the higher levels must be maintained in the purity of the Luciferian doctrine”" (Albert Pike, the Father of Universal Freemasonry).

""God damn, the first duty of man is intelligent and free himself to throw from his spirit and his conscience. (…) God is stupidity and cowardice; God is hypocrisy and falsehood; God is tyranny and misery, God is the bad! Satan Come, come, slandered by the priests and kings! t’abbracci and that I hold thee to my heart. E 'along the time that I know you and you know me “(Proudhon).”

““You lie like a devil, not timidly and only in passing, but boldly and forever.””

““The Christian religion is a religion infamous, a rite abomination, a monster that needs to be stabbed by a hundred invisible hands. We crush, crush the infamous”” (Voltaire).

““Our ultimate aim is that of Voltaire and the French Revolution: that is, the complete annihilation of Catholicism and even of the same Christian idea!””

““We have taken corruption to a great (…), the corruption that must lead to the burial of the Church.”” (Nabius, Cape Action Policy of Universal Freemasonry).

""To you, wild, they go my verses, I cry to you, O Satan, king of the feast! … Hail, Satan, or rebellion, or invincible force of reason! To you go up the votes and the 'sacred incense! “”(The Grand Master A. Lemmi founder of the P2 Lodge).

I am ill and tired today. But TexasTech I will attempt to show what Lucifereanism is.
Also you should pray and study. I would start with what Pope Leo XIII wrote about Freemasonry.

Freemasonry is a wide and diverse organization throughout the world. It’s growth and development in each location has been responsive to the nation in which it exists as well as the makeup of its membership. In addition, there have been many organizations which have appeared over the years ‘imitating’ Masonry and calling themselves ‘Masons’. Among the great majority of Masonic entities which recognize each other (using “Ancient Landmarks” and other commonalties derived from the beginning of the organization 300 years ago), however, there is no one leader. Each Grand Lodge (the highest governing body for each particular group of Masons) is independent and decides matters as it feels is appropriate.

A Grand Master speaks for his Grand Jurisdiction but ONLY when he is serving as Grand Master and ONLY for his specific Jurisdiction.

Thus the statements of the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Masons in California is no more binding upon or reflective of the positions of the United Grand Lodge of Germany than are the rules of the Japanese-American Friendship Association upon the City Council of Kilmarnock, Scotland! Because of the bonds between regular and recognized Masons and Masonic bodies, the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of the Philippines will certainly consider a position on a particular matter taken by the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts but he is not bound in any way to proceed similarly.

In addition, writings or statements by the head of an “appendant” or “related” or “corollary” body (Scottish Rite, York Rite, Shrine or any of several dozen others!) are no more binding on Freemasonry than in the examples cited above. Using the comments by one person speaking for himself or his organization to claim that they ‘represent the thinking of Masonry’ is simply a falsehood. Using the quotes of someone who wrote a book one hundred years ago is just as inappropriate, particularly when one considers that the organization which he headed was not world-wide nor was it even recognized by as many as half the Masons in the world at that time.
