I don’t think a priest would be armed while celebrating Mass.

Perhaps armed security which I would hate to see. I think I read the fwo attackers entered through a back entrance.
I meant the people at Mass. Now I can understand why people want to be able to conceal carry.

I would hate for armed security to have to be brought in…but with the world the way it is, they may have to be…

No mention of Rouen being the site of St. Joan of Arc’s burning at the stake. May Our Lady of Victories; St. Michael the Archangel; and St Joan of Arc help bring Daesh to justice.

Blessings,
Cloisters
I was wondering why this particular Catholic church and others were put on a hit list - just because they are Catholic?

what are you TALKING ABOUT? This is not like the man beaten on the road to Jericho.
Code:
If this could happen in FRANCE, it could happen in the USA. We are not in a Utopia.
You have people who are downtrodden and those who don’t want to help because it could be trouble–for all the priest and the Levite knew, maybe the man was a criminal himself if he ended up beaten half to death on a lonely road.

I’ll ask you–who is your neighbor? Other people of European decent?

This is horrible attack. Yet it’s sad–not equally sad–to see people falling back on xenophobia and, yes, racism in response to this. Not surprised, but sad.
I don’t see any xenophobia or racism. I don’t see that at all. Now people might rightfully be concerned with Islamic migration. That isn’t out of some unjustified fear or hatred of their race. It is because of Islam. It is because of what Islam actually is and what adherents actually do.

The fairytale land where ideologies don’t matter won’t last much longer if this keeps up. The fairytale was only possible because we still had a Christian culture in the West and people wrongly assumed that the way we are is the way the whole world is. That just isn’t true. And if it was it would make our theology and philosophy inconsequential.

sigh I am not against refugees, I am against those who PRETEND to be refugees in order to gain access to countries that don’t have proper security for their citizens. France has gun control, so they were a perfect target for carnage that has happened.

This was obviously not done by a downtrodden father who left Syria or Iraq for a better life.

Honestly I’d rather trained armed security or police be present than parishioners armed, at least in theory as I don’t trust parishioners ability to aim properly.

Amen.

In Jesus’ parable, how many heads had the beaten man cut off? And what instructions did Jesus give for how we are to treat the thieves who beat the man?

Yes, that is true. The mass murder at the nightclub in Orlando, Florida is one example. On the other hand, France is much closer to traditionally Muslim countries and has a history of colonial activity in those countries. As a result, France has a far higher percentage of Muslim immigrants and, perhaps more importantly, the offspring of Muslim immigrants. The danger posed by homegrown terrorists seems to be greater than that from immigrants or refugees.

The distinction between homegrown terrorism and imported terrorism is important. It speaks to the failure of a country to assimilate its own citizens.

ISIS does not have a winning strategy, they WANT to bring on Armageddon, they have a twisted idea Jesus will save them! The look on their faces when it doesn’t work out should be priceless!

Seriously, praying hard their warped worldview comes to an abrupt and permenant end very soon.

*Prof. Bruno Drweski from the National Institute of Languages and Eastern Civilizations says the objective of terrorist groups is to make people feel endangered all over France.

“In a certain sense to organize such [an attack] in a little village is much more efficient than to do it all the time in big cities. And that is the main problem to deal with,” he told RT.

“I think they have different scenarios and methods and they use different methods at different times so the police will never be sure what will happen next. That’s part of their psychological warfare. It can be aimed to create a gap between Christians and Muslims - especially between the French Catholic Church and Muslim organizations,” he added.

Dr. Simon Mabon, lecturer in international relations at Lancaster University in the UK said the site of the attack – a church – is “hugely symbolic”.

“If indeed it is ISIS affiliates or sympathizers, this is clearly a symbolic point that says: ‘No matter where you are in France, you are not safe. And we will strike to try and cultivate this war between Islam and the West. When the West having these Christian values, even in France obviously with its secularism, the church is symbolic and as the antithesis to Islam,’” he said.*

Well it’s not necessarily Jesus they think will save them. But they do think they’re going to be battling the “Armies of Rome” on the plains of Dabiq and that Jesus will be leading those armies as the second most revered person in Islam. And that it will be the end of “Rome” and will usher in the apocalypse. Which may be why they focus on Catholic Churches with those “hit lists” and such. While the Catholic Church no longer has armies directly under it’s control it does still represent Rome in the manner Daesh refers to complete with broken cross imagery and the like. And can be seen to have armies at its indirect command in those in the west like the US and EU, the latter of which the Vatican is an associate member of.

So it’s even further sacrilege! This is not even an offense against men, it’s one against God (though murder also is, but this is more direct).

And democrats will say that they are “social justice warriors” and “innocent refugees” and that the “bad Christians” were doing something incorrectly.
Do you mean that ISIS are ‘social justice warriors’? Which Democrats have said that?
