Secular Society also shores up and celebrates the freedom of the unchaste sin of fornication, you are correct.

Take it 1 step further, add the perversion of sodomy, and attempt to call it what God has made Holy (Matrimony)-and Satan wins yet again-on another front.

You betcha.

Yes, and none of this would be taking place on a legal level of Christians were truly “Christian.”

At the very least we are experiencing a Minor Apostasy, and if it continues it can easily be the Great Apostasy. I am willing to guess that no more than 10-percent of all Christians actually TRY to follow the faith. That is the real reason why the west is in such a mess.

The founding fathers did not.

There are other countries that you may seek where what you hope for is done. Unfortunately, they tend to be Muslim and fanatical. However, there you would find the type of government and law that you are seeking.
Shockingly, I agree. We do not want a theocracy in the USA.

Would you be for outlawing (fines or punishments) the worshiping of other Gods or idols or the making of graven images?

Would you be for outlawing (fines or punishments) covetousness?

One needs only to read the Founding Documents of our Country to realize I am correct.

They even spoke and thanked God-giving Honor to Him.

Yes, yes they did. Amen (I believe).

These Documents, I believe, were Divinely Inspired. After all, they have held up for these many years.

Today, they are attempting to twist and pervert these Documents, great Declarations from Great early men of our Country (Separation of Church and State comes to mind immediately)—and our Laws based upon Judeo Christian values and Laws.

God Bless.

The brilliance of the American system is that it allows for religious freedoms. That is the very thing that is being attacked today and most Catholics/Christians do not like what they see happening before their eyes. The left is pushing for a state religion that can be called social secular atheism…they believe in that religion every bit as much as faithful Catholics believe in the Real Presence, and the left is trying to shove their religion down the collective throats of every USA citizen. I want us to return to sanity and honor the fact that everyone has religious freedoms and that faith is NOT just for Church.

Though I am a homosexual myself, I will be making an unofficial vow of celibacy next week to my Spiritual Director. Much exists in my past and in my mind that needs to be confessed once I am baptised, but the grace of the Blessed Lord has almost completely divested me of my wish to act out my lusts. I have a feeling that they will always exist in me, but only as long as I have a sinful, Earthly body. My homosexual attractions and lusts will disappear when my body is glorified, if God counts me worthy at The End: just as a man’s muscular dystrophy or a woman’s osteoporosis will disappear when glorification comes. We all have a Cross to bear, of course, and I think God knows each of us better than we know ourselves, so He has the answer in the end.

Gay marriage, as I see it, utterly undermines the basis of Christian civilisation. If Christ wed humanity to divinity for all time on the Cross, it simply must be in terms of the natural order (He is the groom and we the submissive wife). Why would Christ attach His perfection to our mortality if He considers us to be “the man” as well as Himself? Christ’s wedding to us is based on our humility, not on our manliness. Mary was the perfect servant because she was humble and submitted to God: a wife for all times! This is why gay marriage is wrong: it simply makes no sense. God created men to dominate and protect women, and He blessed women to be kept safe and loved by men. This is the Order, the Glorious Order of symmetry and balance.

I find it amusing that atheists will support gay marriage because the Church “corrupted” marriage and took it over unjustly, but the same atheists will never consider abolishing Trial by Jury or Just Government, things which exist because of our Lord Jesus Christ. They are hypocritical in dismantling this Western civilisation they so love, because all of it was built in the name of Christ’s teachings. The Bible is the constitution of the West, in history and tradition and point of fact.

I tend to think homosexuals are created to become priests, rather like the Levite tribe always gave its men to the service of the Temple. 😉 God wants us to be celibate, and to use our quiet celibacy to glorify Him, not our own lusts.

Once again, I would have to ask-why are you here?

Are you here to learn about the Catholic Faith?
Are you attempting to corrupt Catholics and lead them away from their Church?
Are you a Troll here to antagonize?

Sodomy is a grave sin-one that if not repented, will send your soul to Hell.
Those who promote this, instead of attempting to help people remain Chaste for their Station in life, are promoting Hell.

I applaud you for your strong faith. I pray you can live a chaste life. I do disagree regarding your last paragraph (I do not think God creates anyone gay or straight), yet I honor everything else you said. 🙂

We are all called to be Chaste for our Station in life, friend in Christ. Welcome to the Church. We all have our Cross to bear.

I am married, but I have been asked out, flirted with, etc. while I am married. Sure, I may have been tempted-I have. But I do not want to hurt my husband, whom I have taken a Sacred Vow to remain Chaste (only to him)-I love only him. I would wound My Lord-in breaking the Covenant with God my Marriage means (there are 3 in a marriage). And, I would risk losing my soul to Eternal Damnation forever.

We are all called to be chaste for our station in life. It is not easy, with Sex everywhere you look, that is true. And, the constant banging of the drum—of the Secular (Godless) Society ours is becoming.

Pray.

God Bless.

Does divine inspiration include the 3/5 compromise in the Constitution?

I applaud you for your strong faith. I pray you can live a chaste life. I do disagree regarding your last paragraph (I do not think God creates anyone gay or straight), yet I honor everything else you said. 🙂
Thank you for your prayers, my friend! Your disagreement is laudable, because I am still not sure myself what God does or does not do in my life. He does provide for our free will (thanks be to Him for that), but He is also the originator of all time, space, and reality. If every last pebble must exist because of God, then Homosexuality must exist because of God. I don’t think He made us this way to enjoy ourselves, though, just as He didn’t make straight men to have pre-marital sex all they want.

I stand by the idea that marriage must preclude sex, and thus I will not have gay sex because I do not believe gays should be married. It is simply logical, and not at all meant to blaspheme the Most High God! This is about responsibility and manly recognition of God’s perfect laws for the Universe. The Honour is His forever, and gay pride parades can go rot. 😛
…Pray.

Thank you very much for your kindness and good words, friend! Your staunch defense of the Love of God is beyond reproach.

I am not 100% familiar with American history, but I believe the “three-fifths of a person” argument was mostly used by Northern States so the Southern slave-states wouldn’t be able to swing elections by counting their thousands of slaves as votes. It was meant entirely to forward the cause of their liberty, not to reduce blacks. Slavery was evil, but it was rectified - a little too slowly for my taste, but it happened.

I am here to learn.

You stated uncategorically that you were for laws that follow Church teaching. I am curious to know just how far you mean that.

I see that you have NOT answered my question, except to suggest that I don’t belong here (despite what the forum rules state about whom is welcome).

Could you answer my questions? If you don’t, then I will assume that you are merely stating, actually, that you are simply for some Church morals being followed by law. And of course, we ALL are for following some Church morality in our laws. It just comes down to a debate, then, of which laws and why. After all, we do have a Constitution that guides our system of law and governance.

One needs only to read the Founding Documents of our Country to realize I am correct.
You are “correct” about what? You are not even sticking to the point any longer, that I can see.

The founders, by the way, were overwhelmingly Protestant or Deist. I think that there was only one clear Catholic member at the convention, but I would have to double check…

Friend, I do not presume to speak for your adversary, but may I offer my own thoughts? 🙂

Jesus Christ was once asked if His New Covenant would make the Old pass away. He replied that not one jot, iota, or tittle of the Law shall pass “until all is consummated”. All things must have been brought to their end-point: their perfection. What were our Lord’s last words before giving up His life for us all? Why, they were “Es ist vollbracht”, if you follow Bach… 😉 Everything has been consummated. The Old Laws were meant to be kept in place only so Israel could thrive and produce David, whose line could eventually produce Jesus Christ.

Once the line followed down through the ages to its ultimate conclusion, Christ came and consummated all the Old Law to Himself, initiating the New Law of forgiveness. We need not outlaw Covetousness and False Idols: we are called to debate with those who covet, and to converse with pagans so that we may convert them without need of such laws. God never suggested a theocracy, for that will come when He comes. 👍

The clear Catholic was the delegate from Maryland, which had long since been overrun by Protestants (1690) anyway. 😛

Than for the first time (that I can recall) we disagree. The founders did not want one Church’s view to hold sway over the entire nation and they were quite wise to feel that way. I think there is a difference between Catholic teachings and law, versus natural law, which should be held in high regard by everyone. It is natural law that I feel should never be broken by civil law.

Remember too that the only reason our freedoms will be taken is because Christians of all denoms refuse to be actually Christian. For example: there is absolutely NO excuse for legal abortions in a nation that claims to be 85% Christian…zero excuse for such a horrendous law. There are many others and they all came into existence because this has become basically a pagan nation, rather than a Christian nation.

Things like life and marriage fall under natural law, as well as Catholic teachings.
Judeo Christian Law is not a Faith.

Where in the world do you think “Natural Law” originates?

Click Here:Catholic Definition of Natural Law

…The exposition of St. Thomas is at once the most simple and philosophic. Starting from the premise that good is what primarily falls under the apprehension of the practical reason—that is of reason acting as the dictator of conduct—and that, consequently, the supreme principle of moral action must have the good as its central idea, he holds that the supreme principle, from which all the other principles and precepts are derived, is that good is to be done, and evil avoided (I-II, Q, xciv, a. 2)…

Natural Law-we conduct ourselves morally-through good, and avoid evil.

Faith and Morals are dictated in the Catholic Church.
Sin is defined.
As Serious, Practicing Catholics, we must be obedient.

God Bless.

**==> Again, I honor and pray for you and your strong faithful choices. Awesome, truly.

==> With that said, I must strongly disagree that homosexuality exists because of God. I feel that homosexuality is a disorder, and God does not create disorder, we do. It is our fallen nature that has lead to all sin, all disease, all disorders, all pain and even death itself. Creation also is subject to the same fallen nature, which is why the earth is never completely safe and stable as it was in the Garden of Eden. Babies who are born with a disease were not created so by God, it is a consequence of the fallen nature which marks and scars every human. God actually wants eternal happiness and joy for everyone, yet He values our freedoms so much that He allowed us to fall in the Garden and He continues to allow it now and until the Lord returns. It is our free will, combined with our fallen nature that creates such profound hardships for most people. **

Thank you very much for your kindness and good words, friend! Your staunch defense of the Love of God is beyond reproach.

==> No! Truly, your strong faith is beyond my measure of faith, and I mean that with all my heart. You have taken a stand against your own nature in order to serve God, I wish we had millions more (gay or straight) just like you, people who are willing to follow God. 🙂

No, it did not reduce blacks to slavery. But it certainly did nothing to further the cause of abolition. Unfortunately, we have the further codification of slavery here:

No person held to service or labour in one state, under the laws thereof, escaping into another, shall in consequence of any law or regulation therein, be discharged from such service or labour, but shall be delivered up on claim of the party to whom such service or labour may be due.

Both of these were codes regarding slavery that enabled it to continue to exist and were written into the Constitution. Now, to me the intentional delay of liberty and justice to the slave population for the sake of “compromise” is absolutely wrong. So, my question was to the poster, were these sections of the Constitution also divinely inspired?

May God bless you, and your struggles. I too will pray for you.

As my Sicillian grandmother used to always say, “God provides the cross, and the strength to bear it.”. You are example of faith to all of us sinners.

God bless you on your journey! I do not doubt that for whatever reason, there is a physiological difference between us through no fault of your own, and having gays as neighbors and even friends, I acknowledge this. But you have spoken of the one thing that is the **essence **of this debate. God’s natural law will not be mocked and the only thing we all have to do, whether hetero or gay is to be chaste.
