Women can’t work physical jobs, hour after hour, needing physical strength? You have got to be kidding. Good thing I don’t share this stuff with my wife.

But your earlier claim was that “Women can’t keep secrets.” And “Men don’t share feelings.” Now you have shifted to muscle mass, etc, and some bland generalizations there.

Can you get it back to gay marriage and the end of civilization? Does a strong, muscular woman mean the end of civilization, or something? A weak, smaller man?
ok Larkin, what would be your argument against gay marriage? weigh in, would you?

Your words, not mine. I worked in a factory in high school. Told them I was 16 when I was 14-so at 14, I was putting aluminum parts on a belt that were then anodized-including knitting needles, crochet hooks, and the detonators for certain bombs.

Rosie the Riveter stayed home and did the factory work, when everyone pulled together for the War Effort (WWII). (Think that would happen today?)

You might be too young, but there used to be a show on TV called “Northern Exposure.” There was a woman pilot on the show (Janine Turner who played "Maggie O’Connell). One episode, another woman pilot came into town. Maggie was all excited, and asked her something about women becoming Combat Pilots. The other pilot said something like: Are you kidding? Women are either getting their period, on it, or getting over it.

Our whole life from about 13-50ish is like that. It’s like it revolves around our menses.

You said you’re married. If you don’t recognize it in your wife-have daughters.

Men and women cannot be the same.

Lol! Well, I always been a strong woman. I used to be 6’ tall, and could easily slam-dunk the overheads on a 747 (you probably don’t know what that means-but it was a big aircraft, with tall overheads)-not like the smaller flight attendants.

Well, once again, 2 men or 2 women does not a family make. 2 men nor 2 women can raise children as God intended.

God made marriage, a Covenant with Him-between a man and a woman and Himself. Even the Protestant Denominations recognize this (like you used to be). Marriage is one of the 2 Sacraments for Protestants, whereas Catholics have 7 Sacraments.

Now you know.

God Bless.

Then you will recognize female physical strength, right?

I’m 50. And this is not true of women. Menses occurs, but many many women do not revolve their lives around it.
You said you’re married. If you don’t recognize it in your wife-have daughters.
I have been a high school teacher and coach for 25 years. I can flat out tell you that your generalizations here are superficial and virtually meaningless.
Men and women cannot be the same.
No one said they could. You are arguing in generalities against what NO ONE HAS CLAIMED.
Well, once again, 2 men or 2 women does not a family make. 2 men nor 2 women can raise children as God intended.
This is not relevant in American courts.

So? This is not relevant in American law.

Then you will recognize female physical strength, right?..
Coach Larkin: Have you ever in your career-wondered why men and women don’t compete together?

Do you ever watch Football? Ever wonder why women haven’t fought for the right to play in the NFL? Now, there has been the girl here and there who played football in Jr. High or High School. But not college-or beyond.

I understand, but do you know why?

Why, in the Olympics do men compete against men and women against women?

No women Basketball Players in the Pros?

How about Baseball Players?

Why in the world do they have their own Leagues?

What about Clean and Jerk Weight Lifters?

Click Here: Wiki Clean and Jerk

World records

As of the Athens 2004 Summer Olympics, the official world record for the Men’s Clean and Jerk is 263.0 kilograms (580 lb). This record was set by Hossein Reza Zadeh of Iran.[2]

The former world record in the Clean and Jerk was 266.0 kilograms (586 lb) by Leonid Taranenko of the Soviet Union. However this weight is not considered a world record by the International Weightlifting Federation, since all the old records were annulled after a restructuring of weight classes.[2][3]

The world record for the Women’s Clean and Jerk is 187.0 kilograms (412 lb) as of 2009 World Weightlifting Championships. This record was set by Jang Miran of South Korea.[4]

Gee, looky there-the women cannot lift nearly what a man can.

Surprised? Do not buy the lie spread the the NOW girls (Women’s Lib)—women are not men. (and vice versa) We ARE different, and cannot be the other.

Cannot.

God Bless.

I don’t think that accusing the judge of bias in the Prop 8 case is useful. It may be useful when trying to convince the already convinced, but the problem is that real issue of the case is clouded. What was being determined in this case? The case was not whether or not gay people are sinners or if they can marry in a sacramental sense. these questions are outside of the secular laws of our nation. The question being determined was thus: is marriage a civil right, and if so, what overpowering reason does the State have for denying that civil right to a group of citizens?

The problem with simply blaming the judge’s possible bias is that it completely ignores the fact that the lawyers defending Prop 8 did a horrible job of defending it. They only called 2 witnesses (vs the Plaintiffs’ 15), and despite being coxed over and over by the “biased” judge to recess and provide more legal evidence for their position, they were unable to do so. The judge cannot be blamed for the fact that #1) the laws of our nation are secular ones, and #2) we live in a Constitutional Republic, NOT a democracy. In a Constitutional Republic, the law of the land protects the civil rights of minorities from the will of the majority… and that’s what happened in this case.

You are wrong-here. The Bible is explicit—>The first person you have sex with-is your Spouse in the Eyes of God.
Show me where THIS is a dogma of the Catholic Church… I have NEVER heard the Church teach this.

Once again, according the the rules of the Forum:

Why are you here?

Are you here to learn about the Catholic Faith?

Or to lead Catholics away from their Faith?

To waste our time?

You never answered before-I will ask once again.

A Troll? All you do is antagonize. Troublemaker.

Show me where THIS is a dogma of the Catholic Church… I have NEVER heard the Church teach this.
Genesis 2:24
Matthew 19:5
Ephesians 5:31
And read about Jacob and Rachel and Leah in Genesis.

Pull out your Bible and read it.

RCconvert, here, if you prefer the CCC:

THE MARRIAGE BOND

scborromeo.org/ccc/para/1639.htm
1639 The consent by which the spouses mutually give and receive one another is sealed by God himself. From their covenant arises “an institution, confirmed by the divine law, . . . even in the eyes of society.” The covenant between the spouses is integrated into God’s covenant with man: “Authentic married love is caught up into divine love.”

scborromeo.org/ccc/para/1640.htm
1640 Thus the marriage bond has been established by God himself in such a way that a marriage concluded and consummated between baptized persons can never be dissolved. This bond, which results from the free human act of the spouses and their consummation of the marriage, is a reality, henceforth irrevocable, and gives rise to a covenant guaranteed by God’s fidelity. The Church does not have the power to contravene this disposition of divine wisdom.

I am so glad you brought this up!!! Thank You!

The Marriage Bond cannot be consummated by Homosexuals-meaning 2 men or 2 women!

God is Good, all the Time!
All the Time, God is Good!

I think it was already dead for the most part when the genocide of abortion started in the 70s. America has embraced a culture of death and Gay Marriage is only a side effect of that .
Satan is the Prince of Lies.

He is breaking down the family, which in turn, breaks down Society.

God Help us. More and more are led astray.

The world is sick, and needs the Divine Physician.

As we wait in Joyful Hope.

I guess then, you have nothing to learn about the Church?

I do. I do not think I will ever know all truths, until I leave this world.

I agree with this statement about Covenant… however, Marriage is NOT one of the 2 sacraments for the Protestant church. I was raised Lutheran. We had 2 sacraments: Baptism, Holy Communion (Luther being a stickler on the “instituted by Christ” qualification for a sacrament). Having had our marriage convalidated when we converted to the Catholic Church, I can personally attest to the Truth of Sacramental Marriage. However much the Protestant church values marriage, it does not consider it sacramental (hence it’s “ok-ness” with divorce.)

I agree with you about Truth… However… My question remains. Where does the Roman Catholic Church teach that the first person you have sex with is your husband/wife?

Trying to make fun of me doesn’t answer my question.

I mean, clearly, there is a connection made with anyone you are sexually intimate with. My wife is the 2nd person I had sex with. The Church recognizes or marriage as Sacramental, I have never been asked to abstain from the Eucharist even though my priest knows that my wife was not the only person I ever had sex with, and I this was never addressed in any of my Catholic Theology courses, or even brought up… I may not have all the answers, but I do have a growing theological eduction. I am not completely green around the gills.

24
6 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one body.
usccb.org/nab/bible/genesis/genesis2.htm
Matthew 19:5
“and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?”
usccb.org/nab/bible/matthew/matthew19.htm
Ephesians 5:31
" “For this reason a man shall leave (his) father and (his) mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”
usccb.org/nab/bible/ephesians/ephesians5.htm

Dawn, neither the Bible verses you cited, nor the Catechism supports the idea that the first person someone has sex with is their spouse. And that is the objection raised by RCconvert7. Are you really continuing in that idea? None of the evidence you offered supports the idea that your claim is actually Catholic teaching.

Oh really? I always thought Baptism and Marriage. I stand corrected!

OT: I guess then Luther was a stickler on the “Instituted by Christ” part, but not the “This is My Body” “This Is My Blood” “Do this in memory of Me” part.

Okay, well, I learn something new every day, although I prefer to focus more on the Catholic Faith. I apologize!

My husband, a United Methodist has 2 Sacraments in his church: Baptism and Marriage—so he told me, but looking that up, they are the same as the Lutherans (like you wrote):
united-methodist-churches.suite101.com/article.cfm/the-sacraments-in-the-united-methodist-church

I need to tell him.

I don’t have time to read all this… Please quote for me where it says that having sex with someone makes you married to them.

I respect the teachers here, but an article on Catholic Answers is not an appropriate answer to my question. Show me something from the CCC or a papal document. If you’re going to imply that I don’t know what I’m talking about, please enlighten me with indisputable Catholic Teaching, not articles on a website. If said article quotes or references an indisputable document of Church Teaching, then I’ll agree with it. Sending me to a huge article on Gay marriage when I asked a question about heterosexual relationships outside of marriage isn’t helping.
