Gay Marriage and the End of Christian Civilization

It is the end of Satan’s Era, not the world.
There’s the period coming where weapons will be hammered into plowshares and pruning hooks. The period of Pope Leo XIII’s ecstacy-with Satan being chained for a thousand years before being let out-shortly before the end of the world…
ok

so gay marriage does not mean the “end of Christian civilization” (the thread topic)?

No, gay marriage simply means that Christianity is nearly dead in this country. It will never die out completely, but gay marriage is simply a sign of how weak the Christian faith is in the USA. If people were truly strong in their faith, gay marriage would not even be a remote possibility.

…Of course it would be easier to have everyone follow a single belief. …
Do you mean religion? Have you ever tried arguing with a “cafeteria” Catholic?
If you think that your ability to practice Chrisitanity dissolves when Christian Gays choose to marry, then you are probably not only a not very good American, but a poor excuse for a Christian.
“Christian Gays” (practicing gays) is a contradiction. You cannot be practicing sodomy and call it a good. Sodomy is evil.

Also looks like you are playing Judge when you say “poor excuse for a Christian.”

If anything I have said is against the Catholic Church, let it be anathema.

When you look at the fact that this country already has legalized abortion, and add to it a legalized instution allowing sodomy, it shows that a Christian society is holding on by “a thread” at best (in my opinion).

If anything I have said is against the Catholic Church, let it be anathema.

their agenda is evil too. they are intimidating all of us into to believe that we are not charitable when point out that this is intrinsic evil. they want us to shut up about it so they can continue to advance their agenda. i wish that bishop had not come out against fr. rodriguez, that was a big mistake. obviously this bishop doesnt know who he is dealing with. our fight is not against flesh and blood but agaisnt principalities in high places. i hope this bishop realizes this. when we condemn sin, we are fighting against evil who is coming against God and His laws. St Paul had no problem when it came to correct people. he even said: “dont make me get my belt and go overthere…”

As a lurker, I have followed this conversation through what are now 24 pages of posts. I have been fortunate to read many thought-provoking posts by Dawn in Texas and others who want to have a meaningful discussion on the topic of gay marriage and its effect on society. I am so proud that people are speaking up – loudly and clearly against the evils of gay marriage.

Thank you Dawn for your comments – I always enjoy reading them and have learned so much! You speak from the heart with compassion and love (and always in faithfulness to the Catechism). Pay no mind to antagonistic posters like Larkin31 who try to hijack the conversation to avoid the truth and mislead others. His posts are filled with sarcasm and venom and have added nothing of value to the discussion.

My eyes have been opened to how far reaching the gay agenda is – it is indeed a scary time in which we live!

God Bless

Paul also said, “But the greatest of these is love.”

I deny and reject these personal accusations. Please return to the topic.

You have consistently avoiding tough questions, it seems those accusations might very well be exactly right.

For instance, I posed this challenge several times and you never did respond: if marriage can be redefined to include gays, than what legal or moral argument is there to prevent any other arrangements from joining hands in marriage?

The challenge is relevant to the topic of the end of Christian civilization because if redefining marriage to include gays also means we can include all other sorts of arrangements, than this is certainly a huge blow to Christianity in the USA.

So, for once, answer the challenge.

Paul also said, “But the greatest of these is love.”
so, which is it? love or Truth? you seem to insist on that love and Truth is in contradiction. which is it? does St Paul say that Love is above Truth?

is St Paul saying that to love others is refrain from telling others that they are sinning against God?
do you think that when St Paul said that he would get his belt and …he was not loving the people? did St Paul had to make a choice here? he had to stop love the people because he wanted them to stop sinning?

do have children? do you tell them the Truth or you just love them? which is it?

As in nearly all cases, I think that the best approach is a strong mixture of love and truth. All I have been doing here is to highlight the initial point of charity, love, and self-analysis that the Bishops’ Council recommended. I am not trying to deny anything else, but rather just see what Catholics have to say about the Bishops’ acknowledgement that injustice and ill will are done to gays, and we all must be sure not to contribute to them.

Did you read the letter?

The bishop’s letter is off topic.

yes, i did. but you are separating the Truth from love, arent you?

loving them is to tell them that homosexualism is a sin against God. that is love for them.
they go together and not separated. you are trying to use these words alone, meaning dont tell the Truth just love them. that is not what the letter says.

you are trying to twist the meaning of this letter is if the words in the letter is just that and nothing else. the CC says that charity without Truth is not charity at all. get it? the letter is not telling us to accept their lifestyle. that is exactly how you are trying to enterpret the letter. it is not saying that.

nobody here is screaming or beating up the homosexuals. we ought to tell them the Truth and we are not going to accept their life style. capici? this is love and charity at work.
so, stop trying to tell us what the CC teach, we know what the Church teaches.

do you have children? do you tell them the truth or you just love them and accept whatever they want to do?

Have you noticed that answers to the tought questions never come?

One needs only to read the Founding Documents of our ountry to realize I am correct. They even spoke and thanked God-giving Honor to Him.
Yes, yes they did.
Like John Adams (US President, 1797-1801)?

‘God is an essence we know nothing of. Until this awful blasphemy is got rid of, there will never be any liberal science in the world.’

I never claimed otherwise.

I am not. I have NEVER stated such a thing of this letter, nor of the CC.

All I did was actually read the document and quote it for comment. Why are you so defensive about it?
do you have children? do you tell them the truth or you just love them and accept whatever they want to do?
Stay on the topic, please. We have been requested to do so by a moderator.

I told you already that I recommend a mixture of love and truth.

larkin is just trying to impose his twisted ideas. we know what the Church teaches, he doesnt.
it is two diferent beliefs. Church teaches what God reviwed to her and larkin teaches what the world tought him. we dont follow the world, we follow God. it is that simple. no buts or ifs.

It is amazing when a person tells “us” to stick to the topic, yet refuses to do so.

asking me whether I have children or not and what I teach them is not a “tough” question. It is simply personal and irrelevant here, and we have been asked not to do this. I have already been suspended once. I am trying to adhere to the rules now. I ask you to do the same.
