You are a very compassionate person, and probably a really good friend, but I respectfully and strongly disagree with this only because we are not animals, we are expected to rise above our disordered desires.
We are so much more than our desires, than our nature and how we are wired. God gave each of us strengths, unfortunately each of us struggles with many weaknesses, sometimes the same ones over and over again. Some of us struggle with lust, some with desire to drink alcohol to extreme, some with sexual attraction to children, some with harsh tempers, some with same-sex attraction. Yet, Jesus never said to anyone who sinned “this is your nature it’s okay” He said “sin no more”
I am probably not going to convince you that gay marriage is sinful and that is fine, it is still a useful discussion anyway. You see, when you wrote what you wrote, it sounds the same (to me) as someone with a horrible abusive temper simply saying “Oh well, that’s just how I am wired.” God calls us to live according to the commandments no matter how we are wired. If I am sexually attracted to children I have to curb those desires no matter what, if I am sexually attracted to my brother or sister than I have to curb those desires no matter what, because sex with a child or sex with a sibling is disordered and homosexual sex is the same. God bless your day and thank you for an interesting conversation.
