I find the idea that gay people somehow “convert” children to be backward, sickening, and downright insane. This law does nothing to protect children.I find the laws supporting the promotion of an illness among the young in the Western countries much more backward, sickening and downright insane than I find a law protecting children from the same in Russia.
But you know what? It’ll have the effect of lowering the gay population that you want. Why? Because young gay teens who don’t know what same-sex attractions are, and especially young gay teens whose parents directly contradict the Church by frequently talking about how horrible gay people are, will all start committing suicide at even higher rates. And then the gays that survive their childhood will all leave the religion, because they’ll associate it with your backwards thinking and never truly understand the religion for the grace, love, and call to chastity it truly is. And then when the gay community becomes more anti-religion as a result, you’ll use that example to try to further your case that gays are horrible people, and the cycle will continue.
Meanwhile, I will continue to fight for every single one of these kids. Yes, it is a sin to act on your inclinations, but it sure as hell isn’t one to have them. All of you people who support a law that would criminalize the “It Gets Better” project are downright crazy, and I hope that none of your kids are gay, because I would hate to see us lose another child to secularism (or worse, suicide) as a direct result of your insane brand of politics.
How can you people talk about an entire group of people as if they have no dignity whatsoever? It makes me downright ashamed of my religious community that there are so many hateful people in it. I thought I left that the way of the Protestant community I grew up in. You can be self-righteous if you want, but you are all sinners in some way or another. Throwing one group of sinners into jail because the law doesn’t affect you is the most selfish, un-Catholic, dirtbaggy thing to do. And it is CERTAINLY not Catholic to point to an immoral thing that another group is doing (e.g. gay storybooks in class without notification) to somehow justify pushing an even MORE immoral thing (condemning people for their sins, as if you have the right to do that).
I used to fight hard against the prejudice in the LGBT community that Catholics “hated” them, because the Church certainly does not, and I never could understand why they felt that way. But seeing all the responses on this board makes me sick and fully understanding of why they feel that way. You guys are leading gays into sin through your vitriol, and I will not stand for it. You should all know better; assuming you are all adults. I can’t believe you.
Still, God bless all of you. I hope that your hearts don’t stay hardened for your whole life. We need apostles to bring sinners back to the Church, not more megaphones to condemn them to hell.
