Actually it isn’t myself that demonizes gay children, it is yours. The “choose to be this way” attitude is exactly that. And let me tell ya, at the age of 3 there was plenty of ‘hints’ of where his sexuality lies. His tastes, interests, what he gravitated to, etc…
It’s really not hard to understand or see once you live it. But that doesn’t fit the religious conservative view.
And for the record, there were plenty of sports options, hunting with his dad later [can’t be more masculine than walking around with a gun, right?], and so forth. And the best part is, we have an open minded family. So no one labeled him anything and let him choose who he was going to be and what he wanted to do. Eventually he left sports for arts and music.
Arts and music are not feminine, and they certainly aren’t an indicator of homosexuality.

You’re a pervert.

Anyone who makes or defends the claim that 3-year-olds have a sexual orientation or preference of any kind is profoundly perverted in mind and spirit and is a victim of Satan’s culture of death.
lol that is funny. where do I sign up for this culture of death and meet satan himself? I would love to have his autograph. Maybe a pedophile priest could introduce me. Now there is true even. Preying on innocent children.

And religious conservatives continue to wonder why they are labeled homophobes, hateful, bigots and so forth…

Never said they were. Strong words, trapped in a closet?
You certainly implied they were. “We knew he was gay at age 3 because he didn’t like sports but rather arts and music.”

Ad hominem ftw

Not what I said. But you can believe what you want. Stay in the closet.

If it was say 1945 in America, and two men or two women decided they were going to kiss and fondle each other in public, they would have been quickly arrested by police and no doubt charged with some form of lewd conduct. I seriously doubt that afterwards that we’d be hearing from some politicians how while we’re fighting Nazism in Europe it appears we’re embracing it at home, and I got a rather strong feeling that Catholics, whether clergy or laity wouldn’t be arguing that the arrests were a violation of Catholic Social teaching.
Also in 1945 in America, institutional racial discrimination against blacks was widespread, and few Americans said “we’re fighting Nazi racialist ideology in Europe but defending our own here at home.” However, the fact that no one said it does not mean it wasn’t true. The point being, the ‘tempora et mores’ of 1945 are not necessarily superior to those of the present day.

True. But there are those who say (and with some reason) that blacks in northern cities were better off in 1945 than they are today in those same cities. In the South, they are undoubtedly better off now than they were then.

The same kind of sexual revolution that has led to the idea of SSM did not do so without first destroying the black family in America.
Catholic social teaching, which first and foremost identifies with the poor and the oppressed, which stand in solidarity with the cross, opposes the normalization of SSM and those aspects of the gay agenda precisely BECAUSE that agenda has wreaked untold havoc against the poor and the oppressed.

It has been a long hard road that America has been on in her quest for liberty for all, and building one people out of the many. Waging a cultural war against the forces of social change that are destroying the American family, and especially the family of the poor is but yet another step along that long, hard road.

The Putin regime is a criminal state, run by men with Mafia goals. They are brutal and have no respect for the individual, even now. Without the family though, there can be no such thing as individual rights, and even criminals in a criminal regime have more wisdom than the road that the left has been taking us on in their war against gender and the family.

And I doubt that being allowed to use the same bathrooms as white people contributed to the urban decay that afflicts urban black communities today. The point being, it is not really safe to assume that past customs were necessarily more moral or humane or in line with Catholic teaching.

The Mafia analogy is interesting, since I’ve read of mafiosi (exceptional ones, not the norm, of course) who despite the fact that they would willingly murder strangers for unknown reasons because they were told do, forbade swearing in their household, strictly adhered to family values, even went to church on Sundays. And while such values may be stellar examples of family values compared with a crazed hipster who raises his children with the help of a sequential series of girlfriends in his VW bus parked near the commune, I think I’d prefer the company of the hipster to that of the family conscious mafioso, if only for fear of my life and safety.

Never did I say that being able to use the same bathrooms as whites contributed to northern urban decay. I only said there are those who argue that their overall situation was better in 1945 in northern cities than it is now. Those who say it claim that employment was better, men actually married, most black children were born in wedlock and were raised by a mother and a father, schools actually enforced discipline, and the black church was the center of community life.

I didn’t say it’s safe to assume that past customs were necessarily more moral or humane or in line with Catholic teaching in the past than now. For one thing, one has to choose the periods to compare. However, I think it’s fairly safe to look at the literature and the artifacts of different periods and make some comparisons. So let’s look at the 1940s and early 1950s, for instance. Many of the great Catholic (and other) charitable institutions in existence then are gone…their sometimes magnificent but now converted or abandoned buildings testify to a falling off of at least that. Religious orders that served the poor and the ignorant have essentially dissolved into septuagenarian-operated leftist political foundations. Abortion was not a major industry. Most working class people married and raised their children together. Now, most black children are born out of wedlock and are raised by a single parent. Nearly half of white working class people do the same. Abortion is a huge industry. Education of virtually all children in the public system has very clearly decayed, and certainly relative to that of other countries.

I don’t think our era can claim moral superiority over that one, nor humaneness either.

Do you talk about your spouse in public? Do you hold hands, or steal the occasional kiss on a date? If introducing someone as your spouse/partner is sharing your sexuality, then straight people are guilty of it as well. In Russia, someone who does any of these things that are part of day to day life is guilty of a crime and subject to punishment.
So then if you plan to go to Russia a powerful country that is weak on the democratic front, for any reason then DON’T break their laws. Simple as that. If we can’t help people who get into trouble often times in 3rd world countries then do you really think that the state department can help you in Russia? You know the Russia law as autocratic as it is really serves to protect you in a country where hooliganism and street violence against minorities or anyone different is rampant and often goes unchecked by law enforcement. Two guys kissing each other on the streets in Russia could get jumped by a group of young men and beaten to death. It aint America you know. You just don’t go to places like Russia for the purposes of making political statements,. Not everybody will get the “Snowdon treatment.”

This being said the eyes of the world are on Russia and if any Russians will kick off, my money is on members of the Russian public not the government or the police. As for boycotting the Olympics, nobody’s going to do that now, not for this issue so you might as well drop it.

Actually we (Catholics) would likely be arguing that the homosexual conduct was contrary to Catholic social values however if we were going to arrest people for sinning we might as well arrest all people at the moment to commit an offence that is contrary to the word of God.

Truthfully they probably never considered such a concept for Criminal Law even at the establishment of the Vatican.

I wouldn’t carry a beer around in my hand in Saudi Arabia either. Nor would I carry a reefer in Singapore. And I sure wouldn’t insist on driving on the right side of the road in England.
And for sure I wouldn’t expect my “conceal and carry” permit to protect me from arrest in Chicago.

We all know those things and accept them as just what one has to not do in particular places. We don’t make a big howling “human rights” deal over them. But bring up homosexual sexual expression, and there’s an outcry. Amazing how twisted our values have become.

Only if the sexuality they insist on displaying publicly is a disordered one. There is nothing disordered about heterosexuality.

Excellent post. It hurts no one to just follow the local laws. If an individual is going to be involved with international sporting competitions, it should be common knowledge that different countries have different laws and as guests, the athletes are expected to follow them.

There’s nothing that gives you the right to decide a gay couple’s love is disordered.

It is a sign of the times in which we live… sadly.

There are some things that are so displaced from their purpose that just about anybody could see they are disordered. So, for example, the compulsion of people suffering from Pika who eat dirt or stones or feces compulsively, is considered “disordered” because it is a departure from the natural purpose of eating and can be injurious as well. Homosexual acts are not different in that regard.

But Corki didn’t have to decide that on his/her own. The Church teaches that it’s disordered, and the Bible makes it pretty clear as well.

I said nothing about their love being disordered. Sexual attraction to a member of the same sex is objectively disordered - always has been always will be. That doesn’t make it sinful but it isn’t the way humans were designed.

There are many disorders that are accepted and accommodated in our society. For example, disordered vision, disordered hearing or disordered growth progress. They are called disabilities. Homosexuality is no different. It is a disorder, a variation from the norm for a healthy human, in the ability to form sexual relations. Biologically, by definition, sexual organisms survive by heterosexuality. A person who is unable to do that has a disorder.
