**One other thing. Perhaps the best example of media bias concerns Israel**. Rarely - almost never - does any US newspaper, columnist, commentator or politician dare say a word of criticism of Israel. Just today I heard on the news that the Republican candidates for president pledged their wholehearted support to that government. Newt, for example, said he would immediately move the US embassy to Jerusalem. Frankly, I think that this bias in our media, plus Christian Zionists, have misled the public on the complexities of that whole Israeli-Palestinian issue, and much of the terrorism directed against the USA can be traced back to that. We could and should have been both pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian, making sure, among other things, that Palestinians were treated fairly, including generous compensation for their lands that were seized. How many lives and how many billions upon billions that would have saved!
But I'm not keeping strictly on the thread, except that Newt nd others are working hard to canvas Jewish votes, and especially money from wealthy Jews. **Ron Paul has ****shown guts on this issue**, one of the handful in Congress who dared vote against the billions in our taxes that have gone to Israel - perhaps a trillion when everything is added and allowance is made for inflation.
This deserves a book, but it's too long already. **I just want to add that the USA is very** **generous to most of the world.** When disasters hit anywhere in the world, our hearts and our pocketbooks open up. Some of our policies have been bad, and listening to the Republicans if they win they won't be any better, probably worse. But Obama hasn't been great in this, also.
