Glenn Beck says to run away from churches who preach social justice?

What problem is it you are talking about? Perhaps this is where there has been such a misunderstanding - I do not see any problem with the Social Justice Teaching of the Catholic Church - perhaps others do - but if they do - I can only wonder why they remain in communion?
Social Justice does require us to give to the poor, but is it not also best to help the poor improve their lives by teaching them, giving them a job, and setting them up to be able to succeed on their own? That is the social justice I think Christ wants us to do.

This is why the government shouldn’t do it. They do give the poor money that fixes the short-term problems, but they are still going to be reliant on the government in the future (Not to mention the government is trying to get federal funding for abortion, which is a big no-no.)

This is what I think Glenn Beck is trying to say.

Now, I am actually an old listener of Glenn Beck’s. I actually won a game of “Apples to Apples” from him on a trivia thing he did during his Christmas tour. He’s not some mean-spirited guy. He says that if government spending set people up for success and not dependency, it would be great. But it doesn’t. Beck is a big fan of charities, however, which I believe are much better than government spending.

Let me personally introduce myself. Now you know someone who believes that "social justice (or “peace and justice” or the like) is a vehicle for dissenters within the Church to advance a socialist agenda. The Church, with the help and blessing of the clergy, has funneled hundreds of millions of dollars to socialist, pro-abortion, pro-gay activity, organizations. I wish Beck would expose all of this and educate the average Catholic.
Of course, I don’t really know you.
You’re a claimed name on an a center site.

A very strong accusation against the clergy and the church. Do you have evidence of such wrong doings?
God bless you Monica…but I would not say even one word regarding the evidence. Just keep praying…and know a ton of us are with you!

Catholic Campaign for Human Development. The networking is mind-numbing. I personally discovered Church monies being spent to help open a contraception distributing, abortion referral service clinic. On another occasion Church monies were granted to a group operating a youth after school LBGT program. This was just the fruit of my meager research. Do some searches on the CCHD - it is diabolical.

With all due respect…why do you keep going after Beck when you admit you have never watched him or listened to him…or even heard of him before this thread? This has got to be a joke…that you would do this without any firsthand experience of Beck.
This thread is called:
Glenn Beck says to run away from churches who preach social justice?

I enter threads (at least to read them) when the term Social Justice is mentioned.
I have read and viewed every blurb of beck on this thread.

Social Justice is a VIRTUE in the Catholic Church. That’s a FACT.

Any other questions?

I wonder why such people don’t dispute the teaching that “offends” them.

Being Catholic doesn’t mean being conservative or liberal, republican or democrat - as I understand it being Catholic means trying to follow the teaching of Christ as they are handed down to us by the Church. The Catholic Church does teach Social Justice - not liberation theology, and not an individualistic world view either. The Social Justice teaching of our church just makes sense and I think some are willing to say it is wrong, or being taught incorrectly because someone on TV says it is so… anyway - I don’t want to assume bad motives on the part of anyone posting here - I think it can be challenging to have a respectful exchange of thoughts and I also think divisiveness is being ramped up — we should work very hard to ramp it down!

Blessings!

P.S., I wasn’t aware of that, most protestants I’ve met really make that distinction… they have ministers… not priests, but that is my experience I guess. **Yep. **

CCHD ends funding to ACORN over financial irregularities

By Dennis Sadowski
Catholic News Service

WASHINGTON (CNS) – The Catholic Campaign for Human Development suspended funding a nationwide community organizing group after it was disclosed June 2 that nearly $1 million had been embezzled.

Funding was suspended for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, popularly known as ACORN, because of the financial irregularities, said Ralph McCloud, executive director of CCHD, the U.S. bishops’ domestic anti-poverty and social justice program.

“We’re not funding them at any level,” McCloud told Catholic News Service Oct. 15.**

In the next few years, the odious nature of Acorn was more fully discovered. The Catholic Church had already cut it off and warned others about it in public. If monica knows of other instances, I too would like to be informed of that.

One cannot make unattributed allegations here, esp about Catholics.
It’s common to name one’s sources.

(It seems that jewellls17 tried to answer for you???)

Acorn is just one of the groups. Do not be fooled by the suspension of some grants to a group they ought not have been funding in the first place. It is a good place to start but keep digging. The networking is mind-numbing. Get hold of the annual reports listing the groups receiving grants. I have only been able to look into Chicago grants of the last few years. Google, search, call ect… the groups and all of their links and friends… Mind numbing.

Interfaith Leadership Council (Chicago) - Catholic Parish dues paying members, CCHD grants - helped to open the Access Clinic (pro-abortion)

Brighton Park Neighborhood Council (Chicago) same story as above, Operates a LBGT after shool program.

There is a time and a place for everything. Stop trying to rough Monica up…she does not owe you anything. You have slandered Beck up one side and down the other…with nothing but hear say to go on…so how can you rough her up to press her for facts when you have none regarding Beck?

Lakeview Action Coalition (Catholic Parish dues paying members, CCHD grant) St. Clement’s hosted a fundraiser awarding a pro-abortion, pro-gay state Rep. Feigenholtz the Gregory Dell Award (An award named after the gay activist Gregory Dell).

**I have no intention of “digging” and I’ve known of the Acorn scam for a good while.

I expect YOU to provide links to reputable sources to support your accusations.
I’ve done you a BIG favor by giving one example.
Now YOU do the rest.

Name your sources and provide the links.**

Provide your links.

Name the Catholic Social Justice Teaching that you imagine led to abuses.

People, let us remain civilized and charitable here. Do not accuse either side of actions that you have no proof for.

Now, as to Glenn Beck, it is possible that he is criticizing social justice as a whole (which is wrong), but it is also possible that he is seeking to make social justice more in tune with promoting good in the world and based in truth (which is commendable)

As to social justice programs, yes, there are “Catholic” organizations that are going against the Church by promoting and supporting things that run contrary to Church teaching. However, there are also many charitable groups that are promoting the love and generosity of Christ, which is always good.

We must remember to make sure we are speaking truths here. Yes, we can speculate to an extent, but we cannot assume things of people. You know the old saying: When you assume you make an *** out of you and me, to put it in humorously.

You make rules that state I can NOT ask for sources for statements?

Glenn Beck is correct…I know so. Do the research Monica said to do and if someone refuses to do that…maybe they know she is right.

Yes, thanks to you, I scrolled back and noted jewell17’s attack on me. She’s new here. Apparently she thinks she can make rules that have never existed on CA.

I am asking for sources for links from monica to support monica’s declarations.
That is NORMAL. Itr is a reasonable request.

jewells17 declaring “don’t answer her, monica” is very unusual.
I’ve never seen such a tactic used on CA before this time.

As for glennbeck, I have no reason to believe that I will “learn” anything good
from someone who abandoned his faith. in such a public way. He rebukes Catholicism.

Glenn Beck is correct…I know so. Do the research Monica said to do and if someone refuses to do that…maybe they know she is right.
As an old listener to Beck (pre-TV show) I do tend to think that Glenn is trying to point out the false “social justice”, but catherina is nonetheless justified in asking for sources.

I do encourage people to post links to evidence that supports their claims or disagrees with their opponents, or at least to provide some information on where we might find this evidence.
