Feel free to air your thoughts and explanations on the many topics I surely left out.

Relativism. “When all religions are the same” is accepted, the uniqueness of Christianity disapears. The message will eventually also disapears. It won’t completely disapear, but it will shrink. That’s what’s happening right now.

Good answer. I wish I would’ve thought of that as an option. I voted for hedonism. Pleasure seems to be all that American culture seeks. Hedonism seems to be this sort of socially acceptable demon-mutt of sloth, lust, greed, hate, self-love, selfishness, gluttony and vanity. And pop culture seems to say, “why not? You deserve it!”

I second relativism. Very dangerous, that. Consumerism and secularism come in respectively 2nd and 3rd place, that considered.

I voted for secularism, which I think encompasses relativism. The world has seen some of your choices from the beginning and others have come and gone. Secularism will go too. It will be replaced, and is being replaced even as we speak, by religious intolerance such as the world has never seen, especially against Catholicism.

I don’t see secularism being replaced until Christ returns in glory to put it in its rightful place. If you’re referring to the rise of Muslim extremism, I don’t think that’s going to be as popular or even as deadly as secularism. At least Muslims live by the notion that their actions are accountable to Allah. Secularists hold no higher authority than themselves. And if they, as their own highest authority, deem other religious should no longer be practiced, all hell is going to break loose throughout the earth…literally.

I still think hedonism’s lies and subtlety are the most brilliant and enslaving form of deception, but secularism is right on its heels. What secularism lacks in its persuasiveness, it makes up for with its aggressiveness. Unfortunately, hedonism is both persuasive and aggressive.

I voted “other”–and my vote is for “modernism”, which embraces secularism, hedonism, relativism, etc.

Ever since the early 20th century when people started first to make God into a partner, then a force, then an imaginary being, and finally have gone full circle into having man create God instead of God creating man, we’ve been wandering farther and farther from Him. Time to turn back!

I chose absence of true love, because since God himself is love the absence of love is the absence of God.Without God to guide us on some level anything goes:twocents: God Bless

I also voted true love. True love takes care of all the other categories in one way or another. Love God above all and love your neighbor as yourself.

I voted Secularism. What I really mean is lack of belief, or more accurately avoidance of belief, in God. This includes those who espouse God only to bolster their own pet projects.

Everyone knows deep down that there is a God and that He created them for a purpose. But many hope that if they ignore Him He will go away.

Until we truly seek to know why we were made and strive to fulfill that goal, we are going to wander in the wilderness.

I voted “other”. Islam is the greatest threat to the world today. Wait until your children or grandchildren have to fight a Moslem vs Christian world war. It will make the crusades look like a friendly discussion.

God have mercy on us,
Paul

After reading through the choices and some of the posts I am thinking the greatest threat is NEOLOGISM! (especially with regard to isms)

Threat to my sanity that is!

It hasn’t changed in 2000 years, Ambivalence has always been the greatest threat to good in the world.

I voted secularism, but I think "Absenteeism” of Christians in the fore front in the establishment of Global Policy is and will remain our biggest problem.

I may be a bit off here, but I think the greatest threat to world is disbelief in sin; especially mortal sin. Many of the “-isms” can be rooted back to the disbelief of sin and Satan himself.

The greatest victory of the devil is when people no longer believe he exists. If you don’t believe in Satan and sin and the effects they cause in this world, why do you need a Savior?

In His Peace!

I voted secularism because it seems to take God out of everything, but actually if Everyone truly Loved Everyone, I suppose all other problems would disappear.

I don’t think love of others will ever prevail until people love God first.

I picked other, its because nuclear weapons are the biggest threat because they will wipe out an entire area in a matter of seconds.

Padre Pio “Don’t worry, work and pray.”

I chose “other” - the biggest threat to the world today is radical islam. This is because it will stop at nothing to destroy anyone who stands in its way, including fellow muslims.
