I picked other, its because nuclear weapons are the biggest threat because they will wipe out an entire area in a matter of seconds.

Padre Pio “Don’t worry, work and pray.”
Nuclear weapons don’t kill. Inanimate objects with no free will or reason?? No, it’s people, with a belief that firing them is necessary…*they *kill.

I voted other, you left out the “all the above” choice.

I am suprised to see so many responses for secularism! I consider myself to be secular- I think politics and government need to have definite division from religion. If not, you see crazy fundamentalists (I’m not just talking Muslims, folks) taking over the political scene- justifying terrorism and war b/c “Well, Allah/Jesus/my favorite evangelist told me it was the right thing to do.”

I think the greatest threat is a lack of genuine love! As long as people are only looking after #1, or their country, or their specific people group we are always going to have major problems.

For those of you who voted secularism, I ask you: how would you feel living in a country that didn’t protect your right to worship as a Catholic/Christian and instead had a government lead by a muslim leader? Secularism is NOT anti-God, it is anti religious involvement in government… and secularism would be your best friend if someday America doesn’t happen to be run by a predominantly Christian governing body!

Just my :twocents:

 :ehh:

You are a church/state separatist, not a secularist. Those are COMPLETELY different. You cannot be a religious secularist That’s like an abortionist saying “I’m pro-life” or a Christian saying, “it’s OK to worship other gods.”. It’s a contradiction of terms.

You are wrong: secularism, by its very nature, IS anti-God. Church/state separatism is not.

I think that basically all your choices are just different fruit on the same tree.

I voted “other”. Islam is the greatest threat to the world today. Wait until your children or grandchildren have to fight a Moslem vs Christian world war. It will make the crusades look like a friendly discussion.

God have mercy on us,
Paul

I chose “other” - the biggest threat to the world today is radical islam. This is because it will stop at nothing to destroy anyone who stands in its way, including fellow muslims.
I disagree with these.
Don’t fear those who can kill the body. Fear those who can kill the soul.
I am most concerned about those things that can put my children at risk. Such as reductionism, secularism, modernism etc.

How about lack of good catechesis?

The greatest threat is radical Islam. If they could they would do away with all other religions by killing anyone who refused to convert to their brand of Islam.

Like what happened in england and other places against catholics. It can never be done. It would only create super christians (saints) that would turn the tide eventually.

Yet they will never prevail, Christ promised that the gates of hell will not prevail against his church.

Consider that nuclear weapons are anti-christian and should be torn down, and that killing millions of people kills one’s own soul. Its for that reason why I say its a bigger threat nuclear weapons do more destruction technically speaking than poor catechesis can.

You are putting the cart before the horse, my friend.

My answer is secularism, but I think that all the choices are the work of the devil. I am studying the Old Testament now, and we just read about the worship of animals by the Egyptians, and that the Israelites needed to unlearn this bad habbit of woshiping cows, snakes, frogs, and other creatures.

I find this almost laughable that people worshiped these creatures, but then if we honestly look around us it could be said that we worship money and what money can buy.
