…Or perhaps he was homosexual but lived chastely. We don’t know. God knows, and I personally hope that Liberace will be in heaven playing that most gorgeous piano in the universe!
That’s right. We don’t know if he lived that lifestyle. But he shouldn’t have denied that he was gay. I mean come on, just looking at him we know he’s gay. I am not against a homosexual person. Just against living the lifestyle. So we don’t know if he actually did. And if he didn’t because of his faith then more power to him. I’m sure if that’s the case then he’s in Heaven with Jesus. 🙂

Madonna is Jewish in the mystical tradition of Kaballa some would say cultish tradition. But you can’t be both a Jew and a Catholic so she has dropped all claims to being caholic better for the religions sake but of course bad for her soul.
And I would say, not even Qaballah, considering it’s Hollywood-chick Qaballah, not the real thing. Real Qaballah is almost exclusively male dominated–Qaballah is the theological school to which Hasidic Jews belong, along with the other Ashkenazi (Eastern European) Orthodox Jews, and it’s based on the Zohar. The other Orthodox Jewish theological school is Maimonidean, sort of comparable to Thomistic Philosophy (which it helped create, indirectly); it’s dominant among Spanish and Italian Jews, and Middle-Eastern Jews who aren’t immigrants from Eastern Europe. They base their philosophy on the writings of the rabbi Moses “Rambam” Maimonides, and don’t accept the Zohar. Personally I like their Aristotelian, faith-and-reason approach a lot more than Qabbalah’s fundamentalist (no, really) mysticism.

Also, speaking of Jews, Alan Combs (or however you spell his last name) is Jewish, not Catholic.

Why? There’s nothing in Christian doctrine which says that you have to tell the world all about the temptations you are prone to.
I mean come on, just looking at him we know he’s gay.
No you cannot possibly know that by looking at a person, and it is a sin to publicly gossip about the temptations you believe a person has, when he has not publicly disclosed them; and even more so when he has in fact publicly denied the accusation. There are many practising homosexuals who look perfectly “normal”, and there are many NON-homosexuals who have the voice, style, clothes and/or mannerisms which are popularly supposed to be stereotypical of homosexuals.
I am not against a homosexual person. Just against living the lifestyle. So we don’t know if he actually did. And if he didn’t because of his faith then more power to him. I’m sure if that’s the case then he’s in Heaven with Jesus. 🙂
Amen

John Voight (revert, like Martin Sheen, liberal)

anyone know if Rene Aberjonois is a practicing Catholic? (Star Trek DS9, Boston Legal, The Patriot) He’s Quebequois and did the voice over on a very respectful documentary on Paul Paul II

Has anyone seen the tele-movie he did on Pope John Paul?

John Paul II–I do a spell correction on Aberjonois, and miss the obvious:rolleyes: --that’s what comes from less than 5 hours sleep!

I hope Frank Sinatra reverted to The Church on his deathbed because he sure did not live a Catholic life.

Madonna is just plain awful and certainly does not, nor has ever, in her professional life been a practicing Catholic.
She does not do ANY justice to her name.

The opinons of Kabballah differe widely in Judasim some rule out all forms as a European infection of medievil mysticism, some accept some forms but yeah I have heard most schools of Judaism tend to frown on Madonna’s brand of Kaballah alltogether. I never said anything about Alan Combs being anything but Jewish, he is it appears a non-practicing Jew as he attends weekly mass with his Catholic wife, he is though not Catholic nor pretending to be one.

Yeah JOhn Vioght did a great job in the JP2 biopic. I saw him interviewed on EWTN on his potrayal and he seems to have been changed by the role and did a great deep of research on this man’s theology and lifestory. On a secular level he has made some statements about hoping his daughter would live a moral life and regrets about himself not living the moral life he should have. I think their is a great deal of hope for the man and his insights into JP2 encylcials and worldview are very insightful. He as admitted he fell into the trap of Hollywood hey didn’t Mel Gibson adn Silverster Stallone admit the same thing let’s not convict the guy I am sure given the same temptations we might fallen as well. Keep Vioght in your prayers thier is something to work with there as I think the JP2 role has him thinking about the Catholcism he was brought up with and abandoned for a while.

Bob Hopes wife is a great supporter of Mother Angelica and EWTN.

Robert Urich of blessed memory, was Ruthenian Byzantine

Gregory Hines was buried in a Ukranian Catholic Cemetary

Senator Paul Tsongas (?Catholic or Orthodox one)

Paul Weyrich is Melkite Greek Catholic

Jack Palance was raised Ukrainian Catholic

Robert Spencer, author of several books on Islam and on the news a lot, is actually Fr. Deacon Robert Spencer of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church

Also, an interesting side note…
The Reggae singer Bob Marley became Ethiopian Orthodox sometime before his death. He left the Rastafarians(sp).

Jack Palance is recently deceased and what’s the bit on Rober Spencer is he a deacon or a priest?

I’m almost positive that Gerard Butler is Catholic. He talked about his sister having a big catholic wedding.
Andy Warhol (not sure that I spelled his name right) was Catholic. I read in an article that he went to church everyday. I know he was homosexual and probebly practised the life style, but I won’t even pretend to have the right to judge him. He seemed like a truely tortured soul.
I don’t get why so many people here seem to think that they have the God given right to pass judgement on these people when they don’t even know them. Doesn’t that go against the commandment ‘though shalt not pass fase witness’?:hmmm:

Allen Alda
Nope, sorry!! He’s pro-Abortion, and pro-feminism.

Well I know for sure that he’s an activist in the feminist movement. As far as being pro-Abortion, that’s what I’ve heard but I’m not 100% sure about that. So if someone knows otherwise please correct me if I’m wrong about the pro-Abortion thing.

ISTM you’ve got a pretty low standard of proof. Maybe his brother-in-law is a Cayholic.

I guess we’ll just have to say that Hitler, Mussolini, and Fidel Castro were Catholics, period. “Passing judgment” doesn’t come into it. IFF a person is “practising the homosexual lifestyle”, then by definition he is not a practising Catholic, no matter how often he goes to church. Unless every morning he regretted what he did the night before and went to confession with a firm purpose of not doing it again, before going to Mass.

Only if what they’re saying is false (calumny) or is not public knowledge (detraction). .

I’m still going to say that this person or that person must be catholic only in title. I don’t have the God given right to look at a person and pass any kind of judgement before truely knowing them.

I think Perry Como would be the perfect example of what you are looking for in a Hollywood Catholic. I never heard any scandal about him and he was married to the same woman for over fifty years.

Hmmm, I guess you have a pretty low standard of manners. I didn’t say I was 100% sure he was Catholic, so maybe read a little closer next time. And maybe brush up on a polite way of talking to someone.
