The problem as I see it from what you’ve posted, is that sexuality is NOT as important as society believes it is these days.
So you believe sexuality is not an important part of one’s life? Also i didn’t say anything about agreeing with society’s stance on sexuality (which often tries to make it an identity). All i am simply saying is that sexuality is important in one’s life. Please explain to me the disagreement

At the end of the day, “phobia” is an overly extreme and irrational fear of something or someone.

In this case, to uphold Church teaching is not to exhibit an overly extreme and irrational fear of homosexuals or homosexuality.

Comments about AIDS and feces in food prepared by homosexuals, however, as posted in this thread, is absolutely homophobic (Seriously, you think gays don’t know about disease transmission or food safety or something?)

I disagree. If you view many (if not most) of the threads on CAF with regards to this issue, extreme and irrational fear of homosexuals/ homosexuality is exactly what you will find. Fear that society is on the verge of collapse because of the acceptance of the “gay lifestyle”. The word “hate” is used with regards to the gay “lifestyle” becuase the hater is afraid and fearful of how offensive God will find it.

That is a whole lotta fear I see here, and on a regular basis.

I think phobia is a good way to describe that kind of fear. It is overly extreme and irrational because there is no evidence to back up the claims made.

Just for linguistic purposes, homophobia is an absolutely acceptable word to use and it does exist. Upholding church teaching in a honest way clearly does not imply homophobia but ill explain the word another way. A phobia is an irrational fear that corresponds with unpleasant emotions or feelings characterized by a “perceived danger or threat”. This is absolutely true. Many Catholics feel “threatened” by homosexuality for various reasons. As if homosexuals somehow threaten them or the things that they believe.

Homophobia does not have to mean Christians are “scared” of homosexuals, It can mean that Christians feel threatened by them. This is irrational as a huge percentage of Christians are afraid that acceptance of homosexuals is going to do something catastrophic to the faith. This way of thinking can actually be part of a real psychological disorder.

Same old arguments and excuses and whatnot. Worse of all nobody gets any better.

The Young & The Restless soap on CBS set up a potential love triangle with two girls & a guy but the twist? Both girls are bisexual

We’ll see if Kyle figure it out that in the end he’s going to be left out cold & look like an idiot for trying at all.

Thank God, the Cardinal had the clarity and the guts to say what needed to be said.

Society has become like the Soviet Union, with so many people afraid to speak the truth.

But is homophobia a hatred for homosexuals or fear?

I am confused as to what the definition is

I could care less what secularist psychologists say LOL! Their flagship organization reflects their overall slide into cultural Marxist atheism.

There is no fear.

There may be annoyance.

There may be sadness in seeing so many souls mixed up, running to their psychiatrists, attempting suicide, rethinking themselves.

There may even be some righteous anger in seeing marriage attacked, distorted, redefined.

There may be disgust upon learning about what some people do with their faculties.

But not a scintilla of fear.

If you look up the definition of fear it can mean the feeling of being threatened. Christian’s often will say they feel that homosexuality “ threatens” the sanctity of marriage. Fear is actually an appropriate word to use If the meaning is agreed upon.

Just because you gave your list of what you feel personally doesn’t mean you speak for 2 billion+ christians 🙂

If you don’t feel fear or threatened, you can definitely speak for yourself and from your own experience and views

I don’t know a single adult male who is afraid of homosexuals or so called homosexuality.

Not one.

That the term has been so widely accepted - in contrast to this number of ZERO - tells you how preposterous the assertion is.

The ratio of actuals shows the lie.

It’s a marketing ploy, comparable to something Goebells would create.

Homophobia doesn’t mean you’re afraid in the traditional sense

But I do think many many men are terrified of having a gay son
