Here’s a couple of facts-
First- the OT admonitions re homosexuality (the most famous from Leviticus) are part of what’s known as the “Holiness Code” of the Jewish Scriptures, handed on to us as the Old Testament. Those of us who are gay are told we must observe this code lest we perish in hell’s fire. Those who do so condemn us should read the ENTIRE “Holiness Code”. If you do read carefully, you’ll find that if I and my partner of 27 years are bound for hell, we’ll have many of you for company. Just count the number of items marked as “abominations” to God or how many times YOU could be put to death let alone those of us you condemn simply because of our sexuality.
Second- I’m in two professions that give me a unique perspective on marriage and related subjects. I’ll stack up my partnership with Jacob as well as the way our children have turned out against the majority of hetero marriages. Our partnership and family would come out on top in most cases. Example- my High School reunion- where i found the majority of my former classmates on spouse 2 or 3 (one case was on spouse 4) and their children left to make their on ways in life because Mom and Dad couldn (or wouldn’t) try to avoid the divorce courts. Forgiven, of course are those lost their spouses via tragic death at our relatively young ages.
Point is, read the scriptures a bit more carefully and make sure your own marital situation is in order before condemning anyone else’s- hetero or otherwise.
I’ve only had a chance to read few posts here. I’m not here to take sides- I want to enourage people to take a second look or MORE before jumping on a bandwagon that condemns others for questionable reasons.
