In modern parlance, Christ was crucified for hate speech. Strangely odd, since His message is love.
po18guy:

Strangely, Christ’s “hate speech” as you call it, was directed at those very people who were over zealous and condemned Him without first understanding Him. Yeah, those are the people who I want to be like. Christ did not have hate speech for those who were keeping the most important of all commandments, “Love They Neighbor”. He had hate speach for those who were not.

If Christ was on this thread right now (which He is) who do you think he’d have hate speech for? The sinner or the one condemning the sinner?

Oh and by the way, this statement is TOTALLY out of line with our Chruch. Our Church will not rebaptise them and why not? Because the Church believes they were baptized in the fullness of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

So if for no other reason, you’d better rethink that one on those grounds.
The Church recognizes SDA baptism because it is done in using the Trinitarian formula with the intention of doing what the Church does in baptizing.

But your original comment was “How IS the SDA church in harmony with the Apostles with the exception of baptism?” My point in response was that the SDA denomination is not in harmony with the Apostles with regard to baptism.

By the way it has never been my intention to scold you. If I came across as scolding I apologize. I trust that we can disagree without our disagreement being perceived as being scolding.

Marsha

You must have a divine gift of knowing what is on the hearts of man. I think you are too hung up on words Marsha. A church is a church. Here is webster’s def. of a church:

1.) one of the groups of Christians who have their own beliefs and forms of worship.

**It is what is on their mouths that we know, Only God know people’s hearts. 👍 You would do good to remember that my friend who likes to call himself “christian” but doesn’t act like one nor defends his religion from attacks by the devil. Hmmm. OK! **

**By the way, here is Webster’s definition **of a CULT: a religion regarded as unorthodox or spurious ; also : its body of adherents

**If it quacks, walks and flys ~ you better call it a DUCK!😃 **

**what part of that was kind? SDA hates US buddy wake up! **
The part where I didn’t call you a name or say your soul is doomed or say you belong to a cult or put little exploding smilies in my post or ones that are shooting you because I don’t like what you say.

And I don’t care if he hates me, which I doubt he hates anyone here. I still love my fellow Christians and I wholeheartedly accept the part of the lamb.

Agreed. How are they not in harmony with the Apostolic teaching on baptism? How can we know what’s on their hearts as individuals when they are baptized? That’s all I’m saying.

Happily:

RealCatholic isn’t being hateful, in fact RealCatholic didn’t tell the half of it. She skipped the part where SDAs teach that the Church is the whore of babylon and the pope is the anti-christ. If the Catholic Church disappeared in the night, the SDA denomination couldn’t even exist because their end-time beliefs are totally based on the evilness of the Catholic Church.

Marsha
Our SDA chaplain at work gave a particularly secular co-worker a copy of “7 Mysteries Solved”. I quickly turned to the section which identifies the anti-christ (singular): Yes, it’s the Pope! But, which one of the 266 (plural)? Like the Mormon “great apostasy” hoax, the SDA cannot say which one. Their theology is hate-filled toward the CC and while they believe, per Ellen Gould White’s “Word”, that some Catholics are saved, the CC itself is of the devil. Even if you actually believe this, how do you explain the Catholic exorcist priests? Are they then casting out good spirits? Are the SDA blaspheming the Holy Spirit? Pray not!

Come on!!! It is the demon of division who caused to the founding of the SDA by well-meaning but mis-lead Christians. Remember that false prophets and anti-christs have long since gone out into the world. (1 John 2:18)Their purpose is to deceive and divide. All of them point to their version, however false, of Christ: “Here is the Christ” or “Look, there He is” (Matthew 24:23-26, Mark 13:21)

Christ Himself Divinely counsels: (Luke 21:8)
He replied: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near’. Do not follow them.”

"The time is near" is the founding cry of the SDA, the JWs and the LDS. Enough said?

Two questions for all separated brothers and sisters to ponder:
  1. Does the Holy Spirit unite?
  2. Does the demon divide?

I was an SDA for the first 31 years of my life. I attended an SDA university and I took 54 credit hours of religion (the equivalent of a major). I read all of EGW’s books, gave Bible studies, taught religion in an SDA school and preached from the SDA pulpit on occasion.

I cannot say what is in an individual’s heart, but I can say with some degree of expertise what the denomination teaches.

But, here’s the scary part: You are called to lead them to the fulness of truth, the fulness of God’s revelation. We will answer for those times when we failed to do so.

I think the better question is what part of it was kind.
**The truth is always kinder than alie. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. **

**I have read back through your posts, I hate to tell yuo this but we disagree on ver few things. You just are more passive towards evil than I am. Jesus said to buy swords! **
We have to defend out faith and not indorce evil or deceit!

** I withdraw from anymore discussion I rather just agree to disagree. I will still pray for 101 and every one else on this sight. As I said there are many good, caring people here. I can count the evil ones on one hand and you nor 101 are counted there.**

God Bless

po18guy:
But, Noah Webster compiled the definition after the Protestant rebellion. For 1,500 years, it meant the one true church. Webster was a Protestant Calvinist and Congregationalist. (v1.acton.org/publicat/randl/liberal.php?id=269 ) He changed the spelling of many words in common American usage and was clearly oriented toward a multiplicity of denominations. I do not believe that we can rely upon his unique and inclusive definition of church as historically accurate. It is certainly not biblically accurate.

We as Americans, have a horribly skewed vision of Christianity, since our nation was founded and its traditions and teachings are almost completely Protestant. This has crept into and polluted Catholic thinking and teaching to a substantial extent.

All in all, Christ founded one true Church in union. Ecumenism must have its place, but not at the cost of truth. Catholics, having the fulness of revelation and truth, cannot compromise on these facts for the sake of expediency. IMHO.
Oh good grief, you are just wound way too tight. I have continually asked Protestant101 some hard questions that he has yet to answer. I don’t condone this denomination, but I have not had to condemn him or call him names or insult his religion.

That’s the problem on most of this thread is that catholics and I’m no exception, tend to forget about charity when they are being attacked. And he has attacked me too. To say that Jesus was not charitable is just foolish. Remember the whole “turn the other cheek” thing?

I have a real problem with those who choose to be belligerant instead of using their vocabulary to express themselves.

And I’ll take my chances with the word “church”.

Anyone care to discuss the ways SDAs are not in harmony with the Apostles instead of proving how we are not in harmony with the Apostles? 😦

But, here’s the scary part: You are called to lead them to the fulness of truth, the fulness of God’s revelation. We will answer for those times when we failed to do so.
I can do that without being belligerant, can’t you?

Realcatholicgk, I have to say something…it has been on my heart a little bit today as I’ve been reading these forums…

I know your intentions are good. I agree wholeheartedly with stepping up and defending truth against evil. I know that you are trying to be like a soldier for truth, wearing the full armor of God (ephesians) :knight2: :knight1:

But I have personally been a little offended by some of your methods… Or rather, not offended, but ashamed. I don’t mean to scold you or reprimand you (maybe this is just the mommy in me speaking out lol!). Sometimes I laugh at your posts, the sarcasm can be pretty amusing. But sometimes I do think you go a little far, and it becomes difficult to differentiate harmful sarcasm from deep founded malice. I’m sorry for saying this! But I don’t think machine guns and smiley faces shooting each other are what Christ had in mind for sharing the truth in love.

I believe that the SDA cult and others are absolutely the devil’s work, influenced by the father of lies to keep God’s children from the truth. But I do not believe SDA PEOPLE are evil. You start to delve into two realms of theology. Our church teaches that all humans are inherently good, created lovingly in the image of God. And though we can choose sin, and fall into lies…we are still God’s creation. Sometimes I feel by your posts that you tend more towards Luther’s theology…as if deep down people are evil and detestable, and that faith in God somehow “covers” our inherent evilness… But that faith in lies keeps us evil. Does that make sense? I don’t think you REALLY believe luther’s theology…especially because you have said you do feel our seperated brothers and sisters still LOVE Jesus and have good intentions… But some of your posts make me feel like that is what you believe.

Anyway sorry to drag on! I just think it’s important to always remember WHOM we are defending when we engage in apologetics… It’s ok to be angry about evil! It’s good to be angry about the lies our brothers and sisters are falling into… but sometimes there is such a fine line between “hating the sin, loving the sinner…” And I’m just trying to say that in your posts it’s hard to tell where that line is for you.

God bless you, and keep up the apologetics! Sometimes your “frank” approach is much more bold than I am brave enough to take! And we NEED brave Catholics who will teach the hard truths sometimes:)

I will be completely candid with you. Most of the SDA doctrines scare me. I do have friends that are SDA and I’m afraid for them. But do you agree that a lot, if not most of SDAs don’t know all of their doctrine? I know they “study” before they are baptized and join the church but I’ll be darned if I can get anything out of my friends on what that’s about. I can’t find any kind of information on any form of classes given to them.

Do you have some insight on that?

real: you are one of our most fervent defenders of the faith on here. Can’t you just do it a little less graphically, you know, for us lambs? :o

**Happily, EXCELLENT! You can only help when you know what you are fighting against. A surgeon doesn’t operate until he is sure what has to be removed. Unfortunally with SDAs it is maor surgery! One of the reason I said what I did was to see if 101 even knew that the SDA taught the things I said. He didn’t reply, you did? **

**We are truely bless to have Marsha here and I know it isn’t by accident! God works miracles. For her to “escape” SDA and be here at this time if awesome! 👍 Even if she thought I was a SOB!!! Female! 😃 **
