Thank you, Lord, for your kindness to Phoenix and Jollyoki.

That’s good news! Will continue to pray for her breathing.

Adding prayer of Thanksgiving. Our phone and power came on tonight. No real damage, just a few small limbs down on trees. We lost a bunch of food in the freezer in spite of all the bags of ice but only inconveniences, not tragedies.

Thanks for all the line men who have come from all over to help get Houston back to normal.

Thank you God for answered prayers for Corki, jollyoki, and the phoenix. Continued prayers for jollyoki’s breathing and electricity to return soon – and the many others in need – above in the thread --and in general.

Thank You, Lord, for the unusually cool weather that’s giving relief to people in the affected areas, especially those with breathing difficulties. Thank you for the repair and rescue teams, the Red Cross, good neighbors and other kind-hearted helpers. Be with them and speed their work to bring restoration and relief to the people of S. Texas and SW Louisiana. We pray especially for members of these forums from those areas who are suffering and anxious. Give them Your hope and Your peace.

I heard another sad evacuee story today and ask that you keep this couple in your prayers. They’re elderly and the husband is terminally ill; they’ve evacuated to a hotel in North Texas. What an awful situation to be in. Please pray for them.

I would think by now that Jollyoki should have been brought new batteries for her cellphone. Let’s pray that family will get through and bring her provisions until the government offices are able to function again; and that shelter will not lose track of those who have called! God, may ones find those sheep out in their homes in these areas not flooded and where simple supplies, batteries, oxygen equipment can spare their lives if danger looms. Prompt her to call again if she has need. (Have watched the news.) :gopray2:

I also pray for this prayer request of FickleFreckled; Dear God be with them:

“I heard another sad evacuee story today and ask that you keep this couple in your prayers. They’re elderly and the husband is terminally ill; they’ve evacuated to a hotel in North Texas. What an awful situation to be in. Please pray for them.” (just above)

They will be in my prayers, dear prayer warrior.

I offer a prayer of thanksgiving as I was spared, both my house and the ordeal. I only lost my fence and was among the 1% with power after the hurricane here. Lake Jackson still has 70% without power. My mom has been told she will be powerless 2-3 weeks. Her neighborhood got hammered. The sheriff’s office here is still working everyone in 12 hour daily shifts.

Thank you, Lord, for your blessings and please be with the helpers working so hard.

Thank you God for pnewton’s protection. We will keep your family and their needs in prayer, too. Thank you for sharing with us. And we remember to pray for CAF members unable to share with us across this area. :gopray2: :blessyou:

Continuing in prayer for all victims.

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us, and increase Your mercy in us, so that in difficult moments we might not despair, nor become despondent, but with great confidence, submit ourselves to Your Holy Will, which is Love and Mercy itself. Amen

God bless you +

Praying for this couple.

… Good news! Heidi (jollyoki) survived the hurricane and now has electricity for her breathing machine and telephone situation.
More information can be found in the prayer thread called “Almost Homeless.” She wants to thank everyone here for your prayers!

Jollyoki (Heidi) got her computer up and going and has two messages on “Almost Homeless” thread.

For those praying for you, I would encourage you to add your prayer intentions for her to encourage her. In that thread, towards the end not many others were on… Perhaps I will encourage her to make comments here.

Thank God for hearing her prayers, and we look to Him for continued needs as many offices are still down.

After the hurricane and hearing the news on my radio, I felt a sort of kingship with the people left homeless because of the hurricane. I prayed hard for the people, especially the elderly and sick. It is so much to deal with. But I also have to be honest, when I watched the news and saw many compassionate people and government helping, I thought, why couldn’t I get this help when I was homless and having heart failure after heart failure and I too lost my whole household and pets. I am NOT minimizing the horror these people went through and are going through, however, the homeless in USA that are homeless not from Hurricanes and other natural disasters, get no help. the pain for both groups of people is deep and unimanginable unless you have experienced it yourself. It is 20 times worse then it even looks and sounds to loss everything and be ill.
I want to somehow help the homeless that get no help. There is a growing number of American’s who are one paycheck away from lossing everything. They fall through the cracks as I did. I am even on goverment assistance.,SSID,and still no government office could help me over summer to get a place of my own. And now, there is a real threat of not getting my check on time to pay rent and I fear being evicted. Because of the hurricane I am a victim to the government putting all their attention on the people who suffered loss from the hurricane. They are too busy to take care of us folks right now. I can not get through to SSI or Human resources for help because I am not technically a hurricane victim.
There is one thing worse then lossing your home and all you owned and pets…that is no roof over your head, especially when chronically ill. Even though my heart truely goes out to the hurricane victims and they have a long hard road ahead of them. Too hard for those elderly and ill, still, there is help.
I feel very drawn to get this help for people like me. I do not know if a bill needs to get past or what to do,but I know I must do something.
I do not mean to minimize the hurricane victims in anyway. I cried when I saw the hardship on tv…I pray daily for these dear people.
I hope you understand this.
But being in my shoes I have another perspective.
WE ALL NEED PRAYERS and HELP. I think I am the tip of the ice berg of what is starting to happen in USA. It is going to get worse. And people will be very surprised that there is really no help out there if you are sick, elderly, disabled, except if your old and sick enough to go to a nursing home. And nursing homes are where you go to die.Not a good option in most cases.
May God help us. Dear Lord, please help all the victims of the hurricane. Also, please remember the homeless and forgotten people that became homeless by no fault of their own. We are in the same boat.

I’ve not been the same as I was when I lived in WI, someday I probably should try to make a point of it. I knew and was friends with some homeless people in Madison. They knew where the heated sidewalk stoops were on State St., they knew where all the free meals were and where the pantries were. Back then I was a street musician so even when out of work I could bring home cash. Can’t do that now.

I should’ve added the rest of my thoughts because my post probably didn’t make sense. If I still knew my ol’ WI crowd now I wouldn’t be in the pickle I’m getting into. But a lot of them were people that you knew had hit rough times in their lives… they weren’t the stereotypical assumption that people have… KWIM? Sterotypical assumptions make people have hardened hearts and that’s so far from what the truth is, so far from what reality is. I fear I’m still putting my foot in my mouth, I hope I’m not. There’s many who end up in that situation just from life… I hope that makes sense.
