I strongly suggest that you prove purgatory before preaching it.

“Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. 31**But these are written that you may[a] believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”
**
John 20:30-31

So everything I need to know to be saved is contained in John, and purgatory, nor any evidence, is in John. So then why is purgatory, even if it existed (which there is no evidence of), important?

John cuts both ways

I do think its funny that whenever I press a catholic on scripture, they almost always end with that verse…its a shame it doesn’t end anywhere else
Define what you think believing in Jesus Christ means.

I can believe in Jesus Christ, but unless I follow through on what he has commanded of me, it is meaningless.

There is no evidence of heaven or hell or even that it exists either, but you believe it.

Well, if any of the Deutero’s don’t belong in the Canon, its the Maccabees.

1 Maccabees 4:45-46 show that there were no prophets present to speak on behalf of God. If this is the case, how was God writing scripture, while at the same time not talking to his people?

This is consistent with Hebrews 1:1-2 which reveals two times God spoke to his people, through the prophets, and through Christ

The maccabees fall in the abyss between the two.

As for heaven and hell, there is a clear systematic way of going through scripture that proves its existence (honestly though, not entirely the way most Christians, Catholics or Protestants alike view it) But that proof belongs in another thread. The burden of proof here still lies with your position

So what about the poor souls who never got the opportunity to know about Jesus did they go to hell or going to hell ? you believe in God’s Mercy don’t you ?

I believe in Reprobation. Some people, God elected for Damnation

"What if God, choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath—prepared for destruction? 23What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory— "
Romans 9:22-23

I Believe the Tesimony of Creation leaves all mankind without excuse

I Believe the Testimony of the Conscience leaves all mankind knowing they violated God’s Law

(Romans 1-2)

:hmmm: Who should I Believe about Purgatory Jack Chick, or the Early Church Fathers.:hmmm:

PS have go to sleep nice talking to you.🙂

“work out your salvation with fear and trembling” or do not do that and disobey God’s word!
It really is that simple!
Just stick to the truth,

“Paul clearly teaches that we are justified by faith and not by works Rom. 1:17 James declares, 'Was not Abraham our father justified by works" James and Paul would be contradictory if there were speaking about the same thing, but there are many indications in the text that they are not. Paul is speaking about justification before God, while James is talking about justification before humans.

you apply your C.C view and it suddenly isn’t so simple, thanks for the lie and fairytales I’d rather deal the truth of the Bible

Romans 3:20 “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in [God’s] sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
Romans 3:28 “Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.”

Titus 3:5 “He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit.”

ITS THIS SIMPLE.

Who should you believe how about the words of God and the statements of Paul, James, Matthew or Peter, what about JESUS.
Sorry there membership to the C.C Have been revoked???

Firstly make up your mind you refered to Acts 2:38-39 this Scripture."38Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” this follows the apostles coming into the street filled with the HS and speaking in other tongues some being (languages understood by men). and imparting to people the gift of the spirit salvation and filling them with HS.

[Now, contrary to your pentecostal interpretation, the bolded parts of those verse show us plainly that they are not about “holyspirit Baptism and Glossolalia”, but about coming to Christ in repentance and water baptism, both necessary for salvation. The verses nowhere even imply “glossolalia” (speaking in tongues). You have forced your own theology onto the passage IMO.
I made myself perfectly clear. Those verses are presentations of the Gospel from the day of Pentecost, but they do not tell the crowds that anything to do with being “baptized in the Holy Spirit” has anything to do with their salvation. I am well familiar with it because I was a deacon in an Assembly of God church and heard it preached that way for many years. I considered it iffy at best then and now much more so.

But it’s really pretty simple…what does the verse actually say? What does St. Peter tell the people to do? "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins
[/QUOTE]
; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." One has to come to Christ to receive the Holy Spirit…
As oposed to you Catholic theology right?
An unsupported and specious allegation, since I simply quote the verse and point up what it actually says. You, however, did not do that…
Baptism in water is a physical symbol, a neccessary step in the christian journey but a symbol none the less
, but the blood washes our sins away not water. a person can be saved without water baptism, you are assuming that all these people who were saved on the day of pentecost were placed under water and baptized, but there was a new type of baptism this was in the HS.You seem to have nothing but a symbolic Christianity…that’s sad.

What did Peter tell the people? What did Ananias say to St. Paul? Acts 22:16 **And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’ **
you do draw a long bow this is what makes C.C so unbelievable to those who read the Bible without catholic coloured glasses.
Then prove me wrong. You apparently can’t, or you’d have offered some scriptural refutation so far instead of non-scriptural rhetoric like this and your following remark concerning the deuterocanonical reference.
Well this doesn’t even matter, Just as much inspiration as in Harry Potter.
Do you like the KJV? Is that the only version that you use? I love all these people who tell me that they use “only the 1611 Authorized King James Version Bible” because I always ask to see it and when they hand it over I check carefully to see it’s table of contents. In every case so far, I have handed it back and had to say, “I’m sorry, but this is not a 1611 KJV Bible.” They flip out usually and look at me as if I just sprouted a spare head, and at that point I tell them that I have held a 1611 KJV in my hands and read it, and that theirs is lacking the Deuterocanonical books that it has and therefore is not a 1611 KJV.

But their preachers and teachers don’t tell 'em that.:tsktsk:
