Well it looks like you will have a busy month here posting all these jailed students on this thread for attempting to get home here on CAF.

billsherman . . .
Once again, this is an example of Americans putting dollars before lives.
Why is this just “Americans”?

What about other countries deportation policies?

Why the focus on anti-Americanism?

I mean if having people go home is so bad to do to mankind, WHY just complain about Americans?

You think the pandemic is going to be permanent? It’s not. This too shall pass.
I didn’t say that.
But I do think it unwise to believe that the pandemic has only a temporary affect on us.
might mean the State Department.
Perhaps.
I stand corrected.
This would be the job of the state department.
Not if you are a Christian and motivated by God’s command to love the immigrant as yourself.
You have not shown how sending someone with an invalid visa home is immoral.
You think putting someone in prison wouldn’t harm them? Or deporting them would cause no harm?
You have not shown prison to be the only conclusion to the situation.
I, too, would like to have you explain them to me.
It is not difficult.
If we are to believe the media, then the pandemic is running wild in this country. It would be far safer for these people at home, away from the pandemic infested.
Well if they can’t go home, how could prison be a safer place to be than a dorm or an apartment?
You are assuming prison.
I am not.

But the article is concerned with an issues specific to the US.
But God’s commandments aren’t.

So if billsherman broadens the scope to God’s commandments (and he has), then he has to defend it by saying more than ipse dixit about how these laws are sins (I think billsherman is wrong on that point too), and then the broadened application will need to be applied universally.

Billsherman brought a religious dimension into a political discussion.

And I am fine with that. But then we need to expect to look at the WHOLE of that religious dimension too.

This topic is about a particular US immigration policy. But, if it makes you feel better, yes I believe that EVERY nation on Earth is commanded by God to care for and treat immigrants identically to its own citizens.

My critiques of American immigration are because I actually know something about it. I can’t criticize Uruguay’s immigration policy because I know absolutely nothing about it.

And yes, the Church is unequivocal that immigration is a moral imperative. I didn’t make it political, God did.

I mentioned bringing in God’s commandments is fine. But I will not limit it to the USA then either.

billsherman now wanting the discussion and complaints focusing against the US . . .
This topic is about a particular US immigration policy.
I’m Sorry billsherman but you ventured out of that realm about fifty posts ago.

Here it is again . . .
Christians do.

“There shall be one law for the native and for the alien who resides among you.”

“You shall not wrong or oppress a resident alien; for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.”

“For the Lord your God…loves the strangers, providing them food and clothing. You shall also love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.”

. . . and many, many more. God commands us to love the immigrant. How are we showing love by condemning people to jail and deportation because - through no fault of their own - they are trapped in the US? Before yesterday, absolutely no one thought this was necessary.

Catholic morality is supposed to be about something more than “not my problem.”

It’s this appalling selfishness and lack of empathy - let alone love - for our neighbor that has gotten us into so many problems. With COVID, we are seeing every day just how dangerous the consequences are if we only think of ourselves.

billsherman . . .
My critiques of American immigration are because I actually know something about it. I can’t criticize Uruguay’s immigration policy because I know absolutely nothing about it.
Well billsherman. You thought you knew plenty regarding the college kid from Uruguay that needs to go home, because you applied this jailing of students trying to go home universally.

And you did so without any evidence.

And I am not buying into it.

It strikes me as more anti-American politics ideals that the media has put out and some (including you) are taking seriously.

And I am saying don’t fall for this anti-American shenanigans.

To readers here:

Cathoholic (that’d be me) expressed concern over the anti-American slant to immigration concerns expressed by the media and imbibed by many.

Billsherman brought in God’s commands but hasn’t supported what commandment the US is breaking, and only want to apply it against America (saying that is because he is ignorant of foreign laws exemplifying Uruguay).

(name removed by moderator) adding in just what I would expect . . .
He only at best needs to demonstrate why it is wrong for the US . . .
To the readers here.

I will let you draw your own conclusions.

Here is (name removed by moderator)'s whole puzzling reply.
He only at best needs to demonstrate why it is wrong for the US as the article is talking about a matters that centres on your nation. He might if he chose use other nations as example. He could of course as a matter of policy start talking about abortion in numerous threads.

(name removed by moderator) again focusing in on the USA . . .
because ICE is an US based organization . . .
What does that have to do with God’s laws per se (name removed by moderator)?

(name removed by moderator) . . .
Of course if you want to broaden the field . . .
Bold mine for emphasis.

Go back and re-read my posts.

Billsherman was the one who brought in the religious dimension over fifty posts ago. And has kept bringing it up. Billsherman broadened it. Not me.

Read the thread.

(name removed by moderator) . . .
It has quite a bit to do with the article the thread is focused on…
And I am OK with that too.

But then we are going to look at it universally (not just with America) because God’s laws are
not reducible to politics and Anti-American ideas
from the media that we are all susceptible to.

That is a good thought (name removed by moderator).

What do you think about God’s laws and the Obama administration facilitating murder of immigrants by flouting state abortion laws, via sneaking girls across state lines to have their babies murdered?

Do you know if the Trump administration has continued such violations against God’s law?

I bet the Trump administration hasn’t facilitated killings of pre-born immigrants
but you may have a link that says otherwise.

I think we need to get rid of all abortion wouldn’t you agree?

And how bout you @billsherman? You certainly agree with that right? I mean opposing premeditated murder of innocent pre-born humans is an issue we can all agree on here thankfully.

(name removed by moderator) . . .
Well you might of course look and see if other nations are telling foreign students to leave for similar reasons.
We already know a student who was removed from China because of the Corona virus epidemic there.

I have posted elsewhere about other countries forcing Americans out.

There is no violation of God’s laws sending people home.

Issues for their own threads I’d say.
Baloney. You are the one who brought it up (you talking about billsherman).

Here again us what you (correctly) stated . . .
He could of course as a matter of policy start talking about abortion in numerous threads.

Here is the violation of God’s law regarding immigration right here in America that I was alluding to . . . .

Obama admin moved illegal immigrant teens across state lines for abortions, emails reveal

Calvin Freiburger NewsAbortion, Politics - U.S. Wed Oct 24, 2018 LifeSiteNews

October 24, 2018 (LifeSiteNews ) – The Obama administration transported teenage illegal immigrants in federal custody across state lines to avoid parental involvement laws and facilitate their abortions, according to emails uncovered by a journalist while reviewing a recent court case. . . . .

. . . . “Two ORR field specialists looked into the abortion laws in both Texas and Florida and reported that the general rule in both states was that minors could not have abortions without parental consent (absent exceptions, such as obtaining a waiver from a judge),” the emails reveal. “This is why termination of pregnancies are done in New Mexico due to the fact that currently (by law) there is no parental consent requirement,” the Texas field specialist explained.

It’s unknown whether Maria ultimately aborted her baby, but it’s clear Barack Obama’s HHS and ORR “purposefully sidestepped state parental notification and consent laws as a matter of policy” for no other reason than “she did not want her parents to know she was pregnant,” Cleveland writes.

On Tuesday, Cleveland followed up with another article on more emails indicating the Obama administration did this on multiple occasions, and shedding light on the administration’s pro-abortion mentality.

“We had driven minors from El Paso to Albuquerque NM which is [a] bigger distance from your program to San Antonio [in] order to get this procedure done,” one email from a Texas-based ORR representative says. . . .

And I also mentioned this . . .
So much for all that “Love and care” of the immigrant by the liberals. (And remember about not separating them from their parents too! It was all politics.)

Facilitating killing the immigrant.

This is not “love” or “care”. It is the culture of death brought to you by liberal ideology.

Also not relevant to the issue under discussion here, but yes. As I’ve stated before, I am pro-life in all circumstances. No abortion. No death penalty. Full and unequivocal love for your neighbor, without exception.

Illegal aliens and even DREAMERS have killed Americans. The obvious needs to be stated.

Obama/Biden deported 3,000,000. Seems like we don’t read much criticism on that.
