BREAKING : the administration just rescinded the rule.
That’s great.

When things like this get rescinded, I always wonder what the passionate defenders think? Were they betrayed, or is Trump still somehow right to rescind it as well?

I’ll probably never know. But it got rescinded, so we should all be happy.
 
Yeah don’t question it too much.

I see this move as of a piece with the administration’s threat to withhold funding from public schools that don’t open fully in the fall. (Though I admit the possibility there could be more to it.)

I imagine it was the reality of the economic impact. The government would have won the lawsuits easily (because this was an interpretation of a agency rule, courts - as rule - do not overturn these types of things. Look up Chevron Deference, if you want more information).

I suspect we’ll never really know for sure, though.
