You did a good job there. However you may need to tailor your explanation to a level where even a real nimcompoop can undertsand otherwise much of the gems will be lost. Like it is said, do not give pearls to the swines, but still it’s worth the try.
Thanks Reuben; It is worth a try whenever I can help clear up the misconceptions, and deceptions of someone who has been misinformed about my Catholic faith.

Peace be with you:)

Hi

Perfectness of a man is being a mortal; and then to serve the IMMORTAL and be rewardes suitably by Him. One entity cannot be Mortal and Immortal at the same time; this would be a paradox. Isn’t it?

That is not the Christian belief.

Saying He is God is not like saying that a circle is both circular and square. Nor is it like saying that a circle is transformed from being a circle to being a square. It means that God “took into” Himself a nature that was created. An analogy for this might be creative writing. As you say, this is a paradox - is that an objection ? How is God any different for being Incarnate than He is for being the only Creator of all things ? He is much or as little changed by the one as by the other. And as Christians believe in a God Who is “three-personalitied”, One Person can be Incarnate, without the others. It’s really very straightforward - & that is why it is impossible to understand completely.
One could differe me with sound reasons; I only mention what is my opinion sincerely.

I love Jesus and Mary

Thanks

Planten leaving Catholic theology aside; Can you explain why this first century JEW Thomas referred to Jesus as “My Lord and MY God”

John 20:26
Now a week later his disciples were again inside and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, although the doors were locked, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.”
27
Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe.”
28
17 **Thomas answered and said to him, “My Lord and my God!” **
29
18 Jesus said to him, “Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”
30
19 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of (his) disciples that are not written in this book.
31
But these are written that you may (come to) believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through this belief you may have life in his name.

When Jesus resurrected from the dead and revealed himself, why did Jesus recieve this worship from Thomas and not rebuke him?
Jesus was talking to the doubting Thomas. When Thomas really saw that it was all true, a miracle indeed, He uttered the words “My God.” or “My Lord, My God.” These were not directed to jesus. These words were directed to the Father God who saved Jesus.

planten; what you are resisting here is a biblical study called “typology” do you understand the meaning of this biblical study into the scriptures? It is very ancient. Many of the writers of the books of the bible referred to this “type” in their writings to bring this message of God to humanity or to those who would have ears and eyes to see.
Typology or no typology, I would believe the words of bibleOT in favor of Jesus if there is name of Jesus there or the name of his mother or some other serious undeniable information.

If something seems good in BibleOT for the future, you may try to relate that to Jesus, I would not believe it. Like you people had done in the case of Deut 18:18. “I will raise them up a prophet from their brethren the like of you…”
Who are their brethren? The plural word " For Them" is also there. Who are those people? It means there are many people. They have their brethren… The Israelis cannot be the brethren of the Israelis.

Jesus is not believed to be from the Israelis. He is called son of God. He is not the son of any Israeli. More over his life style and nature of work / appraoch was not the like of Moses a.s.

More over Jesus is considered the God Almighty. How can you people claim a place for Jesus the like of Moses a.s.??

But the effort is there to relate that prophecy to Jesus. It is a pity that the Jews for whom it was written did not know the meaning of that verse Deut 18:18 and they rejected Jesus.

More over, Jesus was a Jew and Rabbi. He followed the Jewish law. He never brought a new law. Moses had brought a law for the people. Jesus did not bring any law. If there was any law for Jesus and his original followers that was discarded by the time Paul entered the scene.

Please bring some sample proof for your Jesus from OT. Let us see the valuable cache.

John 20
18 Mary of Magdala went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord,” and what he told her.
19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
20When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
21 (Jesus) said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the holy Spirit.
23 Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained."
24 Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.
25 So the other disciples said to him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, "Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nailmarks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe."
26 Now a week later his disciples were again inside and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, although the doors were locked, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.”
27 Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe."
28 Thomas answered and said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
29 Jesus said to him, "Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."
30 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of (his) disciples that are not written in this book.

How on earth can you come to the conclusion that Thomas didnt say it to Jesus, read the parts i especially highlighted and that will prove he was saying it to him, the Lord.
Again, you have taken things out of context and come to your own conclusion without taking in the rest of the paragraphs.

Are you saying that Thomas uttered “Astaghafirullah”?

Are you saying that Thomas uttered “Astaghafirullah”?
**my reply to you and to DiL is as follows:

I have read the verses presented by DiL. The case is still very weak. Thomas being a Jew would never say to Jesus as his God or Lord. Jesus would not teach such things to any one.

Did any of the apostles also called Jesus “My Lord, My God”? I hope not. In that room there were 11 persons including doubting Thomas. Did any of the other 10 disciples call Jesus “My Lord, My God.” I hope not. So why are you banking on the words of just one person and ignoring the other 10?**

**It is a simple matter. See the topic. It says:

**If Jesus did not marry; then he is father of none ****

I am sure it is correct. If Jesus or any one else did not marry then he cannot be a father. But nowadays there are so many unmarried fathers. The church has many unmarried fathers and unmarried mothers. They are only name sake mothers and fathers.

Hi

I never said that Ben Masada was a propphet or an expert; he also had not calimed it.
Why are you cross at it? I don’t understand.

Islam is intolerant and incompatible with all other religions: If anyone desires a religion other than Islam, never will he be accepted of God; and in the next life, he will be in the ranks of those who have lost themselves and will burn in hell. (Qur’an 3:85)

paar, I,ll say a pray for you:
Code:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not
into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hi friend BILL PICK!

Thanks for the Catholic prayer.

We muslim often pray the following prayer:

**The Holy Quran : Chapter 1: Al-Fatihah الفَاتِحَة **

[1:1] بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
[1:1] In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.

[1:2] ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِينَ
[1:2] All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds,

[1:3] ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
[1:3] The Gracious, the Merciful,

[1:4] مَـٰلِكِ يَوۡمِ ٱلدِّينِ
[1:4] Master of the Day of Judgment.

[1:5] إِيَّاكَ نَعۡبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسۡتَعِينُ
[1:5] Thee alone do we worship and Thee alone do we implore for help.

[1:6] ٱهۡدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٲطَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمَ
[1:6] Guide us in the right path —

[1:7] The path of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy blessings, those who have not incurred Thy displeasure, and those who have not gone astray.

I think it is a very comprehensive prayer.

I love GodAllahYHWH who gave us this prayer.

Thanks

Ok planten; you just reasoned out that Jesus spoke to Thomas after the resurrection! I would rest my case here. What more do we need to explain, you have accepted Jesus speaking from his resurrection with doors locked who just appeared before the disciples.

So now your going to speak for Thomas, Jesus and change the literature of speech in the bible. I dont accept your late fallible twisting of words from God’s word. Why do you try to distort the Holy Word of God. Have you had scriptural training of reading the books of the bible? Because you are distorting fact and truth at the same time.

Yes, I noted that the first time that Jesus met his disciples, he took some fish and honey to eat. His friends did not believe what they saw. None of them said " My God, My Lord." Okay? or you disagree?

**I am not trying to distort anything. I am asking you, just on the saying of One man (Thomas) you believe that Jesus was God. What about the other 10 disciples? They were quiet on the subject?

Thomas also did not say , “O My God, O my Lord” or “You are my Lord. You are my God.” have you noted my problem?. I hope I have made it more clear now. Not distorting anything in my opinion. Please do not mind. I believe that Thomas was praising the One God, teh Lord of all, the Lord of Jesus too, in my opinion.**

M D, that is quite true. But not literal. What Jesus said is absolutely true. But you can read it as you like. I have told my opinion.

Jesus is the incarnation of God. As such he is the Father of all. That’s pretty much all there is to it.

I think, if Catholic-god-Jesus had parts having little utility for him, then it would have being equally good human flesh if he would have been a woman; I see no harm in it.
How do my Catholic friends feel about it? I think they would agree with me, in my opinion.

Paarsurrey says:

Hi friend/sister simplynoone!

Thanks for the appreciation.

Some of my dear Catholic friends here have mentioned that Jesus was married with the Church so he needed not to marry a girl. If Jesus would have agree with Paul (in retrospect/ in supposition); then Jesus would have got married with the synagogues which he used to go, and he could not go to the Churches as he was baptized on hand of John the Baptist. What Jesus had to do with the Churches? Nothing, in my opinion

If one thinks intently, the whole idea of Jesus marrying a church is meaningless. While he was married and fathered his children; he still could serve the Church if he had liked. There are many people in the world, who are not supposed to be so perfect, yet they manage things so beautifully side by side. If Jesus was one of the perfect men ever, as my Catholic friends would have me believe, he could have done it also. If Jesus was a Catholic-god-Jesus, it would have been much easier for him to do all these things beautifully at the same time. I think Paul wanted to inculcate in the minds of the people that Jesus was a failed human being and a failed god at the same time, in my opinion.

Let Jesus marry and enjoy his life as you all do yourself, in my opinion; let Paul - not so endowed perhaps with the power of sex, wander on the path ( I think there were no roads in those days) to Damascus without a woman companion, in my opinion.

I love Jesus and would defend him against strange motives of Paul.

Regards

Gabriel of 12;

You are seriously mistaken; not only did the disciples believe who Jesus was as fully divine and fully human, so did his enemies who charged Jesus for the crime of blasphemy to which you make the charge as did the first century Jews to deny Jesus of who he was to all the others who witnessed his miracles including raising the dead (Lazarous). Why do you think the Sanhedrien wanted Jesus killed? because many, many were following Jesus and claiming him to be the “Son of God”. The High priest asked Jesus himself who he was, and the High priest rent his clothing the sound of Jesus divinity. Another episode records when the Jews picked up stones and tried to kill Jesus; when he told them who he was “IAM”, or are these episodes missing from your memory of history in the bible? Dont tell me you have a reason of another meaning from the trial of Jesus and the eyewitness accounts proclaiming his divinity.

Planten;

Yes I have noted your problem, you make out different meaning from what is believed and recorded right in front of you. You are very good at distorting words from readings or you put into the scriptures what is not there. And your right Thomas was praising the One God and the Lord of Lords and King of Kings Jesus himself, who was standing in front of Thomas. You cannot have an opinion of what is recorded as fact and Truth and come away with a distorted “Truth” from what is recorded. Either you must accept and believe God, or deny him?

Besides; You are not reading the bible with the Holy Spirit of God giving witness to these divine “Truth”. You are reading them from the flesh. Isaiah predicted about people like you, who would see and hear these divine “Truth’s” but will be unable to see or hear them. If you want God to reveal these divine mysteries, you should consider the Christian “Baptism” this step towards our Savior will give you the Spirit to understand these mysteries of God. Or are you at the threat of death from Islam, should you become “Baptized”? “Baptism saves you now”, with out the Spirit of God, you will always have difficult understanding the Spiritual realities described in Spiritual terms.

If you love Jesus you would obey him and be baptised. If you dont believe in Jesus then believe in the works Jesus did for you and me, these can help your soul from damnation.

If one thinks intently, the whole idea of Jesus marrying a church is meaningless.
As Muslims do not understand the sanctity of marriage, it is understandable that uninformed Muslims find it difficult to understand this metaphore.

The Bible however speaks of marriage since the beginning of time as a way of conveying God’s relationship with His chosen people. Marriage is beautiful thing as it involves love given unconditionally. It is about wooing, falling in love and about fidelity to each other until the end of time.

Christian husbands would give their lives for the sake of their wives goodness and their wives submit to them and thankful for this love.

Roughly speaking that’s how Christians’ God’s relationship with His people. Jesus fits that description and in which humans (Christians) can easily understand. Likewise the usage of the word ‘Father’ to denote Christians’ God.
