Absolutely not. Even if certain decisions could (and I believe they have in certain individuals personally known by me) contribute to the development of homosexual tendency in a person, I would not identify those decisions with the tendencies they have contributed to.
As for politics, you must well know that political powers are tools that can be used for evil as well as for good.
The legalization of abortion was achieved through politics, as well as divorce, the widespread availability of easily accessible contraceptive and abortion (day after pill) drugs, the “population control” policies of so many nations.
Although I respect persons with homosexual tendencies, and lament the fact that they are not respected always as their dignity as human persons demands, and that occurs unfortunately due to their tendencies as well, I don’t appreciate the hijacking of the beautiful English word “gay”, and I even less appreciate the political tendencies of those advocating such usage of the word. For they want homosexual acts (which we used to call sodomy) to be accepted on equal footing as the sacred acts of holy matrimony. Mind you, my judgment of homosexual acts is not even slightly graver than that of other disordered sexual acts between persons of the opposite sex.
So, no, I do not get “offended” by “Gay people” but I believe that human sexuality has its order and beauty according to the plan of God. And when you mess with that, it is going to have serious consequences (and I don’t just mean final judgment and hell fire, but the destruction of family and society… why don’t you read up on such numbers as the increase of single parent homes, divorces, etc?)
Thanks for your comments, Nagyszakall.
Yes, I have personal expereince with the phenomenon of broke homes. Some of them are as bad as those resulting from unbroken bur hugely disfunctional homes. But overall, things seem to be statistically improving. According to a remarkable report from NPR, there is graphic evidence that we are living in the least violent age in recorded history. Other similar indicators are likely down, too, as tragic dynamics are being outed and dealt with and can no longer hide in the shadows. So things are changing, and all the pleas for 'world peace" are not as unanswered as we seem to think.
Yes, I’ve often wanted to use “gay” in its former innocent usage, and felt thwarted. And that is an example of one of many words that have evolved. We don’t, save for a few scholars, speak Chaucerian English.* Wouldn’t that be a hoot? I was actually personally insulted at one point when certain words were misued according to my understanding. “Dude” is another one, I hated, lividly, being called “dude.” It used to mean “an incompetent, awkward, ignorant Easterner pretendcing to be a cowboy for a week or less.” Pretty much that. So you are not alone. You might enjoy reading The Mother Tongue, by Bill Bryson

And yes. political power can be used for evil. A whole nation, more, actually, was boiled like a frog by creeping Nazism not too long ago. But we are in an ascending age in terms of awareness, and are in the midst of the very difficult lesson that heart is not a matter of material form. Things are a bit different from the time that “God” in Deuteronomy told us to stone a woman if she was not a vergin when she married. or was that the middle East today? Yea, a whole passle of such has gone by the wayside. Mostly.
But because we are so emotionally entrenched in our materialism, even if we call it “religion” or “spirituality,” many project their emotional fears onto others not like them. How many cases have ther been of ultra homophobe who were outed as to their own preference? Betcha can’t name just one…
Same goes for such a materialist take on birth control. Dear God, what an unfortunate thing we have going there with our Church! Bt institutions move far more slowly in their state of comprehension of awareness than do individual. So if someone’s identity rests in an institution, well, there’s bound to be some lag. But that is why we have a brain capable of teleology, yes?
