Hi - first time in this thread…as you can see I’ve been trying to find a thread that applies in some way to my original query that I posted last week in “infant baptism”…as indicated at that time and in that posting…I wasn’t quite sure where to go with it…so used the “limbo” theory - in relation to the “infant baptism” topic to try and find some answers with regards to the “certainty” of RC believers, that what they have and are being taught is indeed the doctrine/dogma that Christ originally entrusted to His apostles.

I have been reading the posts and I’m not certain if my comments fall into this thread “infant baptism” or not - as my comments have more to do with my questioning the apparent “certainty” of most of the replies, based on how they view the church’s (RC) teaching as being “absolutely correct”.
The reason I wonder at their certainty of absolute correctness in how this particular practice is administered and why, is due to the recent retraction by this same church, of the teaching of the “theory” of limbo for “infants who die without being baptized”,
Does it not raise concerns as to the validity of other doctrines and practices that are or have been taught in the past as being “absolutely correct”…when a “theory” - not an “official doctrine” has been just left there and allowed to be taught for so many years…and then is retracted?
It is an honest and sincere question?
Thank you for your (name removed by moderator)ut. "
This thread now, "** If you are a Christian what is the real reason **for not being a Catholic?" seems a more appropriate one to pose that question, and the question itself explains why I as a believer, am not a Catholic.
The question of “credibility” in the “sole authority” and all that it encompasses.
Any insights or (name removed by moderator)ut is greatly appreciated.
