This part was left out:

“However, this must be done in such a way that the reasons for both opinions, that is, those favorable and those unfavorable to evolution, be weighed and judged with the necessary seriousness, moderation and measure, and provided that all are prepared to submit to the judgment of the Church, to whom Christ has given the mission of interpreting authentically the Sacred Scriptures and of defending the dogmas of faith.[11] Some however, rashly transgress this liberty of discussion, when they act as if the origin of the human body from pre-existing and living matter were already completely certain and proved by the facts which have been discovered up to now and by reasoning on those facts, and as if there were nothing in the sources of divine revelation which demands the greatest moderation and caution in this question.”

It was a real, literal event requiring Jesus Christ to be born, suffer, die and rise bodily from the grave.

Miracles happen all the time. Eucharistic miracles have occurred, along with transubstantiation -

“(especially in the Roman Catholic Church) the conversion of the substance of the Eucharistic elements into the body and blood of Christ at consecration, only the appearances of bread and wine still remaining.”

I am open to the fact that it may be otherwise, I am not dogmatic about evolution, but the Church prohibits us to be dogmatic against evolution.

Not sure how that is relevant, if you are talking about how some things in the Bible are literal, yes, that literally happened, because we have a teaching about that.

There is a teaching however, that Genesis is figurative, not necessarily literal. It’s in the Catechism I quoted.

They do, that is true, but God prefers to work through existing nature and natural laws in the majority of circumstances.

So these were just flawed creatures that random mutations produced for trial and error purposes ?
No. They were all well adapted to their original environments by natural selection. A population of about three billion for passenger pigeons is hardly indicative of a failure.

How does the passenger pigeons being out of the gene pool explain how one species can morph into a completely new species ?

Dogma:

God created everything “in its whole substance” from nothing (ex nihilo) in the beginning.
(Lateran IV; Vatican Council I)

Genesis does not contain purified myths. (Pontifical Biblical Commission 1909[1])

Genesis contains real history—it gives an account of things that really happened. (Pius XII)

Adam and Eve were real human beings—the first parents of all mankind. (Pius XII)

Polygenism (many “first parents”) contradicts Scripture and Tradition and is condemned. (Pius XII; 1994 Catechism, 360, footnote 226: Tobit 8:6—the “one ancestor” referred to in this Catechism could only be Adam.)

The “beginning” of the world included the creation of all things, the creation of Adam and Eve and the Fall (Jesus Christ [Mark 10:6]; Pope Innocent III; Blessed Pope Pius IX, Ineffabilis Deus).

The body of Eve was specially created from a portion of Adam’s body (Leo XIII). She could not have originated via evolution.

Various senses are employed in the Bible, but the literal obvious sense must be believed unless reason dictates or necessity requires (Leo XIII, Providentissimus Deus).

Adam and Eve were created upon an earthly paradise and would not have known death if they had remained obedient (Pius XII).

Evolution must not be taught as fact, but instead the pros and cons of evolution must be taught. (Pius XII, Humani Generis)

Original Sin was not figurative. And that is why man needed a Redeemer after the Fall.

No species is “completely new”. All species share some common characteristics with their ancestral species. The ancestors of passenger pigeons were a different species of pigeon with two wings, two legs, two eyes, feathers, avian lungs and other common characteristics of birds. It is those shared ancestral characteristics which allow biologists to build the tree of life. Twice.

All of these very basic questions about biology can be answered by a little internet research.

  1. The world was created for the Glorification of God.
  2. The Three Divine Persons are one single, common Principle of the Creation.
  3. God created the world free from exterior compulsion and inner necessity.
  4. God has created a good world.
  5. The world had a beginning in time.
  6. God alone created the World.
  7. God keeps all created things in existence.
  8. God through His providence protects and guides all that He has created.
  9. The first man was created by God.
  10. Man consists of two essential parts–a material body and a spiritual soul.
  11. The rational soul is per se the essential form of the body.
  12. Every human being possesses an individual soul.
  13. God has conferred on man a supernatural Destiny.
  14. Our first parents, before the Fall, were endowed with sanctifying grace.
  15. They were also endowed with donum immortalitatis, i.e., the gift of bodily immortality.
  16. Our first parents in paradise sinned grievously through transgression of the Divine probationary commandment.
  17. Through the sin our first parents lost sanctifying grace and provoked the anger and the indignation of God.
  18. Our first parents became subject to death and to the dominion of the Devil.
  19. Adam’s sin is transmitted to his posterity, not by imitation, but by descent.
  20. Original sin is transmitted by natural generation.
  21. In the state of original sin man is deprived of sanctifying grace and all that this implies, as well as of the preternatural gifts of integrity.
  22. Souls who depart this life in the state of original sin are excluded from the Beatific Vision of God.

Now the tree of life has fallen and is a bush.

Yes, the common 500 or so conserved elements are like common building blocks. The instructions can be changed to build all kinds of creatures from these basic blocks. A pretty neat design and one we humans use all the time.

Again, let’s not rush ahead too quickly.

Now we have a very reasonable situation whereby the chickens that are the worst flyers get eaten (just like the bear eats the slowest runner) so all the bad flyers are taken out of the gene pool. Just as all the dogs who are bad climbers are taken out as well.

Leaving, obviously, chickens that can fly better than was the norm and dogs that can climb better than was the norm. So it’s not difficult to see what happens as this arms race continues.

If we wanted to breed a chicken that could fly better than your average chicken, we would simply take out the bad flyers and breed the ones that were left. That would be done with a purpose, but in nature, there is no purpose. The dogs aren’t intentionally taking out the bad flyers in order to increase the ability of the remaining chickens to fly better. They are simply removing the bad flyers because they are easierto catch.

Over very many generations, how do you see this progressing, Techno? And bear in mind that there has been no change in species. We still have chickens and dogs.
