Of course, nobody’s perfect in this fallen world. I wish you the best of luck overcoming any flaws you think you may have. I’ll pray for you

Where does he support such?
I think it follows from the fact that God doesn’t hate His creation (at least, one would hope not), so He wouldn’t support treating someone as inferior because of circumstances outside of their control (being born a certain sex). Nothing in Scripture comes to mind at the moment.

Our Church certainly supports equal rights for women, wouldn’t you say?

Is Jesus a feminist?
For me, Feminism=equal rights for both sexes
No, because Our Lord was not ideological. That is why he “taught with authority, and not like the scribes.”

Our Lord differentiates and judges people rightly with no unjust discrimination because He is Wisdom, Justice and Love itself. He is not bounded by ideological principle, because truth is not something that comes out of a theoretical construct. The constructs are meant to help those of us with very limited understanding see the truth, but when you are Truth you do not need any constructs.

A physical analogy would be that the Almighty does not need Newton’s Laws. The Almighty knows how the universe works not from the outside looking in but as the One who Created All and Sustains All. He didn’t learn physics or chemistry out of a textbook. He knows how everything works in an intimate detail that goes far beyond our capacity to describe it, such that dividing knowledge into “physics” and “chemistry” isn’t even necessary for God.

Likewise, Our Lord knows human nature well. He does not need terminology such as male, female, masculinity or femininity to sort out his thoughts. He knows us on a far deeper level than that, in every detail. It would be a great mistake to imagine that God thinks of us and our human condition in the same way that we do.

Also, there is no reason to believe that God sees us in terms of our “rights.” What does that even mean, when we belong entirely to the demands of Love, whose service is necessary to realization of our true selves? These constructs of rights and so on are necessary in order for humans to put boundaries on each other’s conduct and to have something like an understanding of just behavior and just expectations. God is far above that. I cannot think of analogy except to say it is like imaging that if a great art master were to make up a simple list of rules to guide people with no design sense for when they needed to choose paints that he himself would be bound to that list. No, the list is necessary for those who have a very elementary understanding. The One who not only is the master of understanding but the Creator of all there is to be understood does not need that kind of conventions.

"Duties Of A Wife:

On the other hand, the duties of a wife are thus summed up by the Prince of the Apostles: Let wives be subject
to their husbands. that if any believe not the word, they may be won without the word by the conversation of the
wives, considering your chaste conversation with fear. Let not their adorning be the outward plaiting of the hair, or the wearing of gold, or the putting on of apparel: but the hidden man of the heart in the incorruptibility of a
quiet and meek spirit, which is rich in the sight of God. For after this manner heretofore the holy women also,
who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord.

To train their children in the practice of virtue and to pay particular attention to their domestic concerns should
also be especial objects of their attention. The wife should love to remain at home, unless compelled by
necessity to go out; and she should never presume to leave home without her husband’s consent.

Again, and in this the conjugal union chiefly consists, let wives never forget that next to God they are to love
their husbands, to esteem them above all others, yielding to them in all things not inconsistent with Christian
piety, a willing and ready obedience." - Catechism of the Council of Trent.

Wow great post. You’re right, it’s like when Richard Dawkins (I think it was him) “accused” Yahweh of crimes against humanity. How are we to judge the supreme being who created us using a set of Human Rights created less than a century ago? He is the lord of all of us

Yeah but then you’re relying on “I hope my husband takes my opinion into account before he makes his decision which will be binding on the whole family”. So just because you have ovaries you have to rely on the good will (and hope he never has a bad day) of the man you marry instead of demanding your right of having equal say on how the family is run? I cannot agree with this part of the church teaching. I’m no one to tell a woman I marry that she needs to obey my decisions, no matter how much I take her opinions into account

That’s because you’ve accepted modernist notions of what marriage is over what God says marriage should be.

But come on man! Don’t you see the potential for abuse of power here? It’s no different to why we fear living in a dictatorship and why democracy is the lesser evil of all government systems. I love the Catholic Church, I’ll never forget how much good it’s done for the world and I’m still thinking of maybe becoming a catholic, but if I become one, I cannot agree with this. I don’t want to marry a woman who obeys me always, I want her to have power too.

Why would I believe he would be incapable of good will? @JanSobieskiIII is right. You are still making the false assumption that my husband will reduce me to some kitchen maid without opinion nor voice. My husband would have been a man I had dated for years before marriage.
democracy is the lesser evil of all government systems.
I disagree. Democracy is a terrible system of government.
I don’t want to marry a woman who obeys me always, I want her to have power too.
Again, a woman is not powerless in a marriage. I’ve said this multiple times now that a woman is not her husband’s slave.

I don’t really like democracy either, but what’s the alternative?

Hi! Yes Higher levels of testosterone are linked to higher levels of aggression. There’s this syndrome where a boy ends up having one X chromosome and two Y chromosomes (XYY instead of XY). I heard that those kinda people are more prone to commit crimes.

Monarchy. 😛

EDIT: I’m being serious. Monarchy.

Well yeah, but didn’t you also say that the husband is the head of household? Doesn’t that mean it’s a vertical and not horizontal relationship?

Last edited:
It’s no more vertical than saying men tend to be physically stronger than men.

I think you mean women. In any case, yes, women could have power in the kind of marriage you describe, but it’s conditional on the will of the husband. It seems to me that if the husband gives no power to the wife, there’s pretty much nothing that can be done about it, since he could say “I’m doing the right thing for her, even if she doesn’t realize that”

That system’s great provided the head of government is an “enlightened despot” like Marcus Aurelius or Lee Kuang Yew, but not if you end up with a Hitler or Stalin.

Yes, sorry, I meant women!

The husband has no power to make his wife powerless.
