Would it be wrong if I smiled?

If I want to laugh at funny things people say, I can.
If I want to remain cheerful, I can.
If I want to SHOW that Iām cheerful, so that people donāt assume that Iām being a jerk, I can and will.

While weāre looking backā¦I just went through the punishment of rereading this whole thread. I see a kid putting forth a problem. He got about 28 very respectful attempts to be helpful before he started getting a little snippy at post 28.
And so I answered:Youāre fascinated by the whole drama and how āromanticā you look to the world.
Thatās me reacting to a false assumption.donāt twist what I said.
When I said that other people thought it was romantic, thatās a fact. I didnāt say that was why I was doing it. And I certainly donāt care to appear romantic. I AM a romantic individual. But I donāt go out of my way to look romantic to other people.
And if you go back and check that post, youāll see me stating that I understand your point. etc,
First, does this sound annoyed?Again at post 73 he started getting annoyed when people started questioning the motives of the girl and her family and whether she was all that. He accuses people who have been very patient of ānot listeningā when the problem is, we WERE listening. He said he wanted perspective from the other side. And 73 posts showed that many reasonable people were trying to tell him there are very few good explanations for the behavior he is encountering in that family.
Maybe. But Iām giving the truth, because of yet another false assumption. This was the post I was replying to.Donāt assume anything about me please. You are horrendously wrong. Iām not obsessed with the rescue, and Iām certainly no knight in shining armor.
While knight-in-shining-armour is nice in fairy tales, it sounds as if you are obsessed with rescue.
Iām sure it was for the most part. But the āleastā part included you.Politeness reigns for the most part as people are trying to tell him he needs to really look at this more closely.
Disrespectful? Towards who?Posters ignore his sometimes disrespectful attempts at humor and him making light of what looks like a creepy situation

This is what I said:all the while as he tells us we all donāt have all the information needed in order to agree with his preconceived notions of how this will play out.
But you must understand that you donāt know everything about it. I can tell you every little thing, but it would take way more space than this forum would allow.
Ok, and they are illegitmate reasons, why?A few people suggest he quit talking to us and DO something. More pages spent discussing why he is doing precisely nothing, or can do nothing, or will do nothing until he thinks about it a little more.
Nope. This is what you said:Finally the wheels start to come off at post 121. He snaps at Yours Truly and gets really disrespectful because I used one word: āCartoonish.ā Though he has repeatedly told us happily and proudly how abnormal she is, how not normal he is, how he doesnāt want to be normal, how outside the realm of normalness he is, or he would be the norm and all that.
This is what I said in reply to that:Well, from the point of view of adults who have dated, courted, married, married into dysfunctional families and ended up divorced, this is all very cartoonish.
Wow, thanks for telling me that. Because I suppose none of the others (Who were under the same influence) were successfully married
Nope. THIS is what you said:After comparing this situation to a famous Foghorn Leghorn cartoon, I told him he seemed something out of a story⦠a pen and ink drawing of a guy pining for the maiden.
response:Yes. Cartoonish. I can see the little pen and ink outline of you lying on your couch swooning over the fair maiden and pining.

Hmmā¦I may lie on a couch sometimes to think about it, but swooning would be a huge overstatement.
