**mmm has declined to answer my post (67)… **
Distracted has declined to read post 105…
he didn’t comment on how “the body of belivers” may mean more than just Whoever claims to be a Christian… that being a christian may involve following Christ’s representatives on EArth (priests, pope…)
1 Corinthians 1. Divisions in the church. Whose name were you baptized into? I’m willing to bet it was the same name I was baptized into. I’m also willing to bet it wasn’t a priest, a pope, Peter, Paul, or Mary. Are you trying to jack the thread and take it as far off topic as possible? Church authority is not on topic at all for this thread. I think you’re doing this because you want to antagonize me, and this is one of your favorite ways of doing so.
Who EVER said “the body of believers” means “just Whoever claims to be a Christian?” I’ll tell you who: No one. It’s the kind of thing that no one ever says; it’s only attributed to people in ways that range from silly to disingenuous to deceitful.
no comment on how ETERNAL punishment is mentioned in St Mt 25;31… as being a consequences of NOT doing works of charity… (Some scripture psgs mention punishment and some eternal punishment… This one mentions ***eternal punishment… ***)
You’re trying very hard to talk about the merit system. I can see that. Please show how this is relevant. I could find my way from here back to the OP without too much trouble, but if you don’t bother to show how your march through the Biblical arguments for the merit system pertain to Peter’s words about an eternal inheritance in heaven (and so forth), I’m not as likely to care. I’ll probably spend more time on things that are presented in a more worthwhile manner.
he does’t respond to my answers to his questions on “deserving Heaven” and the one he asked about God “paying” us for doing right…
Take a head count. How many Protestants do you see and how many Catholics? I can’t give you the individual attention you give me. Not on an open thread, anyway. If you change your tone a little, I do quite well with PM’s going back and forth.
Just so you know, the character of the post I’m currently responding to is such that it is very difficult to avoid being condescending with the reply. I’m doing the best I can, but I don’t know how long I can keep it up. I just don’t know. Maybe that’s your goal? I don’t know that either. I sure hope not. I’ll tell you what it feels like, though, and this is the honest truth. It feels like you’re trying to bring out the worst in me. If it continues to feel that way, I probably won’t talk to you anymore.
It’s probably not very profitable to say something as vacuous as “Stop doing that,” though, so I’ll be a little more specific. What you’ve just done is made a post directed at pretty much everyone except me, and the content of the post resembled something out of a Costanza celebration of Festivus on Seinfeld- specifically, the Airing of Grievances. If you want to say something to me, say it to me. Don’t just air your grievances about me to the general public. I’m right here. I may go a few days without getting on here sometimes, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea for you to complain about my lack of responsiveness in a manner that’s directed at everyone but me.
This is what I’m talking about. “mmm has declined…he didn’t comment…he doesn’t respond…I am so tired of this kind of thing.” Ask yourself: Who was that directed at? You’re talking
about me- in unflattering terms, at that- and you’re doing it right in front of me. That’s not cool. Again, it feels like you’re doing this primarily out of a desire to antagonize me. I realize you’re frustrated because you’re waiting for a response to post 67, but this still isn’t cool. I talked about post 67 in post 105, and maybe you missed that. Maybe you saw it but you weren’t satisfied with the depth of the response. Whatever. All you have to do is ask. Sometimes you might have to ask a couple of times and wait four or five days total, but that’s the nature of these forums. Bottom line is this: When you want a response from me, you’d better talk to me. Complaints
about me that are directed at everyone
but me are not going to get you far, and it’s not a good habit to get into.
If you feel that this is unfair to you or that I got carried away, you may feel free to talk to me about it. Just make sure you don’t go complaining about it to everyone else in lieu of that.
