There is a ton of reasons why I am no longer Catholic, but if you are an honest hearted person, they please don’t take offense at my word, but rather think about them, and if you see that they are right, then I warmly enourage you to contact Jehovah’s Witnessess in your area, and start a free home bible study.
Right I’ll do that, as soon as the gates of hell have prevailed against the one Church that Jesus started.👍

I think he was referring to your friend’s posts and not your yours. 😉

We kind of hijacked the thread - at this point I don’t think OP would mind. I am kind of jealous though. He only posts 3 or 4 times. I’m finally up to over 100 now and I could plead and beg and never get the attention he’s gotten.

Neither could I…

That is soooo true! I literally keep “one eye open” for the JW’s on this forum.

Its an addiction of mine that is literally scary. I feel as if I have to stop them no matter how inconvienient it may be to me.

But, in the end I never have to go to far with them cause they leave.

I hope just one will stay. Just one.

Here are some reasons that are based in fact of why you should not be a Jehovah’s Witness:

The Jehovah’s Witness organization claims to be the only true Christian group in the entire world. It says that all other churches, whether Catholic or Protestant, teach error and that anyone who is not a Jehovah’s Witness will be destroyed by God. However, the facts show that this group is a deceptive sect.

The Jehovah’s Witness organization denies that Jesus Christ is God. Instead they teach that Jesus Christ is a created angel.

However, the Bible clearly teaches that Jesus Christ, the Son, is God. For example, Hebrews 1:8 says, “But about the Son he says, ‘Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever …’” Many other verses also teach this — John 1:1, 14; 20:26-28; Acts 20:28; Romans 9:5; Hebrews 1:3, 8-9; 2 Peter 1:1.

Jehovah’s Witnesses deny the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ. Instead they teach that Jesus’ body was dissolved into gases. Charles Taze Russell, founder of the organization taught, “The man Jesus is dead, forever dead” (Studies in the Scriptures, Vol. 5, 1899, p. 454).

However, the Bible clearly teaches that Jesus’ body was raised back to life: For example, Luke 24:39 — “Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.” See also — John 2:19-21; John 20:26-28; 1 Corinthians 15:6,14.

Jehovah’s Witnesses deny the Holy Spirit is God. Instead they teach that the Holy Spirit is a impersonal force, like electricity.

However, the Bible clearly teaches that the Holy Spirit is God: Acts 5:3,4 — “Then Peter said, Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit … You have not lied to men but to God.” See also John 14:16-17; 16:13-15; Romans 8:26-27; 2 Corinthians 3:6,17-18; Ephesians 4:30.

Jehovah’s Witnesses deny the endless punishment of the wicked. Instead they teach that unrighteous people will be annihilated and cease to exist.

However, the Bible clearly teaches the endless punishment of the wicked: Matthew 25:41, 46 — “Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels … Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” See also: Matthew 18:8; 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9; Revelation 14:10, 11; 20:10, 15.

Jehovah’s Witnesses deny that human beings have a spirit that exists after death. Instead they teach that like animals, a person’s life ceases to exist at death.

However, the Bible clearly teaches that the human spirit continues a conscious existence after death: 2 Corinthians 5:8 — “We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.” See also: Luke 16:19-31; Philippians 1:23-24; Revelation 6:9-11.

Jehovah’s Witnesses teach that eternal life in God’s presence is only for a select few. They claim that only a special group of 144,000 Jehovah’s Witnesses can be born again and live forever with God in heaven; all other Jehovah’s Witnesses stay on earth.

However, the Bible clearly teaches that all those who put their faith in Jesus Christ will have eternal life in the presence of God. The Bible refers to this group as an innumerable multitude: Revelation 7:9, 15 — “After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb … they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple.” See also: John 3:15; 5:24;12:26; Ephesians 2:19; Philippians 3:20; Colossians 3:1; Hebrews 3:1; 12:22; 2 Peter 1:10,11.

Jehovah’s Witnesses deny the Three-in-One nature of God (Trinity) and teach that Satan invented the doctrine of the Trinity. They reject all the scriptures that identify Jesus Christ as God and the Holy Spirit as God.

However, the Bible clearly teaches that the Son and the Holy Spirit, as well as the Father are God (John 1:1; 20:28; 1 John 5:20; Acts 5:3, 4). It also clearly and forcefully teaches that there is only one God (Isaiah 43:10; 44:6,8; etc.). It teaches that the Three are one — a Trinity (Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 12:4-6; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Peter 1:2).

Let us not forget that the Jehovah’s Witnesses Have a history of failed prophecies.

The leaders of the Jehovah’s Witnesses claim to speak for Jehovah God with prophetic authority but they have made many prophecies that failed to come true. For example, they predicted that Armageddon and the end of the world would come in 1975. To cover up for this failure, most Jehovah’s Witnesses today deny they made this prediction even though it is easily proven from their own literature.1

The Jehovah’s Witness organization also predicted that the end of the world would come in 1914, 1915, 1918, 1925 and 1942. They predicted that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob would be resurrected and return to the earth in 1925. They have been wrong every single time. The Bible declares that failed prophecy is a mark of a false prophet (Deuteronomy 18:21-22).

I wonder what they’ll say when they are welcomed into Hell… “woops!! I guess the Catholics were right after all” 😃

dawgfan,

I noticed he stopped posting, however he has not left. He has been watching the thread. I have noticed the same fruitless arguments from my former Mormon brethren.

Yeah, he’s gotta keep up with yessian and jeff. I don’t know if I’m on the radar cause I haven’t gotten any message. However I hope he does. I wouldn’t make public anything that he would not give me permission to.

He cant even spell Witnesses. Come on now people!

I am waiting for a real catch.

Erm, er ahem, he has gone. It was a classic hit and run!

He was never catholic, That was just a ploy to suck you in. It was not a lie, rather just a missionary zealous untruth.

Catholics are the True Religion. Consider…their ability to spell

I am soooooo jealous. He’s probably going to get at least 100 replies and the only post he had on this thread was the first and all it did was reference a poorly done powerpoint presentation. I seriously doubt I’d get that many if I started a threat titled “I just found out I’m going to die in a week and I need everyone to post to my thread to save me” complete with a link to my youtube video showing me on my deathbed---- said in my best Oral Roberts tone.

Unrelated to all this, I was perusing over at the society’s website a little while and saw an article titled
“Has Christmas Lost Christ? Has the modern-day celebration of Christmas lost sight of Christ?”

I stopped and paused for a few moments to consider the irony. Honestly, I WISH I was creative enough to make all this up. BTW I did not take the bait and click the link.

LOL

Aaaagh, the suspense was killing me. I had to take a peeky peeky. I do alot of things out of curiosity that I know I shouldn’t.

To save anyone of the affliction of the burning eyes and uncontrolled laughter, I’ll post 2 quotes in reference to Catholicism from that article.

#1 “Officially, December 25 has been observed since the fourth century C.E., when the Roman Catholic Church designated that day for religious observance of Jesus’ birth.”

#2 According to U.S. Catholic, “a crèche gives a more developed picture than any single gospel can give, though it also emphasizes the nonhistorical character of these narratives.”

I think those 2 quotes can give you a “developed picture” of where the article was heading.

Indeed its true. We had quite a few threads dealing with the Archangel Michael issue here.

Not that they want to tell you all this when you start out.

In Jesus take a peek at their official site and after a ton of clicking around you will get to the who is Jesus? part. Make sure you are nice and calm before you read it all. Its bound to raise the blood pressure.
well to tell the truth, i always confused some of JW with Mormons as well, though i can immediately know a Mormon from their “mother spirit” and stuff like that:D With the JW guy, i showered him with Biblical passages (OT and NT) that refute his claims, so most of the time he was like : "mmm i forgot what the “reply” to these verses were " hehe . And when i mentioned their failed prophecies, he did not answer. Anyway, i decided to study JW heresies out of curiousity.

I really don’t mean to be rude or offensive but I’m beginning to wonder why I bother replying to posts by JW’s which someone here described as another post and run. There just doesn’t seem to be any point in attempting to appeal to a JW but as I can’t help myself here goes. The JW’s pride themselves on removing people who are ‘unrepentant serious sinners.’ I cannot and will not believe that Christ endorses a practice which is degrading and humiliating. No one should be treated like that irrespective of what they have done. I don’t believe that while God may think it is regretable and doesn’t really want it to happen it has. I don’t believe Jesus asked us to deal with serious sin in the way these judicial committees do. I know someone who ended up in a psychiatric unit after being put through one of these judicial committees and they have never got over it and the detail they were expected to go was totally unecessary. I thought the purpose of these jD’s were to decide if a person was repentant, not to establish the exact nature of an act of immorality in detail. I’m quite sure if a Priest did the same thing, the JW’s would be jumping all over it. If this process was carried out under any other guise than in the name of religion, it would be considered a breach of human rights. Before anyone says ‘but God’s standards are higher’ yes, they are. God way of dealing with serious sin is not degrading, humiliating and psychologically damaging and I don’t believe he endorses a practice which is.

Amen!!!

The way the JWs discipline their members is a common characteristic of abusive cults and churches. I too have seen the damage done to people by this group and the way they treat those who break their rules.

Okay, how about a free bible study here?

Pull out your bibles and read John 1:1.

In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God.

Until a JW wishes to do a bible study with my bible or any other Christian denomination Bible, I cannot in good conscience do a bible study with someone who used such a corrupt translation of Scripture that it adds “a” to the above and makes the word not God but “a god”.

Please do not take offense at my words. But it YOU are an honest hearted person, you should look into the corrupt nature of the bible you use to do all your bible study.

Your translation is wrong. All your understanding is being based on a corrupt translation of scripture.

Respectfully,
Maria
