Normally I would quote Jesus in the book of John in situations like this, but I fear I will only get flagged. So I will refrain from doing so. I recognize your opinion and have filed it in the appropriate recesses of my mind. Thank you. Have a great day.

No; I don’t but I believe that regardless of a Jewish love or hatred for Catholics or any other group, we oughta be loving the unbelieving Jew to the Lord. Jesus was Jew and He came through those folks. Luther, the great Protestant Rebel had a hatred for the Jews that would match the Fuhrer’s himself. You can go to Amazon and search for what he had to say and buy a copy of his writing on the subject. It is readily available.

I stand by the words of Christ. If you consider the Jew your enemy, love your enemies. Pray for those who hate you. The Jew is my neighbor, I don’t have to approve of or love his religion but the Gospel compels me to love and pray for the Jewish people. The only thing that is satisfied by hatred for anyone or thing is the flesh. And we are to mortify it daily. You don’t need to become best buds with every Jew you meet but if you claim to be Christian, act it out and love them to Christ. The Catholic church loved me into the faith when I was as virulently anti-Catholic as you may well be anti-Jew. And thank you for the link!

While I certainly agree with your post I will say this: I believe we owe Judaism, as a religion, a greater degree of respect than other non-Catholic religions, with obvious exception of the Eastern Orthodox.

Hi Corydon, before I left Idaho I found this book of St. John’s complete writings. Very excited to be settled and get to read it.

Orthodox Jews need your love and prayers. The Orthodox Jews of today practice many of the same rituals that Jesus, Paul and Peter observed. There Observance has changed very little even thru pogroms led by so called Christian’s and condoned by so called leaders. To say the Jews of today arent real Jews is like me saying most of you hete arent real catholics…because x or z. Its hateful and bigoted. And smacks of the anti semitism of past years. Jews are not perfect nor are any catholics…if we encounter the Risen Christ we are all saved by Grace. But know this the Jewish people remain chosen and as Paul said in the end all of Israel will be saved. Yes many will die and suffer eternal seperation…no different then anyone.
Please pray for and show love to your Jewish and Orthodox Jewish neighbor and co worker…you may be the only Jesus they ever encounter. Let your light shine. For full disclosure I am Jewish a believer in Jesus but not catholic nor do I go to any church.

Let’s be clear about something though.

Yes, no Jew today practice the same way as when Jesus was alive. The Temple was still there and everything was different.

HOWEVER, there is a MAJOR difference between Reform Jews, Conservative Jews & Orthodox Jews.

“Non-denominational” Jews (aka ethnic only Jews) & Reform Jews combined make up the majority of Jews in the United States. These Jews are the furthest from the ancient religion and the Reform Jews are pretty far from the majority of Jews in Israel too.

You have to be very careful with judging the “Jewish Religion” based on what you see here in America. It would be like judging the entire Catholic Faith based on all Christians (regardless of denomination) in a particular country.

Point is, even though Jewish people don’t typically speak of denominations like Christians do, there are Jewish denominations (in the strictest definition of the term)

God Bless

I do too. However, we have to keep in context which Jews Jesus and the Saints were referring to.

They were referring to the ones who had no real faith and who KNEW that Jesus was special and rejected him anyway.

Jesus & the Saints were not talking about the faithful Jews.

Every human being deserves to be treated with respect and dignity, no matter their religious beliefs. That being said, not all religious beliefs are equal and do not all lead to heaven. We need to pray that all come to the knowledge of Christ and for their salvation…

You have not met me. I have met many Catholics who dont even believe in God. Or should I judge all Catholics by the options expressed here. I keep Torah. One thing I have found the Catholicism I hear on EWTN and Catholic radio is not in this forum. Who should I believe represents the True Catholic faith? Last allow me to point out Jesus was not a Catholic…he was not a Christian… He was the Son of the Living God. A Jew and Meshiach.

Oh I totally agree with this part below. especially
we all need the redemptive love our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Pray for them and genuinely proselytize them like Jesus would want you to. Show them that God loves them so much He gave them the Messiah they desperately need, as we all need the redemptive love our Savior Jesus.
Jesus was a devout Jew, as was Mary and Joseph. Jesus was a very devout Jew, one who kept the letter of the law to the last dot and stroke of the pen, and exercised the Love and Mercy of God in doing so. Jesus was not a stranger to being compared to an evil spirit or possessed either, which is exemplified in that chapter or two I am sure you were going to quote.

Yes, and if one believes that the Catholic Church is the one true faith, established by God through His Son Jesus Christ, is a fulfillment of the OT, and is the way to salvation, why wouldn’t someone seek to convert/spread this message to others, regardless of their faith?

We used to say a prayer on Good Friday that was not very nice , towards the Jews. And did blame the Jews in a sense for crucifying Jesus. We now know better.

This was one of the fruits of Vatican II

The apostles were not gentiles, therefore they were /are Jews who believed that Jesus is the Messiah. Catholic word comes later in Christianity.

Welcome Solo to CAF. 😇. Be brave you are among a very diverse crowd. Shalom!

Its probably best you google the pre 1960’s prayer on Good Fridays. One of the fruits of Vatican II was a shift in Catholic views in this respect.
