We are not supposed to ask for personal information. So without specifics, and with nothing to back it up but my word, I have said this much here at CAF; I have been in law enforcement for three decades. I have seen so much harm coming from the internet. I know there is a lot of good, but with human nature being what it is, I wonder if we might not all have been better off without it.
One last thought on this subject. Lincoln once stated:
A house divided against itself, cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure, permanently, half slave and half free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved — I do not expect the house to fall — but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing or all the other.
… then at Gettysburg, he said,
It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us—that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they here gave the last full measure of devotion—that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain—that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."
Or last great division cost us a generation of young men. What this will cost remains to be seen. However, I will predict, though not live to see it, that the party that provides the leadership to bring us back together, to relearn the lesson of common ground and compromise, will be the party that leads us for decades to come.
