First, let me say, that I have been less than charitable in this thread, & I had a mod go through & edit some of my posts…
That said, I am going to tell you all, what it is that really ticks me off about this whole “baptism of the dead” thing, & that is the personal experience I have had with family.
My Daddy was one of 13 children. At present, only 2 of that generation remain living, one aunt & one uncle. My uncle’s son is doing the family tree.
Now, we have always known that several of the 13 died in childhood, & that among those were 3 that no one knew where they were buried. They were in unmarked graves in a little country cemetary somewhere in West Virginia, Maryland, or southern Pennsylvania. My aunt & uncle are aging & in poor health, & the cousin doing the family tree wanted to give his dad, & our aunt, the peace of mind of knowing where the siblings were buried who had died before the 2 of them were born…
After several years of searching, he finally realized he needed help finding them, & he went to the Mormons, who have genealogical info on about everybody…and are, supposedly, very nice about helping people with this kind of thing.
The Mormons knew exactly where the graves were…

They would not tell him!! Not until he

signed papers “requesting” that these deceased loved ones be
http://bestsmileys.com/angry1/4.gif baptized by proxy by thehttp://bestsmileys.com/angry1/25.gif Mormons.
He asked me what I thought he should do…I said to “sign their blasted papers, & don’t ever, ever let them my uncle & aunt] find out about it, it would:crying: break their hearts”.
Now, you who are Mormons (& a few others) seem to think you are being “charitable”. That was, I’m sorry, but that was
http://bestsmileys.com/angry1/9.gif extortion!! The man who did that…My uncle & aunt talk about how “nice” he was to help. They will, I hope & pray, never have to find out that he was just getting some kind of brownie points by getting baptized for folks whose family were desperate to put a stone on their graves, & took
http://bestsmileys.com/angry1/4.gifmerciless advantage…
So, pardon me, if I’m not impressed by the motives & actions here. That was a
http://bestsmileys.com/angry1/16.gifdirty rotten trick to play!!! And you all ought to be ashamed to have that kind of emotional blackmail going on…
So…needless to say, I don’t have a whole lot of love for the whole LDS church after they pulled*** that*** on us!!!
I guess maybe it is OK now, for me to say, I have an
awful lot of sympathy for the Jewish families whose deceased loved ones got hijacked…
