I’ve never seen eye-to-eye with atheists, but Kavanaugh is an appalling human being. Just…grotesque, really. Most Republicans (at least the ones currently in power) call themselves Christian, and yet their behavior is nothing short of satanic.

Isn’t charity supposed to be among the foremost Christian qualities? Last I checked, Republicans have the utmost contempt for the poor and destitute. As far as they’re concerned, if you’re sleeping in a dumpster, it’s because you’re a lazy bum. This line of thinking is almost unbelievable in the scope of its callousness. I’d even call it evil.

Because I have no concrete proof he did anything and no reason to believe contradictory statements. Seeing he was honest about having a drinking problem, I consider that sufficient.
He wasn’t honest about having a drinking problem. He said he liked beer, but did not say it was as problematic as it appears to have been to others. Credible others. He lied. His friends from school said, “He lied.” They have nothing to gain by saying that. Kavanaugh has a LOT to gain by covering up his problem. Kavanaugh called himself and his friends “obnoxious drunks” in a letter. He wrote, “We’re loud, obnoxious drunks.”

In the US, we don’t usually want “loud, obnoxious drunks” on the Supreme Court.

Jesus had a drink. Not taking alcohol doesn’t give anyone holy points. And Jesus said ‘he who has not sinned among you’, not he who has not drunk. So, no. You can’t have the right to cast the first stone, especially because you don’t even know what happened. You just believe it.

He specifically said he drank too much sometimes and that some of it made him cringe.

Do you know Kavanaugh personally? Have you spent time with him? Or do you believe he’s an “appalling” human being based on a couple hours TV appearance you have seen of him?

I actually knew the man. He was an ordinary real-life human being when I knew him, no different from dozens of other smart lawyers who work in Washington, nothing special, and not particularly obnoxious. In person he was pretty bland actually. .He is also an attorney and his appearance on TV to me looked like he was coached by his own attorneys and/or politicians on how to present himself. Whatever.

No, he wrote in a letter, “We’re loud, obnoxious drunks.” Kavanaugh, himself, wrote that.

I’m done with this ridiculous back-and-forth with you. You refuse to see the truth. You refuse to see the truth even when Kavanaugh wrote it.

Yes he did. Which is consistent with what he said about drinking too much sometimes and cringing when he remembered some of it. Point out the lie, please.

No, he wrote in a letter, “We’re loud, obnoxious drunks.” Kavanaugh, himself wrote that,
And if I had a dollar for every American guy I knew in real life who was a loud, obnoxious drunk when he was young, I could pay off my mortgage. I am willing to bet that most of the senators voting on him were also loud, obnoxious drunks in college. Probably including a lot of the women.

That’s not the point. Had he been truthful about it. The point is: He lied. That makes him a liar. To the Senate. During confirmation hearings. Try getting a dollar for every time that’s happened. You’d be homeless.

How did he lie? I heard him say he drank in high school and in college and that he liked beer.

If he’d said he never drank or didn’t like drinking, that would be a lie.

Please point out the exact lie you are claiming he made.

This is your obstinate interpretation. You are yet to show how being an obnoxious drunk contradicts ‘drinking too much sometimes’ and ‘cringing’ when remembering it.

Personally, if I had a dollar for every time that has happened, I could pay off two mortgages. 🤣
Oh, no you couldn’t. Not during Senate confirmation hearings for the Supreme Court. For goodness sake! LOL Not even if you lived in a tool shed, and I take it you don’t! That’s funny.

Sure, Senators lie. They look out for themselves. But they don’t usually lie to the Senate during Supreme Court hearings, or the truth will come back to bite them in the rear end like it did with Kavanaugh.

He’ll probably be confirmed and betray you all. Won’t vote as you want him to. I don’t really care whatever way he votes. But I care that he lied.

Why not? You think every word that has come out of the mouth of a SCOTUS candidate before the Senate up until now has been truthful? That only Kavanaugh has had the audacity to lie before the Senate?

How would you know? No confirmation testimony on peripheral matters about high school and college from decades before has been scrutinized and verification sought for it to this level of desperation. So no, you have no idea how many inaccurate statements the 8 judges have made to the Senate.

You have a bizarre interpretation of the word “lie” that is not the one applied by either the courts or by Washington, DC unless someone is politically posturing.

Admit it, you just don’t like the guy and want to get a “gotcha” on him. You’re not interested in being objective. And neither is anyone else.

And at the end of the day, this entire exercise is not going to change anyone’s mind about Kavanaugh. Those who liked him before will continue to like him and those who didn’t like him before will continue to dislike him. The only reason we are going through this is a) political theater and b) a sop to those who said there should be an investigation although it is way late.

Yes…

Are you familiar with the phrase, “a picture is worth a thousand words?”

No, I do not. My interpretation of “lie” is dictionary perfect. A statement contradictory to the truth.

The personal attacks do not serve your purpose well. Personal attacks betray desperation.

What is wrong with appointing a TRUTHFUL Conservative?
