even though condoned genocide against native pagans of the area is documented in the old testament over and over again but that’s another topic.
I find it ironic when THEY initiate force against another, it is “rightious” but when someone initiates force against them, it is the forces of “darkness”. Hanukkah is about resisting assimilation. Many New Age cults also resist assimilation, the difference between a 3000 year old cult and a 5 year old cult is that the 5 year old cult has learned alot from history and carries the imprint of a modern age, the 3000 year old cult when it was established didn’t have the influence of modern thinkers with modern knowledge.

if the jews are to be a “light unto the world” how come they never attempted or attempt today to convert the nations? they never tried to educate their neighbors on the futility of idol worship, they simply slaughtered them.
One persons “Idol” is another persons God. My “Idol” is objective reality and the laws of physics. For these we KNOW we can varify to be true. Yahweh is a false idol according to many cults of the ancient times. But is the “true” God according to the Jews. Who’s religion is right is all a matter of perspective as religion and God/Gods are completely subjective. I preffer not to play the religious olympics. Also I acknowledge that populism has no correlation to correctness so 2 billion Muslims or 2 billion Christians means nothing to me.

What I REALLY meant is that popularity does not equal correctness. Once upon atime people believed in Astrology as if it was “truth”, people thought Zeus made lightning. People thought the world was only 6,000 years old. Of course modern man knows better due to the advent of science and philosophy.

Not that others opinions mean nothing, appealing to popular opinion means nothing.

That’s all fine, but iss there a question or opinion about Judaism in there?

Hi, Valke. Can you explain why do the Jews say that G-d gave everyone (non-jews) the covenant with Noah? I don’t know if it’s like interpolating the text because I have read the chapter in Genesis where G-d tells Noah that the sign of their covenant was the rainbow which simbolises that He would never use water again to kill humanity. Where do the rabbis get the idea that he gave them laws to follow ? Also, do you know of the earliest mention of this Noahide Covenant laws (like perhaps in the Talmud) ?

I believe it is because the covenant with Noah occurs before Abraham and therefore is applicable to all of Noah’s descendents – which would be everyone.

It is dicussed in Sanhedrin 56a which references Gen 2:16

In general, judaism emphasises what we do in this world. While we certainly believe in an afterlife, there is not a lot of dogma on the afterlife. The emphasis is on the here and now.
Yes, precisely! (I haven’t come to see my e-mails after Christmas Eve until yesterday, and then I saw the e-mail about a reply on this thread only today. Sorry if this seems a bit late and inconvenient to some… Happy New Year to all of you!)

No joke, I like the Daily Show and think Adam Sandlers a great actor. And who can deny Einsteins contributions to society? And my problem is with Africa not getting enough money. In any event people need to stop taking religion so seriously. Celebrating holidays and going to church/temple/etc is all good but when a rape victim doesn’t get an abortion or when people invade a country because “God” said to and that is when religion crosses a line it shouldn’t cross.
More often than not humans, not religions, cross lines that should not be crossed!

Hi

With due respect:

What do you think; if the Jews of the time of Jesus were justified in putting an innocent person Jesus on Cross with the intention of killing him in a disgraceful manner?

I don’t blame the present day Jews of the crimes of the Jews of the Jesus’ times.

Thanks and regards
jews live in the past. it is the past that is used to put respectability to the murders they commit against none jews, claiming they are chosen, claiming God promised them the land of Palestine, is a crime against humanity,

200 nuclear weapons, 1000 aircraft ,150.000 soldiers ,650.000 reserves, --the fourth largest army in the world, now that is some powerful religious group. this power is needed to demolish the Holy Mosque in Jerusalem,

Do we allow this to happen,

If you are referring to the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock as unfair targets of military force while claiming that military force is unacceptable, aren’t you being inconsistent? They would not be on the Temple Mount except for Islamic military force.

What does this post have to do with either current events or judaism, besides displaying a remarkable lack of understanding regarding both Israel and Judaism?

It has everything to do with what is happening to day. you only have to read the posts , by the Zionists,

I’m a zionist. I’ve read all my posts. I still don’t know what your posts have to do with the topic of this thread.

What is the Jewish understanding of the antichrist and the final days? 🙂

Frodo gets to the Cracks of Doom, then Gollum seizes The Ring but falls into the fire and The Ring is destroyed.

Basically.

In other words, bit of a silly question. 😉

There is - or perhaps was? Maybe it was dropped from Judaism? -belief in an anti-messiah/prophet and final days, including the Judgment Day and resurrection of the dead. Perhaps you, too, will learn of these things when an answer comes? 🙂

There was a really interesting documentary on UK Channel 4 about ‘Revelation’ and ‘magic mushrooms’ 😛 - it’s all somebody else’s preoccupation, anyway and, obviously, if you don’t believe in the Christian ‘Christ’ the idea of the Christian ‘anti-Christ’ is pretty absurd to say the least.

Here’s the Wikipedia article on Jewish eschatology.

Not to mention the fact that the Jews have no inteniton of demolishing the Dome and the only way they could do that is if the mulsim world were stupid enough to force a war on Israel and then lost.
