I have no respect for these so-called Christians and find it unconscionable when I see fellow Catholics cozying up to these anti-Catholic bigots.

Frist’s full court press in some churches this weekend was the worst type of demagoguery

Sen Frist said nothing out of line.

And was tame compared to Al Sharpton and Sen Kerry during the presidential campain.

I support the end to judicial tyranny 👍

I’m anti-Kennedy and anti-Kerry. If that makes me anti-Catholic in your eyes then count me in with Christians that aren’t afraid to take a stand for Jesus Christ.

Frist hasn’t done enough in my opinion.

Look. This thread is for people that want to take the country back from moral relativists, unbelievers, Bible bashers, baby killers, and marriage wreckers. If you want to support them, start your own thread.

Fair enough. Are you aware that Bush is trying to nominate several sitting judges (therefore immoral and forcing immorality on people) to the federal bench?

Given your assertion that you stand by, you can understand why there are those of us who don’t want those immoral people to be confirmed.
Coming from an “orthodox” Catholic, you don’t make any sense. Go join Steve on your own thread suporting the spread of baby killing and homosexual marriage throughout the land which is being done through the judiciary and is the reason why Democrats are filibustering.

Spare me. The vitriol coming from democrats about Frist talking to people of faith is absolutly rediculous!!

Look, let’s do the “shoe-on-the-other-foot” thing. If a leading democrat went to speak at a Gay-n-Lesbian group or the NAALCP about fighting for “good” judges, and the republicans had a cow about such a such??? I GUARANTEE YOU the democrats woulld cry “Racism!! Bigotry!!! Intolerance!!”

Democrats don’t get that they are being anti-faith in their actions!

Mohler calls Catholicism ‘false church’
___LOUISVILLE, Ky. (RNS)–The president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary has called the Roman Catholic Church “a false church” that “teaches a false gospel.”
___Appearing on CNN’s “Larry King Live,” Al Mohler was speaking on Pope John Paul II’s pilgrimage to Israel and his recent apologies for the past sins of the Catholic Church. While stopping short of calling the Catholic Church a “cult,” Mohler said the Catholic hierarchy is unbiblical.
___“As an evangelical, I believe the Roman church is a false church and it teaches a false gospel,” Mohler said. “I believe the pope himself holds a false and unbiblical office.”

When you hold up the likes of Dobson and Mohler, you choose to align yourself with anti-Catholic bigots who have no respect for the Church, its teachings, or the Holy Father. I find that behavior sickening and disturbing; similar to a woman staying with her chronically abusive husband.

Bush has nominated several sitting judges. By your description then and logically, the judges he has nominated are immoral.

Brad: I have called the 7 senators whose vote may well decide as well as my own senators. I receive the Reclaiming America alerts.

I love Dr. Dobson, he isn’t Catholic but I have not ever heard him bash the catholic church, he was on Catholic Answers one time. He is a voice for the unborn, he’s against fetal stem cell research, promotes family values, marriage(between a man and a woman), as well as joined in the fight for the life of Terri Schivo. He is well respected by our protestant brothers. If we join together we can work to restore values into our country. Imagine respect for all human life—abortion, euthanasia, fetal stem cell research—against the law. If we join together it is all in our reach. He is on lots of radio stations, not just Christian, so he reaches a large number of people.

The other guy I have not heard of.
God bless,
chris

Brad,

I am sorry that I cannot join your campaign for two reasons.

First, you offer the juvenille death penalty case as an example of an activist court. Our Church has very clear teachings against the death penalty (see the CCC, EV, and Cardinal Schoenborn’s discussion of both - he is the director of the Catechism). The death penalty is part of the culture of death in American. Pro-life means pro-life across the board. The case you refer to is actually a great example of the judiciary closing part of the culture of death. Also, the Cruel and Unusual clause of the Eighth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution is one that is textually tied to contemporary understanding. The Constitution envisions the interpretation of “cruel and unusual” to modern, evolving understandings. Thus, it is actually the Court’s job to bring the case law in line with modern values.

Second, the judges you want to confirm are not moral. We need judges that are pro-life across the board. These judges are not pro-life across the board. We also need judges who uphold civil rights and not give a blank check to the Executive to curtail our Bill of Rights during wartime.

To quote Cardinal Bernadin: “Surely we can all agree that the taking of human life in abortion is not the same as failing to protect human dignity against hunger. But having made that distinction, let us not fail to make the point that both are moral issues.” There are other moral issues we must consider when choosing judges. This campaign, as others have pointed out, is linked to other religious leaders who are anti-Catholic. We should move to create our own campaign that focuses on Catholic values. We should not be pawns or let ourselves be used by others with different agendas.

  1. This is a non-issue because the case was not sited as an example beause of what they ruled but becuase of HOW they came about the decision - looking to international courts and laws rather than the US constitution, courts and laws.
  2. I am largely against the death penalty. It is ONLY necessary in this country because of activist judges that ignore the rights of victims and proper justice.
  3. The death penalty is NOT ruled out by the teachings of the Church. Pope Benedict XVI, writing as Cardinal Ratzinger, clarified what can be plainly read in the Catechism that you can support capital punishment in limited instances and circumstances.

This is a much bigger issue than just the fillibuster against 7 to 10 key federal appointements. To say the justice system does not need fixing because you don’t care for these 7 to 10 judges is rather simplistic. The issue is that we currently have judges that rule and make law based on personal opinion rather than interpret the law as mandated by the Constitution. The 7 to 10 judges are being filibustered because of their pro-life stands. Saying that judges must be perfect so therefore we must suffer under worse judges running an oligarchy is a nonsensical argument. Do you want judicial tyranny to continue in the same way that MADE abortion legal through Roe V. Wade, that forced prayer out of schools, that mandated Terry Schiavo be dehydrated to death, and that is working to force a redefinition of marriage throughout the states or do you want to solve this problem?

I’d like to see a link or source of this quote. Not sure what campaing the Cardinal is referring to but last I checked, it is judicial activists, that disallowed someone to be fed about a month ago in Florida, so I don’t see what the point is here. This is exactly why good Catholics should be seeking reform.

If not for Dobson, I don’t know where this country would be. It certainly hasn’t been the USCCB that has been the loud and clear moral conscience of the nation.

Not all judges but many. This isn’t about who nominated who. This is about fixing the system.

I find your characterizing Dobson as an anti-Catholic bigot sickening and disturbing. You have zero basis for that assessment. The man as recently as a couple weeks ago had 2 Catholic priests on his program.

So you want euthanasia, same-sex marriage, and abortion to continue to be the law of the land? I don’t. That’s what this thread is for.

Dobson was asked to renounce Mohler’s comments about the “false church” and the “false gospel” and he refused; that puts him in the same category as Mohler. The reason he was asked to renounce his comments is because Dr. Dobson put Dr. Mohler on his Board of Directors. As for him having Catholics on his show, you’re just making my point.

Dobson is a great man and a great Christian. He works closely with Scott Hahn and Fr. Pavone, among many other Catholics. He has a large base of Catholic supporters. He has done more for the family in the past 30 years than anyone. Sorry you are out of the loop.

Are you interested in stopping judicial tyranny or not? If not, I’ll assume you’re just trying to sabotage my efforts. If yes, then welcome aboard. Let’s get busy.
