If so, I think VC owes Jacob an apology. šŸ˜‰
Mmmmmm, we’ll see. But note what I’ve been saying: Jacob is evil, and Jacob accepted a role that entails sacrificing others for the betterment of humanity. (Those two are a bit interrelated).

So, if it turns out that Jacob isn’t evil, I’ll come back here and admit that I was wrong.

But if he is evil. . . I will expect all you pro-Jacobites to admit you were wrong. šŸ˜›

I want to highlight one of me earlier posts:
Hmmmmm.

Question #1: How did Psycho-Mom kill all the others?
Is that bothering anyone else? That village looked to me like Smokey sacked it. Not to mention the entire Well was caved in and filled in and stones piled upon stones.

An old woman who is ā€œtiredā€? Did all that?

Looks like a Smokey to me. Does the Guardian control the smoke?

. . . think about that for a bit. . .

About the wine, since MIB smashed the bottle, what does that mean for the candidates? The cup cannot be passed onto anyone without the wine bottle (my guess is that it isn’t your wine-in-the-box kind of wine).

Do you think so?

In Ab Aeterno, when Jacob first meets Richard he says to him ā€œNo one comes in unless I invite them inā€ and then he. . .

hands Richard a cup of wine from that same bottle.

Bum bum bum!

But, Richard didn’t drink it.

My wife picked up on that, too. I admit I didn’t give it much thought. But what you propose is interesting… :hmmm:

Me too.

(and finding out if I am going to eat crow on here, or be the maĆ®tre d’ for all of you.)

at first, i did not like last nights episode, but it has really grown on me upon rewatching it a few times. heres a theory i have in regards to how mib became smokey. When jacob sent him into the light, the light acted like a magnet not only for metals, but for the light that resides in every human being. it in essence sucked the soul out of MIB separating him from his body, all the good in him was absorbed into the light and all that was left was evil which is manifested by the black smoke. dogen saying that mib was evil incarnate would make sense under this theory.

some other thoughts:

the mother obviously had supernatural powers, she was able to grant long life to jacob and mib as well prevent them from killing each other. its certainly not a stretch to assume she killed the people in the villlage and filled up the well.

Jacob is somewhat of a reformed in regards to how his mother did things as guardian. His mother was perhaps overly cynical of humanity where as jacob has a more optimistic view, and where she kind of scoffed at the notion of free will jacob seems to champion in it in the way he does things by giving people a choice to follow him or reject him.

another wild theory i have is that upon entering the light, the light and mib merged and that is why he cannot leave, because if he left the light would go out, and it also would explain how locke saw the light when he looked into the monster.

I think MIB, Smoke Monster, might be both good and bad depending on whose side you are on

I went back and watched the first part of the season finalie of last year when we are first introduced to Jacob and MIB.

It appears that Jacob has faith in humanity and MIB does not. In fact, as we know, MIB kills anyone he can with the smoke monster and finds ways to manipulate the ones he can’t kill into killing others.

MIB is obviously the favorite of the mother. He is the special one and Jacob is just second best.

But if you think about it, who is the one carrying out the wishes of the mother at this point? Jacob, or MIB? MIB thinks humanity is evil and wants to kill them and agrees with his mother but Jacob does not.

I think the mother knew all along that MIB by his actions, like it or not, was the one who would be guarding the island and the true candidate. Jacob, however, thinks that it is not necessary to kill to protect the island and that humanity is capable of being good.

My concern is that it appears that the writers of the show are getting so focused on finishing up the direct story with Jacob/MiB and the survivors, that the are going to not answer questions relating to the Dharma Initiative or the Others.

After Season 5, I think the writers figure the Dharma Initiative mythology is complete. It’s disappointing to me as well because I found the DI fascinating. I really wanted to see an episode dealing with the Hanso Foundation and the purpose of the Dharma Initiative (beyond what is in the AR games).

The DI mythos are basically the science based understanding of the Island, while Jacob/MIB mythos present the faith based understanding of the Island. Season 6 seems to be squarely centered on the Jacob/MIB mythos.

I don’t think the DI needs any more answers since we can just figure it out with what is available now. Take this week’s episode episodee for example. MIB mentions how humanity is trying to harness the power of the light and they are building wells and you got to see the wheel and all the stuff associated with the power of the island.

It can be inferred that various groups of men from that point on went in search of the island to harness its power including the Dharma Initiative.

ā€œSomebody should get those guys an atariā€ – ha.

by the way

Has that little kid that has been running around and tormenting Fake Locke been confirmed as the kid that played young Jacob in this last episode?

According to Lostpedia he has. They merged the ā€œMysterious Boyā€ article with the ā€œJacobā€ article:

lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Mysterious_boy#Post-death

I take it they did this because it is the same actor that played both roles.
