I think we finally got to the root of this.
Allow me to reiterate it below…
Totally fair encapsulation. If you don’t believe that regulating individual conduct for the collective good is ever legitimate, then yes, based on the philosophy, any regulations about masks are illegitimate.

Of course, that philosophy is also at odds with the idea of law itself, so I hope you’re posting this from some kind of anarchy-syndicalist commune in the woods.

Or signal trust in the President. Why does everything we do or do not do have to be political?

So, to my anarchistic friends @RuthAnne and @vz71, let’s follow the train of thought a bit.

If I want to drive 90 mph with a .2 BAC against traffic on the highway, does society have any right to tell me I can’t?

No. The state should not. Besides, you’d all be dead before the state even knew what happened.
Yes, yes, you’re very tough. Cool. It’s just a hypothetical.

So, we should all just live in a state of nature? Nasty, brutish and short?

If you’re asking for the anarchist answer to that question, you won’t get it here. It’s a little more detail than I care to get into. Perhaps you could do some research on anarchy if you’re truly interested.

I mean, in all seriousness, I do have to admit that while I think your philosophy is straight up insane, I have to give you credit for internal consistency and having the guts to follow your logic to it’s conclusion.

Absolutely support the mandatory orders. People in the US have been refusing to wear them voluntarily in far too great numbers when they’re effective in helping slow the spread of disease based on selfish individualistic nonsense. We seem to be the only first world country with this problem and lack of collective empathy. Frankly it’s been disgusting to watch.
