Mandatory mask poll

I’ll make a pitcher of iced tea. We may be here a while.
That does bring up an interesting point.

My favorite Mexican restaurant hires immigrants from central America.

It is very difficult to understand their speech as they are just learning the language.

Now it is more difficult as the mask muffles everything they are saying.

Oh well…the hardships we will endure for a well made taco.

Apparently Londoners can be just as tough as New Yorkers!

Yes, this feeds into anti-Semitism, as if all Jews (or all Hasidim) are the same. One thing I know: no one is going to tell a robust Hasidic woman to wear a mask when she goes food shopping. Also I saw on the news that a small group of Hasidim cut the city’s padlock to a playground in New York to allow their children to play. They know Mayor de Blasio will do nothing to punish them. They even posed for photos, proud of breaking the law. What chutzpah!

I’ve done a lot of research and there’s no way I could begin to share it here, nor do I care to. I don’t care what others believe just as long as they don’t try to tell me how I should live my life. This was a poll. I chose not to wear a mask or have it mandated.

So you think it’s weird? Good. Is that supposed to make me feel bad? Sorry if it doesn’t.

I’m just not a control freak. I won’t tell you how to live your life.

Same here with their cousins, the Amish. I see lots of them out and about, none with masks. Don’t know their infection rate, though.

The problem is that the way you live your life can have a negative affect on other people. This isn’t about whether you’re comfortable with additional risk so you can forgo the mild inconvenience of a mask. It’s you saying that you’re fine with exposing other people to additional risk so you can forgo a mild inconvenience. This libertarian attitude just becomes sociopathy in a pandemic.

Care to share just one piece of your research that says that masks don’t help control the spread of covid? Or that confirm your assertion that covid is not a pandemic?

So many of these justifications for not wearing a mask (“they look silly!” or “they’re too hot”) are clearly just fig leaves for “I want to signal my distrust of the media and CDC.”

I understand. You feel a need to control my behavior. Sorry. The law, at least for now, doesn’t require that I act according to what you believe.

My county just initiated a mandatory mask rule. If I notice people not obeying it, my crusader helmet or gas mask goes on. Best way to keep people away from you is to draw as much attention to yourself as possible.

Yes, I do. Just like I feel the need to control the cook’s behavior by mandating that he wash his hands before handling food, or control the driver’s behavior by mandating that she not drive against traffic. Clearly, I’m a budding Stalinist.

The Amish are one of the few cultural groups that you don’t see in New York. (I did see an Amish family once on the subway.) Not a scientific study, but I have observed the Muslims in my neighborhood generally adhere to the mask policy whereas the Hasidic (as I said) not so much although some do wear masks, and the Hindus also seem to obey the mandate. Asians definitely wear masks; they were the first ethnic group to do so even before it was mandatory. Blacks and Latinos are also observant. I sometimes see the former group wearing gloves as well.

I think we finally got to the root of this.
Allow me to reiterate it below…
