Upside:

No discomfort
No looking ridiculous
No danger
No social control
No giving in to an illegitimate response

Downside: spreading it to others easier.

Vitamin D deficiency is a major factor in who gets a severe case. You know many humans have this? In America, I am pretty sure it is a majority. So most people are susceptible just off that. Then what of obesity? Lack of fitness? Zinc deficiency, and other nutrients, etc. A covid case for many people is a brain and lung damage sentence at minimum. All for the upside of I don’t want to be told what to do?

This is such a ridiculous American mentality I honestly wish for the end of the aberrant phenomenon of our social dominance, God save us.

No discomfort

No danger

And you think you not “looking ridiculous” or “being uncomfortable” is more important than the potential spreading of a disease that has killed more Americans than the Vietnam War?

You realize how breathtakingly selfish that is?

Is it really that important to be able to go “Nyah Nyah Fauci you’re not the boss of me!!”

If you say so.
Even if you think masks are only partially effective…isn’t it worth looking a little silly at the grocery store (who cares, by the way…you’re picking up zucchini, not modeling clothes on the runaway…) for even a small chance of avoiding spreading a disease?

I’m trying to give this the most fair, charitable reading I can but it just strikes me as so childish and bratty. “I don’t care about people’s lives as long as I can have the satisfaction of annoying Don Lemon.”

I know that.

But with covid, it can be deadly, and from infection to actual hospitalization or death is only a few days.

I remember when AIDS patients were feared, and there were protests against letting children with AIDS or HIV go to school for fear of casual spread.

Now we do have a deadly illness that can be spread casually.

I am all for wearing a mask.

Freedom doesn’t mean just doing what we like. We should do what’s right.

What if it made somebody you were around feel safer?
Not until I’m forced to do it.
Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. - Philippians 2

You sneaky devil - you beat me to it! I’ll post this though just to keep the riff going:

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way…”

Not getting overheated, clear communication, and breathing better!

I think people should be smart enough to make their own decisions, but, with that said, if you are NOT wearing a mask, stay FAR FAR AWAY FROM ME.
Or, you could stay far far away from that person. This is nearly always an option.
What about in the workplace? I work with the public. How can I (or any other worker) stay far far away from any particular person?
The answer is, I can’t. That is why I’m thankful that masks are now mandatory for people in my workplace.
