No, it’s not remarkable. Ridgerunner said if they just left the country, they could be reunited with their children,
Reunited with the parents that put them in such grave danger!!!
but that ignores the asylum aspect - that the refugees are coming to this country to get out of harm’s way.
The parents intentionally put them in even greater danger. Some children were sent by themselves!!!
Now, are you saying that asylum-seeking refugees should be sent back without having their claims properly reviewed?
I think he said they can make that choice. They can remain in custody awaiting their hearing, knowing their children are well cared for. Or they can choose to go home.

The real villains here, other than the socialist tyrants that run their homelands, May just be those here in the US that encourage people to put their children at risk to come here by working for open borders and sanctuary cities

in the care of the Americans that separated them from their parents
Not to mention that sizable numbers of those who come over with children are not their parents or otherwise related to them. Our policies have made it advantageous for people crossing illegally to bring children with them.

Not you I was referring to JonNC. Sorry for the confusion you suffer under.

Absolutely true JonNC.

Incentivizing a dangerous journey (at least from Central America) where 80% of the children (Girls and women. Who knows how many boys?) get raped is NOT the moral high ground!

Yes, the Republicans run all branches of the government, so, yes, they do own any problems, especially a self-induced one like this. It’s amazing how Republicans will take no responsibility when they are in charge of everything and still try to blame Democrats.
It is called cloture. 60 votes to break a filibuster. The Democrats have two obsessions: hatred for Trump, and open borders which undermines American sovereignty.
Reunited with parents that were trying to escape such grave danger.
And some of them chose not to follow the rules in place. Hence, they are under arrest, which means their children must be cared for.
Well, I guess a teacher who is obsessed over what a child wants to be called should be the one to decide when a child is in the greatest danger.
You yourself said they were in danger. But then, a poster who is consistently dishonest about what they have and haven’t posted probably isn’t the best choice to decide.
I’m not sure why that’s an “either or” choice and I would guess that the bishops have similar concerns since they have a problem with this evil policy.
I don’t recall your appeal to the bishops on the issue of gender dysphoria.
As I said, the evil is in the socialist tyrannies (socialism is always evil), and those who encourage people to put their children at risk by not supporting the wall and instead support open borders and sanctuary cities, thereby undermining American sovereignty
Yes, definitely the fault of those who think that maybe we should try to help people from foreign countries that are in danger.
It is those who support the wall, discouraging illegal crossing of our border, that are the best help for these people. It is those who promote free market capitalism and individual rights as opposed to strong central governments that are their best hope.
Evil people defend MS-13. Evil people try to undetermine our sovereignty by promoting open borders.

Open borders. That’s what the Democrats wanted all along, and now they have it.
I am sorry to hear that Trump is now allowing open borders. I thought he promised to cheering crowds of thousands of people that he would build a wall along the entire Mexican border and that Mexico would pay for the whole thing. I guess it was all empty promises?

I’m sure for some of those in leadership who support open borders and the erosion of American sovereignty this is a small sacrifice they are willing to make.

Political hijacking of children
(in this case a statue of the Baby Jesus and the remainder of the Holy Family as well)
for mere political propaganda
is something that you expect to flow

Snicker if you wish. Not terribly surprising that as many as two Republicans would not agree with the others. But the real block is the Democrat “resistance” movement that opposes everything Trump or the Repubs propose, without exception.
Of course the republicans did the exact same thing when Obama was president, so we can hardly be surprised that the democrats act like republicans.

If I recall correctly, the Senate passed an immigration reform bill under Obama, but Ryan couldn’t get the GOP united to pass it in the House. Chances are that even if the GOP could peel off some Democrats, they still wouldn’t have the votes for it to pass.

It seems like they are all arrested resulting in all children being removed from them no matter if their claims are valid or not.
Only those who cross the border illegally. If they come here legally, they aren’t arrested, their children don’t have to be cared for by government.
Yes, that’s why you seek asylum. You get that right. The last sentence is incoherent, so, if it is a veiled insult, please make yourself more clear about who you think is consistently dishonest and what this has to do with the former sentence.
When you come here for asylum, you do it the right way. Sneaking in is not the right way.
You were consistently dishonest in the firearms debate. You consistently misrepresented lawful firearms owners. Your track record leaves me to question any statement you make.
I don’t remember the bishops saying anything about gender dysphoria. Maybe you can point me to something. Now you are blaming people who won’t support Trump’s wall for this. Yeah, that makes sense.
I think you know the bishops’ position on this issue, so you seem to want to claim their authority on that issue but not this one.

Right, it’s people that don’t support the wall that are the problem.
You finally have it right.

You do realize that the people who were arrested by the Trump administration, had their children taken away, and were put in indefinite detention without being offered parole did do it the right way.

Federal court has ruled that it was the Trump administration who violated the law, and in so doing, committed an act of grave evil.
Government policy stipulates that asylum seekers be granted humanitarian parole as they await their immigration proceedings, provided they meet a series of stringent requirements. Instead, the Trump administration has categorically jailed them indefinitely, in violation of the Constitution, U.S. immigration laws, and the Department of Homeland Security’s own written policy.

What do you think the penalty should be for an administration that deliberately committed a crime against humanity?

You can’t hijack a statue. It is inanimate.

This tableau is one of the most effect ways of communicating the evil that America has committed I have seen. I am thinking that in 2020, I will replicate this, but with the baby in a separate pen, instead of the redundant political signs.

The court only rules on legal matters. It is the Church, both the Catholic Church and most of the rest of Christendom leadership, that has denounced the immorality of his actions.

Where do you parole them to? They are not eligible to be in the United States. Mexico refuses to offer asylum. They can choose to go home. Or wait for a hearing.

Grave evil? By caring for the children they put in danger, with the encouragement of anti-sovereignty leftists?
Give me a break. They true evil doers are the socialists in Central America, the leftists here, and the coyotes in between.

Crimes against humanity? It is amazing how Trump derangement syndrome has grown.

Religious leaders pen open letter speaking out against transgender identities
While I sympathize with the point the Bishops are trying to make, they will need to clarify the following statement from the letter you cite to conform to JPII’s very clear teaching that there can be no contradiction between science and religion. http://inters.org/John-Paul-II-Academy-Sciences-October-1986

As stated, the belief being expressed in the letter is scientifically false.
We come together to join our voices on a more fundamental precept of our shared existence, namely, that human beings are male or female and that the socio-cultural reality of gender cannot be separated from one’s sex as male or female.

http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-act...fense-of-marriage/created-male-and-female.cfm
This statement is in error, because human beings are not ALWAYS created either male or female. One cannot ignore the instances of human beings who are naturally created as both male and female, as in the case of human beings created with Klinefelter syndrome. Klinefelter syndrome - Google Search

A person with Klinefelter syndrome may have both ovaries and testicles. They are born with a penis, but as they mature, they naturally develop breasts and increasingly feminine bodies. Nearly all begin life living as boys, but then their bodies begin to dramatically change after puberty, some find it to be psychologically and socially more consistent to switch and adopt a female gender identity. While rare, such cases objectively demonstrate that God is not restricted to the binary distinction of biological sex as either male or female, and that gender identity is to some extent fluid. The theological significance of this has yet to be satisfactorily explored by theologians, but it will need to be at some point as the weight of scientific evidence forces the church to reevaluate its doctrine as stated.

If what the Bishops say is true, “that the socio-cultural reality of gender cannot be separated from one’s sex as male or female” then where does that leave a person who is created BOTH male and female? See the problem?

Per Genesis, God certainly created people who are male or female, with a gender identity that matches their sex and is biologically determined. However, God obviously did not begin there (i.e., the original Adam was both male and female) and clearly did not end there.

I personally look forward to clarification on this issue, because one of the things that makes me Catholic is the process by which the Holy Spirit guides the Church in the development of doctrine towards ever greater truth.

I was hoping to hear from you! Could you comment on my last post on transgender identity? (The one right above this). I know its off topic - maybe in a PM? It’s been a real stickler for me and I always value your opinion.

Unfortunately, I have to run to work now, but I will be back later.

A person who requests asylum is a VICTIM, not a criminal. It was the Trump administration who further victimized an already traumatized population with its zero-tolerance policy aimed at deterring asylum seekers at the border. Attempting to take away a person’s right to seek safety for themselves and their children, and then taking away their children, is an absolutely heinous thing to do.

What is deranged is the way you have turned morality up-side-down in order to avoid having to admit that Trump’s policy has lead to the United States perpetrating a grave evil on innocent children.

No need. I have nothing but my own opinion on the subject, which is more a matter of science than anything, in as far as psychology is a science.
